live, this is abc 7 news you could hear it. the winds whipping the flames after several large wildfires burn right now across california leaving a trail of charred destruction in their wake. i'm eric thomas. >> and i'm dion limb. developing news on the wildfires. three of the largest and most destructive are burning in san diego county, siskiyou county and santa barbara county. >> here is a better idea of the

severity. this google map shows 12 # wildfires burning today in the state. >> now the fires combined have charred 199 square miles of land. the only one burning in the bay area is the county fire burning in napa and yolo county. >> wildfires burning have destroyed 85 buildings, including several homes and one person died in the klamathon fire near the oregon border. firefighters are making progress on the massive county fire in napa and yolo county and containment is up to 48% but cal fire is worried the weather could cause some problems this weekend. the flames have scorched about 138 square miles and destroyed ten buildings, about a hundred other structures remain threatened and there is still a few mandatory evacuations in place. firefighters expect to have the fire fully contained by thursday. the pawnee fire in lake county is nearly fully contained. cal fire made progress and containment is at 95%. the fire started two weeks ago and has destroyed 22 buildings

and some homes and it has charred 24 square miles. we're posting updates on abc7news.com and the abc 7 news app. you could sign up for push alerts to get immediate updates on your mobile device. in other news, investigators are sifting through the rubble of a former restaurant in the south bay trying to determine what caused a fire that gutted the building. witnesses shared video from the scene with abc 7 news. the fire broke out at the former by the bucket restaurant on stevens creek boulevard in santa clara. firefighters were able to get the flames under control just after 1:30 this morning. they continued to put out smoldering spots in the fire throughout the day. the popular restaurant has been vacant since last year after being in business for nearly 60 years. the clubhouse at the golden gate park golf course is set to be demolished after a fire destroyed the building on monday. the golf course is closed for now. sf rec and park said the course will reopen after the crews demolish the clubhouse and

remove the debris. it is unclear what ignited the fire. the clubhouse has been around for more than 60 years. on the heels of eight people reportedly being shot overnight in oakland, an east bay mother is calling for change after losing her son this year to gun violence. abc 7 news was at 34th and chestnut in oakland where a rally took place. her son patrick scott junior was shot to death in february. she said the rally is to show support for the other parents who have lost children. >> it is not about my son. it is about all kids and all murders and all lives. it is time to make a change and the time is now. i'm tired. i'm fed up and i can't take it no more. enough is enough. all this gun violence. >> ferguson is the founder of the moore foundation and anti-violence advocacy group. the search is on for aman accused of exposing himself in fremont and pleasanton. this is a photo of the suspect.

county. assisting a thousand fire crews. cal fire said one resident still unidentified was killed in the town of homebrook and the body found in charred ruins of a home and hundreds have been told to evacuate. to the south now? n santa barbara, a fierce fire on friday night. the holiday fire has burned 20 structures including homes, forcing more than a thousand evacuations in the town of goleta. fire started at a home and spread to nearby brush. and in san diego county, five homes have burned in the foothill community of alpine. homeowners there have been told to leave. >> the events that we've seen and you've heard the term the new normal, the number of size and frequency of fires over the years have become -- i won't say the new normal, it is just become normal. >> we tried to get what we could and get out. we had dogs and tortoises and we

place. 65 in san francisco. but contrast that to concord, 92 in inland and 92 in brentwood and 83 # for san jose. so it is warm in the south bay. equally as warm in the north bay. 89 in santa rosa and cloverdale 91. and southern california getting the brunt of the most intense heat. 98 the current temperature in l.a. 115 in palm springs. even 102 in fresno. and that intense heat will stay there the next couple of days. the reason why high pressure is firmly in control over the four corners. that will continue to keep us rather breezy and rather cool along our coastline. but inland we'll be warm to hot. and the next couple of days we'll have the marine layer snlt going to be there. limited fog in the morning however that continues to keep the highest temperatures and the highest fire danger in southern california. so sunday you could see numerous excessive heat warnings around los angeles. even red flag warnings.
