. fireworks certainly didn't help a busy and early fire season in the bay area. from house fires to a growing massive menace in the north bay, we are watching the effects of an entire area ready to six people are displaced, one woman injured and a dog killed in a house fire in east oakland. now, as for the cause of this firefighters are still investigating following that busy fourth of july holiday. here's where the fire happened on hayes street. >> reporter: oakland firefighters raced to this fire around 4:30 in the morning.

near seminary avenue. >> we had a second alarm which doubles our units on scene. we had reports of people trapped. >> reporter: i spoke with the woman who lives inside the home. she was the first to see the fire and she believes it started in the front of the house. >> they heard some popping, heard some issues and realized there was a fire and were able to get themselves out. >> reporter: a 21-year-old woman suffered facial burns and smoke inhalation but is said to be okay. they were shaken and eager to see the woman in the hospital. a dog also died. we're told a fourth of july party was held on the block, but it's unclear if fireworks may have sparked the fire. >> investigators on scene, he's interviewing the occupants of the building, starting to look at the burn patterns to try and really narrow down. >> reporter: they had additional crews to cover the busy holiday. abc 7 news. another home went up in flames overnight.

this in walnut creek on first avenue near hall lane. this is an abandoned home. fireworks in the area at the time of the fire. officials have not confirmed a cause and there are no reports of injuries. now in developing news one woman is dead, another injured after a shooting in antioch. reports first came in around 4:30 this morning around delta fair boulevard. one woman died at the scene, another in the hospital. we do know one of the women is 55, the other 28 years old. but we don't know which one was killed. police have not released any information on the suspect. so many illegal fireworks and so many fires. and that's likely not a coincidence. scenes like this one kept police and firefighters running around the south bay. and one of the fires they put out burned around san jose around the guadeloupe river. matt?

well, the message is clear. san jose says fireworks are illegal here in the city. not only that they asked residents to report illegal fireworks. how did we do? turns out, no one was counting. finding a grass fire along highway 237 in son jose while fireworks were being shot off in the sky in the distance. san jose firefighters were busy overnight. we counted a couple dozen calls for fires. not too far away more evidence of the illegal fireworks left behind. all of this follows a big push encouraged by the city of jose to encourage residents to report fireworks. >> you can fill out the form, everything cept your name and contact information, put your photographs in there, and if there's enough information without contacting you for us to

take action, we will take action. >> reporter: so did san jose residents help, did the cities campaign work? this morning, who knows. a san jose police department spokesperson wrote we did not keep stats last night regarding arrests and citations issued for fireworks. san jose police say they will have to request a records check for that information through the crime analysis unit. but when that info will be available is unknown. other departments already released statistics. campbell police had 28 fireworks related calls. that's actually down significantly compared to 2017. san jose fire says they won't have their stats available until all their reports on the overnight fires are completed, and then they can determine what caused those fires. they say that can take some time. i also contacted the city of san jose's spokesperson, and she has yet to get back with me.

>> we did get some numbers from oakland pd. they gave out 56 citations specific to fireworks, made five arrests and issues 12 the contra costa fire officials confirm one man had an injury to his hand. we have a new update on a massive wildfire burning in yolo and napa counties. cal fire released a map. it shows the area you can see there affected by the flames. the fire is burning east of lake berryessa. here's some perspective on this fire. if you overlaid it over the city of san francisco, you can see it covers the whole city and goes all the way to the city of san

mateo. the pawnee fire in lake county now 92% contained. it's destroyed 22 structures, and officials expect that to be fully contained by the weekend. the homeless man charged in connection with 17 brush fires in the north bay will be in court today. the fires happened over a two day period last month. this was along the santa rosa creek trail and the west county trail. police arrested domingo on maintained and he is set to be arraigned today. these demonstrators are still there. so here's a look outside the building as of this morning. protesters want i.c.e. abolished. this is part of a nationwide protest that's in response to immigrant families being detained along the u.s.-mexico border. the protesters started camping out on monday. the building was closed

yesterday for the holiday. san francisco commuters van ness is about to get believe it or not, even trickier. they're going to shutdown another left turn at hayes street. this means van ness will only have two left turns. left turn removals also help planners retime traffic signals of van ness and other streets to improve traffic flow. this change is part of the $316 million van ness improvement project which is set to the 47 and 49 muny buses and golden gate transit run around center medians. california's net neutrality bill taking a big step forward. here's a live look in sacramento where lawmakers are announcing legislation that would give california the strongest net neutrality protections in the

hey, good morning, again. we had some turbulent air above us this morning. aerotime lapse system just moving out and about. the sun came out and started to warm the ground and overturn the atmosphere and and eventually it scrubbed it all clean. and temperatures just a slight bit warmer now. we'll see a bigger jump in those

temperatures that we talked about ten minutes ago happening. fremont, san jose, morgan hill, livermore, clear lake and everybody else in the 60s. take you to the coast and you'll even see sunshine, 57. it's going to be mostly sunny, even in san francisco warming begins today. warmest this weekend with thatde weather map. we've got this area of low pressure, counterclockwise flow. it's drawing that warm air up from the desert swouthwest, and that's what's coming up later this afternoon and for tomorrow. it ought to be a gorgeous sunset and sunrise. very colorful with the smoke helping at times, so take a picture of it. upper 70s and low to mid-80s for most of the south bay.

becoming mostly sunny and 75 in santa cruz in the next few hours. 80 in redwood city. everybody else pretty much in the upper 70s. and more sunshine at the coast today and low to mid-60s. upper 60s to near 70 for san francisco. 7:15 first pitch 62. it will be a touch breezy but about this time it's normal. low to mid-80s up in the north bay today. let's check out the east bay shore, still very comfortable with mid to upper 70s. mid-80s to about 90 degrees and getting close to needing that air conditioner. we just opened the alameda county fair at 11. it'll and we've got poor conditions at the beaches. otherwise if you're out and

about or on the bay we've got lighter conditions and strong sunshine. introducing more 90s tomorrow and all the way through monday inland. 80s around the bay but still going to be cool at the coast with low to mid-60s through monday. we do have some breaking news to tell you about right now out of oakland where a woman's body was found at the pedestrian bridge. they believe the woman is in her 50s and there is a tent in the area where it looks like someone may have been living. and those are the details we have from police right now. asking anyone with information to contact them. going to do a big switchover to christmas shopping. and amazon using an interesting tactic. bloomberg reporting that the online retailer will mail catalogs to homes and also them out at whole food stores. no word on exactly when those catalogs are going to be coming out. the most downloaded app in
