now from abc 7, live breaking news. >> we begin with that breaking news coming out of thailand where the rescue is under way for 12 boys and their soccer coach trapped in a cave. good evening and thanks for joining us. >> rescue efforts began a short time ago and we just learned a lot of information about how the rescue is conducted. >> lisa in the news rom tracking the progress. >> a lot of information came out of the news thai authorities. all media is cleared from the cave. >> how many of you? >> 136r7b8g9s the officials are announces rescue operations are under way with more than two weeks trapped under ground. the 12 boys and the soccer coach

are making the treacherous journey out of the cave but it could be hours before we see anyone emerge. the thai authorities are calling it a work against the water. before the heavy rains hit again. each of the boys will go on a buddy dive, hauled by diver us there tunnels, sometimes only as a wide as manhole covers. >> you can guarantee someone will have their hands on the boys every step of the way coming out of the cave. >> reporter: divers have been teaching the boys how to dive and some are learning the basics of swimming for the first time. as the world waits for their escape, we are hearing from the boys trapped inside. in letters, the boyed asked for fried chicken and barbecue a 13 wrote, i'm fine, the air is cold and don't forget to set up my birthday party. the kids' coach is also speaking out and writing, i promise i
