temperatures range from inland, mid-90s around the bay, mid-80s and at the coast mid-60s so it is going to be a nice beach day, and there is beach hazard statement in effect through the afternoon and during the evening hours we'll still be hanging in the 90s and the inland areas and still mild as well, upper 70s and at the coast upper 50s. we have hot weather on tap and i'll let you know how long it's going to last. chris? >> frances, thanks. >> fire crews are working to find out the cause of a three-alarm fire. on stephens creek boulevard that's been vacant since last year. firefighters were able to get the flames under control just after 1:30 this morning. thankfully, no one was hurt. thousands of people are out of their homes as a fast-moving fire burns in santa barbara county. sky map 7 from our sister

station shows the area before the holiday fire and then as it burns in a neighborhood. the fire has destroyed at least 20 homes since it started last night in goleta. more than 2200 people are evacuated. the fire started in a home and then spread to nearby brush. officials say it's burned 50 to 80 acres so far. the cause is under investigation. governor jerry brown has declared a state of emergency for a fire that broke out yesterday morning near san diego. that one is called the west fire and it's burned 400 acres in alpine. about a dozen homes have been destroyed including a 130-year-old historic ranch. right now it's just 5% contained. >> i'm a little scared, a little worried, but we're holding up. it's just one of those things that's been said, you know, you pay the price for living here in beautiful california, you know? of course, wildfires are one of the down side of it. >> several roads in the area remain closed this morning. been evacuated. dents there have

in siskiyou county, evacuation orders remain in effect as crews battle the klamathon fire. it's damaged two cemeteries. we learned one person has died. at last check the fire burned 9600 acres and containment is at 5%. fire officials will hold a community meeting today about the county fire in the town of gwinda. it's burned in napa and yolo counties. ten structures have been destroyed and more than 100 are threatened this morning. firefighters are concerned this weekend may be hotter and dryer with stronger winds. today's meeting starts at 4:00 this afternoon at g hall. sonoma county is considering installing a network of fire watch cameras. abc 7 news reporter katie utehs

elizabeth herr has plans on how to get them all out. >> reporter: a plan to rescue the soccer team now more urgent than ever with heavy rains closing in and a new concern, oxygen supplies inside the cave shrink p shrinking. a former thai navy s.e.a.l. died due to lack of oxygen. officials say the 38-year-old lost consciousness on a return dive from where the boys are stranded. he was in the process of placing air tanks along a possible evacuation route for the boys. now authorities say they may have no choice, but to dive the boys out of the cave, an operation nationally considered too dangerous. >> they cannot dive at this time. >> according to the governor, the boys are still not ready so the tai navy s.e.a.l.s are proposed to use a buddy dive system, pairing the boys up with an experienced diver who will guide them out. a journey nearly three miles

long with some areas completely under water. another idea. drill through to reach the boys from above. so far we are told the teens have tried more than 100 holes to no avail. >> the boys have been learning how to breathe under water and if all goes well and this buddy dive system gets approved, the goal is to start pulling the boys out of the cave perhaps as early as this weekend. abc news, new york. today marks one year since an arsonist destroyed an apartment building under construction in oakland. now the city is taking new steps to find the person responsible. last year suspicious fire burned a seven-story building at valdes and broadway. it followed a pair of arsons ten month apart at a construction in emoriville. this morning they will report arson and announce a reward to help track down those responsible. white supremacy posters are

saving a woman who was drowning in a pool. the near-death experience happened tuesday night in alameda. abc 7 news reporter carlos salcedo talked with the teens who jumped into action. >> reporter: the summer house apartments in alameda are home to three young heroes. that's the reputation jessica, kristine and george have earned for their actions tuesday night. the friends were exercising near the pool when they heard a man call for help. >> there was this woman on the bottom of a pool. >> reporter: the woman was deep in 8 1/2 feet of water and it was difficult for anyone to get to her. >> i dived into the pool, but it was so hard because she was all of the way under the pool. >> reporter: so the teens decided to team up and create a human chain. >> we all held hands and we pulled her together. >> all three of us, we helped her go on the side of the pool. >> once the woman was out of the pool she was given cpr, but inhaled too much water and had to be taken to alameda hospital. >> that's where the teens went

at how calm the waters are. you see the limited clouds and they're spilling over the hills into parts of san francisco. more temperatures in the 50s and 60s. santa rosa cooler at 52 and novato. conk ord and livermore in the mid-60s at this hour. highs today will be mild to hot. so we have mild and breezy conditions at the coast and that will help keep temperatures mild there with the sea breeze and 64 degrees in half moon bay. 78 in oakland. san mateo, look for upper 90s in san jose and in antioch, that's where we'll hit 95 degrees and also in the north bay, santa rosa and napa in the low 90s today. so stay hydrated especially in the inland areas and highs today at the beaches will also be really nice especially in santa cruz. a comfortable 80 degrees and perfect beach weather and the

onshore flow will keep things cool through ocean beach and half moon bay and low to mid-60s and it will be pretty chilly and beach hazards in effect through this afternoon and that's because we have a strong, southerly swell, three to seven feet. right now current wave heights are starting to drop to six feet in half moon bay and there could be some strong rip currents and bigger waves. i want to show you highs today around california and even parts of nevada. we have lots of triple digit heat with high pressure building and check out bakersfield, los angeles and palm springs at 113 degrees and las vegas at 108. there were quite a few records broken yesterday with triple digit heat. now we also have high pressure building and that means for us we will see mid-90s for the next few days in some of the inland areas. for example, in antioch for today, 95 and look at that,

we'll stay in the mid-90s through tuesday and things will start to drop off and then it will be noticeably cooler towards the end of the workweek. overnight low, not too bad. so you can still cool down around the bay and will drop to the mid-50s. san francisco, 55. san jose, 59. check out some of the inland areas and still in the 60s even in overnight hours and that's tough and you'll probably need to run the ac almost 24/7 there. here is the accuweather seven-day forecast. mid-90s around the bay. t-shirt and shorts weather in the mid-80s and at the coast, mid-60s so people will be heading to the beaches to get some relief and just look out for dangerous conditions there. notice the mid-90s stick around for the next few day, little change, plenty of sunshine and we won't see a cooldown until the end of the workweek and we'll be closer at that point. >> good to see the forecast without triple digits.

good morning north bay. this is abc 7 mornings. >> it's great to have you this saturday morning. i'm chris nguyen. we start with a quick look at the weather. here is frances dinglasan. hi, frances. >> it will be a slather on the sunscreen kind of day. with the satellite image, we're starting off with clear skies and just limited fog right at the immediate coast. temperatures will be warming up quickly during the 7:00 hour. lots of locations will be in the 60s already and 70s inland like antioch and by lunchtime if you're heading out, we'll see 90s in some spots and lots of 80s around the bay in the low to upper 70s and san jose already at 82 degrees and san francisco will warm up to near-70 degrees this afternoon and if you have plans to head out this evening you won't even need a jacket around the bay and in some interior areas it will still be quite warm in the 80s. we have hot weather inland for

the next few days, but a stronger sea breeze keeps things cool at the coast. i'll have all of the details coming up. chris chris? >> frances, thanks. thousands of people in santa barbara county are out of their homes this morning after a fas-moving fire. this video from the santa barbara county fire department shows a structure destroyed by flames in goleta. at least 20 homes have been destroyed and more than 2200 people are currently under a mandatory evacuation order. people are -- 2,000 people are without power this morning. right now there are at least ten major wildfires burning from the oregon border to southern california. a state of emergency has been declared for a fire that broke out yesterday morning in san diego county. the largest by far is still the county fire in napa and yolo counties. that fire has burned 88,000 acres and is 42% contained. officials will hold a community

meeting at 4:00 this afternoon in guinda. ten structures have been destroyed and more than 100 are threatened. firefighters expect full containment by thursday. the thai governor in charge of rescuing 12 boys and their soccer coach from a cave say the weather conditions are good for extraction. a proposed plan to have the boys buddy dive out of the cave with rescuers could be launched this weekend. in a letter the coach apologized to the boys' parents. the boys say they're doing well and miss their families. two big groups of volunteer divers are expected to arrive today to help with the extraction. while the primary rescue plan moves forward, there are backup plans still in the works including some involving help from bay area tech leader elon musk. engineers from spacex and the bore booring company are on their way to help. they have the details of the underground conditions faced by the rescue team. >> reporter: elon musk joining

the conversation on how to safely rescue the 12 boys and their coach. musk tweeting he's sending engineers from spacex and boring to help. and creating air tubes and pods. >> if elon says it will work hopefully it will. >> the diving safety officer with the california academy of sciences. he has extensive cave diving experience. >> it's extremely challenging to train somebody in those conditions to dive let alone cave dive. >> divers have been teaching the boys diving and breathing techniques in preparation for this weekend's possible buddy dive plan. the accelerated timeline would take advantage of the boys still having high oxygen levels. thai officials say the boys are in relatively good health, but bell says cave diving presents unique challenges. >> by virtue of the fact that you have an overhead above you which means you cannot ascend straight up. if you need to exit the cave you need to go back the way that you

earned. >> the boys and their coach will have to get through. the first phase of the buddy dive plan which involves staging equipment and the obstacles could be completed by 6:00 p.m. local time saturday. the second phase which includes the buddy diving could start as early as sunday morning local time. >> and the plan is to bring the boys and their coach out of the cave the same way that they initially entered two weeks ago. in the newsroom, melanie woodrow, abc 7 news. a judge has refused to extend a deadline that forces the trump administration to reunite young children with their families. however, some specific cases may be extended giving the administration more time to match dna. the order says 101 children under the age of 5 must be reunited with their parents by tuesday. and about 2,000 older children must be reunited by july 26th. specific cases that could be extended beyond tuesday include 16 children that have not been matched to their parents and 19 children whose parents are no

longer in custody and cannot be reached and several cases in which the children have non-biological parents. some families have been reunited including one from guatemala and one from mexico. this weekend the two sides will try to determine which of the children can be excused from the deadline. new this morning pleasanton police need your help to catch this man who engaged in lewd conduct. fremont police say it's possible the same man is connected to similar crimes in their city. they say he may be associated with a newer model white four-door crossover vehicle. if you have any information about this man you are urged to contact pleasanton police. a truck fedex kohlited. the cab of the big rig ended up in front of the street car as it headed to the embarcadero. four people were hurt and all

>> good morning, everybody. time now is 5:39, and we are taking a live look outside from our abc 7 roof camera along the embarcadero on this saturday morning. a little breezy out there. you can see the flag flapping around a little bit. frances has the forecast coming up. new this morning we have learned what's left of the golden gate park golf course clubhouse will soon be demolished. the golf course is closed right now. it will re-open after crews demolish the clubhouse and clean everything up. so far it isn't clear what sparked the fire. the clubhouse had been around for more than 60 years. the port of oakland will welcome a brightly colored ship. the vessel is more than 1,000 feet long and is a cherry blossom colored container ship. it's the newly branded symbol of the consolidated container shipping lines. the ship is scheduled to arrive at oakland's marine terminal monday morning at 7:00.

sports. have a great weekend. >> now an accuweather update from abc 7 mornings. >> good saturday morning. i'm meteorologist frances dinglasan. we are starting off with mostly clear skies around the bay and the satellite image, there are some low clouds just confined to the immediate coast and that's about it. here is a live shot as we look out towards the very calm waters over the bay and san francisco and there are those low clouds making it just toward the tower right now. san francisco it's 58 degrees and oakland, 59 and already in the mid-60s through mountain view, san jose and gill roadway at 6 1 degrees and we're looking through walnut creek and we are looking at pink, orange clouds at 5:54 today. more mild temperatures in the interior area and low to mid-60s right now and santa rosa, one of the cooler spots at 52 degrees, but you will notice when you step out the door it is going to be a nice, warm day.

here is a live shot, san cruz, mostly clear skies as well. it will be a gorgeous day to head to the beach and temperatures will still be mild at the coast in the 60s for the most part and then we'll see hot temperatures inland and if you are headed to the coast, be careful, there is a beach hazard statement in effect through this afternoon. the hot weather stays with us, so if you don't like it you'll have to wait until the end of next week where we'll start to see things cooling down a bit. so breezy conditions at the coast and the onshore flow will keep things cool in half moon bay and san francisco will be nice and mild at 70 degrees and upper 70s to 80 degrees and san jose, 89 degrees and if you're headed to the north bay, santa rosa and napa in the low 90s with plenty of sunshine. again with the beach it's still cool with the sea breeze there in the 60s. santa cruz will warm up nicely to 80 degrees. you need a lot of sunscreen and stay hydrated as well.

the beach hazard statement in effect through this afternoon and that's because we have the strong southerly swell, three feet to seven feet and this is all from that post-hurricane fabio and also this means rip currents and some sneaker waves. so be careful if you are going to the beaches today. also at the alameda county fair today it will be sunny and warm even at 11:00, with plenty of sunshine and warming up into the low 90s and if you stick around until closing time, still clear and mild with temperatures in the mid-60s. so let me show you what is going on. we have high pressure building in the four corners. this is bringing very hot conditions, warm weather through parts of northern california and hot in southern california where we saw a lot of triple digit heat. there's also quite a few red flag warnings in effect through parts of southern california and parts of nevada and even out in utah. low humidity, gusty winds and high heat are the factors because of the high pressure.

lows tonight will still be on the milder side around the bay and we'll still get a little bit of the sea breeze. so half moon bay dropping to 52 and mid-50s in san mateo. san jose, 59 and very mild still. inland only dropping to the mid-60s in some spots. here is the accuweather seven-day forecast. we have hot inland temperatures today and the mid-90s around the bay, nice and warm in the mid-80s and at the coast, mid-60s because of that onshore flow, but elsewhere high pressure building and that will stick around the next few days and we'll still see the mid-90s through monday and tuesday and we will see the mid-80s return to the inland areas. >> frances, thank you. homelessness is up 6% in sonoma county. over a 24-hour period counters founder inially 3,000 homeless. a third are in shelters and two-thirds live outside. county housing officials say

homelessness is actually down over the last seven years, but may have increased thisia year e to wildfires. a community is coming together to help a homeless man in oakland and this comes after video caught someone tossing out his belongings and now drew may have a place to live. >> this homeless man has been a permanent fixture. people here know him as drew. it was this notorious video that shed light on his situation when a man was caught trashing his stuff. since then, some have gone out of their way to help him with food or in this lady's case, money. >> i appreciate the help. i didn't really ask for it so i was surprised. a go fund me page was set up raising $14,000. we talked to community leader kenzie smith who says the money is enough to pay for drew's housing for a year. >> we actually have found an apartment for drew. so we're looking to move drew
