of july for san jose firefighters. they've been called out to at least two grass fires already. one at units arrived to find a one acre vegetation fire and called for another engine. there are gusty winds in the area but firefighters appear to have things under control now. about 30 minutes later a grass fire ignited at the transition of southbound 80 and southbound 101. grass burning uphill towards 280 and we're waiting for more information on that fire. a 29-year-old brentwood man accused of murdering his own mother. he is in jail this morning. police officers arrested matthew redmond after they say he tried to carjack a neighbor's car. witnesses say an off duty police officer and his wife wrestled the suspect to the ground and investigators found his mother, 54-year-old marta redmond brewly beaten to death at her home on torington drive. it's unclear what led to her death. a 24-year-old man in custody

accused in the killing of a security guard. 61-year-old rolando ramiro was working at a construction project near candlestick point shot on monday morning and died at the hospital. his family gave us these pictures of him. they say he was working hard to send money back to his family back in the philippines. police arrested 24-year-old cardell coleman and no details on a motive or what may have led up to that shooting. prosecutors will not file charges in the case of a woman who claimed she was raped by a caltrain conductor. the woman admits being heavily intoxicated when she boarded the train last year. according to the chronicle, she alleges the conductor took her to a private part of the train and assaulted her. prosecutors ruled that there was insufficient evidence adding the woman did not appear intoxicated enough to substantiate charges she could not consent to sexual activity. if you're hitting the road today expect to pay more at the pump. >> that's right. the average cost for a gallon of gas this fourth of july is the highest it's been in four years.

camp overnight at the city's immigration office. abc 7 news reporter katie utehs live on washington street. good morning, katie. >> good morning. protesters are starting to stir. about a dozen vn emerged from the tents, camped out since monday and plenty of supplies and the encampment has spread on to washington street. now san francisco police do have an officer stationed at the end of the block. so far no interaction, though. at noon protesters are holding a fourth of july theemd block i.c.e. block party. organizers say it's not a celebration for the fourth of july, it's a celebration of resistance. the occupy i.c.e. encampment at washington started monday and blocked multiple entrances with fencing and signs and one of several protest sites across the country following a weekend of marches and opposition to the administration's family separation policy. i.c.e. released a statement yesterday saying the agency respects the right to protest, but that it will follow federal law and agency policy.

at this point protesters are declining interviews but tell me they will release a statement later today that block party rally begins at noon. live in san francisco, katie utehs, abc 7 news. >> thank you. 6:32, developing news in san jose. take a look at this video that really tells the story, at least two cars and a home on fire. the flames even spread to the shrubs along the driveway. we're told this home is on griffith street and you can see the entire front of the house was on fire. no word on whether anyone was inside or hurt. firefighters did manage to keep the fire from spreading to a neighboring home. investigators in pleasanton are looking into the cause of an overnight fire that severely damaged the library at harvest park middle school. the library's attic has major damage. smoke and a sprinkler system damaged the library. it took firefighters about a half hour to get those flames under control. developing news, a wildfire forcing more evacuations in napa county. >> we're talking about the county fire which has burned

nearly 113 square miles. you can see it in red. the napa county sheriff's office says there are no homes in the evacuation area but they're looking for campers. a mandatory evacuation order is in effect for yolo county. the flames threatened nearly 1,000 homes and businesses. this fire started saturday and just 15% contained. more than 2600 fire personnel are fighting the flames. and meanwhile in lake county, cal fire expects full containment of the pawnee fire by saturday. all evacuations now lifted. the fire has burned 15,000 acres. it's destroyed more than 20 buildings since the broke out a week and a half ago. it's 85% contained. it is the fear of fires being sparked that has san jose enforcing a total ban on all types of fireworks and for the third year in a row the city is asking residents to report illegal fireworks on-line. it can be done anonymously. >> you can fill out the form, everything except for your name

and contact information, put your photographs in there. if there's enough information without contacting you for us to take action, we will take action. >> well, it didn't work that well last year, to be honest. there were more than 1,000 complaints but most were dismissed for lack of evidence. city officials say the entire process is being reevaluated. that being said, if you launch a fireworks the first offense is $500 and $250 for every other offense after that. staff members of the maryland newspaper where five employees were shot to death plan to walk in the fourth of july parade that's happening in annapolis, maryland. local officials believe this is going to be pretty symbolic for the town in terms of healing after that horrible tragedy. officials say the employees were gunned down last week by a man said to be obsessed with getting revenge against the capital gazette. plea deals offered by the defendants in the ghost ship fire have been accepted by the alameda county d.a.'s office but family members of the 36 who died said it's not fair. derek almena got nine years,

a look at this. they will have to spend at least one more day underground but i want to show you this new video. they've been able to get overnight. they got mylar warming blankets and navy s.e.a.l. teams down there staying with the boys and you can see they're putting some ointment on their feet and atlantic city on their legs for some minor cuts. the problem is how to get this team out safely from the cave. some of those boys had been practicing wearing diving masks and breathing so they can swim out if it comes to that. but a lot of these kids can't actually swim. it's a big problem. the boys and the coaches have been trapped underground since june 23rd. the rescue efforts still under way this morning. we'll have updates when they come in. back to you. >> jahi mcmath the girl who oakland who may have redefined the legal definition of death will be buried in her hometown this friday. she died of liver failure 4 1/2 years after california doctors declared her brain dead. her family moved her to new jersey, one of the few states where death cannot be declared
