another wildfire is spreading and homes are going up in flames. >> hundreds of people have been forced to literally run for their lives in santa barbara county. right now a neighborhood appears to be engulfed in flames. the goleta fire started in a home and quickly spread to nearby brush. it has burned 35 acres and at least 100 homes are at risk. and from the oregon border to southern california, the largest fire by far is in yolo county. and a fire in san diego county. called the west fire in alpine.

about a dozen homes have been destroyed including a 130-year-old historic ranch and it is only 5% contained. >>? siskiyou county, about 40 structures have been damaged and two cemeteries. hundreds of people have been forced from their homes. >> county fire in yolo has burned 88,000 acres. it is nearly half contained. ten structures are threatened. firefighters said the weather was more favorable today but they're concerned because this weekend may be hotter and drier with stronger winds. let's go to our meteorologist, drew. >> that intense heat today in the southwest that is driving a lot of the newer fires. look at the highs frrgs l.a. to palm springs to bakersfield. 108 in los angeles and it will do the same thing again tomorrow. future tracker temperatures tomorrow afternoon. 1:00.

>> they said the fires helped locate fires in seconds, not minutes. >> this helps us discover the fires. >> time is critical for the fire captain mike muller. >> we can see the early start on a fire and start pushing resources that direction. >> one of the proposed fire watch locations is the hills behind me outside santa rosa. we took drone view so you could see it. the burn scars are visible from here. if approved, the cameras could be installed ahead of the one-year anniversary of the fire. >> we had success with them and still do in southern california. absolutely it is something that we would definitely use. >> the cameras would be installed on existing towers with the first batch put up around lake son open. a it is a vital reservoir supplying more than 600,000 people with drinking water. the project is estimated to cost around 475,000.

thank you. thai officials are now revealing how rescuers plan to try to free a soccer team trapped inside a flooded cave almost two weeks ago. they now say there's a limit amount of time save the boys. they're worried about more rain. >> reporter: a plan to rescue the soccer team now more urgent than ever. with heavy rains closing in and a new concern. oxygen supplies shrinking. a former thai navy s.e.a.l. died due to lack of oxygen. the 38-year-old lost consciousness on a return dive from where the boys were stranded. he was in the process of placing air tanks along possible evacuation route for the boys. now authorities say they may have no choice but to dive the boys out of the cave in operation initially considered too dangerous. >> they cannot dive.

>> reporter: the boys are still not ready so the tile navy s.e.a.l.s are proposing to use a buddy dive system. pairing them one a diver. some areas completely underwater. another idea, drill through to reach the boys from above. so far we're told the teams have tried more than 100 holes to no avail. officials stay boys have been learning how to breathe underwater. if all goes well and this buddy dive system gets approved, the plan is to start pulling them out of cave perhaps as early as this weekend. abc news. also, elon musk is sending engineers to help in the rescue effort. when asked on twitter how he can help, musk began to theorize plans which include kevlar pods and inflatable tube that's would fill with air like bouncy castles. engineers are in contact with the thai government.

tomorrow marks one year since an arsonist destroyed an apartment building you said construction in oakland. now the city is taking new steps to find the person responsible. last year they burned a seven-story building. it followed a pair of arsons ten months apart in emeryville. this morning the city of owingland will launch a tip line and announce a reward to help track down those responsible. >> four people suffered nonlife threatening injuries when a muni street car and a fedex car collide in the down san francisco. >> take a look at what happened. the cab of the big rig ended up in front of the muni car. three people went to the hospital and one was treated at the scene. >> they didn't think twice. three local teens rescued a drowning woman. we will hear their stories. >> it could be the unhappiest

a wildfire consuming homes in goleta on the southern tip of santa barbara county, not far from the ucsb campus. they've been through so much

down there. a fire last year that was raging and consumed tons of property and then a mud slide in the winter time. we're told this specific fire has bushld 35 acres, more than 100 homes threatened. fire crews urging residents to leave now. 911 phones are jammjamm and teens credited with saving a woman who was drowning in a pool. it happened tuesday night in alameda. our reporter spoke with the teens who jumped into action. >> reporter: the summer house apartments are home to three young heroes. that's the reputation jessica, kristine and george have earned for their actions tuesday night. they were exercising near the pool when they heard a man call for help. >> there was this woman on the bottom of a pool. >> reporter: the woman was deep in eight and a half feet of water and it was difficult for anyone to get to her. >> i dive into the pool but it

was so hard. she was like all the way under the pool. >> reporter: so the teens decided to team up and create a human chain. >> we all held hands. we pulled her together. >> all three of us, we helped her go to the side of the pool. >> reporter: once she was out of the pool she was given cpr but she inhaled too much water and had to be taken to the hospital. that's where they went to visit their new friend as she recovered. >> we brought her flowers. it was emotional of. >> reporter: after four days, she finally came home today saying she is grateful through an interpreter. >> she is thankful. >> reporter: thankful for her three young guardians. >> i was pretty proud of ourselves. we're only 13, 14 years old. we're in middle school or high school. >> reporter: two lessons learned here. stay away from deep water if you're not a good swimmer and no one is ever too young to be

a mixed bag of 60s and 70s. 74 in concord. down to 60 in san francisco. 70 in san jose. and brentwood, the warmest spot at 78 degrees. i want to show you, we're closing in on midnight. l.a. at 97 degrees. 104 in palm springs. very hot to our south and that's where the hottest temperatures will stay tomorrow. we won't see triple digit readings. overnight, the lows will drop into the 50s and 60s. it will be a rather mild night. the 12-hour day planner could have a little coastal fog that you nothing but sunshine. we're in the 80s. our warmest spot inland is going into the 90s. so high saturday. 90 for the high in concord. warm in the south bay. 89, a high in san jose. 70 tomorrow afternoon.

70 in oakland. san mateo, half moon bay, it will be cooler. the tonls 64 degrees. our micro climates are in full effect tomorrow. a beach forecast. a really nice day. a lot of sunshine. it will be warm in santa cruz. remember, you do have the dangerous surf with the rip currents and the cool ocean temperature. only about 56 degrees. so the accuweather seven-day forecast, it is a hot day inland. we'll stay in that pattern as well. kind of a rinse and repeat forecast. we're still warm around here monday but we'll see it monday, tuesday, a little cooler air moves in. i think you'll feel it more mid-week before the fog returns on thursday. that will help bring in much cooler air into friday of next week. so it is still very warm inland. >> find some shade.
