collision. it looks like investigators are going to be here for a while. security video caught the collision on camera. it happened at around 12:30 p.m. san jose police say a gold buick was going south on lincoln avenue when it drove across the arms and was struck. the driver of the buick and his male passenger died at the scene. the roughly 20 passengers and operator onboard the train suffered no injuries. customers at the brewery were shaken by what they saw. >> like an extremely loud noise. it lasted a really long time, and we looked out and there was just the debris flying. >> we've got? service impacts. right now we're having a bus bridge between our convention center and fruit dale stops.

and right now we're expecting that'll be extend. >> reporter: vta encourages passengers to check their website for service update. this is san jose's 23rd fatal collision this year. live in san jose, lillian kim, abc 7 news. >> that video so difficult to watch. well, a bit of scare this afternoon on the bay bridge. just before 1:00 a car caught on fire just past treasure island in the oakland bound lanes. you can see from this video here the smoke just billowing into the air. according to the chp the two people inside that car made it out okay and were not hurt. right now a fire is burning in danville. it spread to at least 30 acres and could grow in size. several structures are at risk. we will keep an eye on that fire throughout the night. its pittsburgh a grass fire threatened some structures there. we are told this fire grew to 20 acres and started near a homeless camp. you can see from this video,

quite windy out there. cont contra costa fire say they are seeing a busy start to the season. >> fire risk is extremely high right now. we've fought several five or six fires in just the last few days it originated in or near homeless camps. >> speaking of those windy conditions let's get to meteorologist drew tuma. >> it's really that combination of those winds today and that dry vegetation you can see in the video. first i do want to take you into the danville area. we have that new brush fire at about 30 acres is the new estimate. winds south-southwest at about 16 miles an hour, and here's part of the problem as well. look at the satellite image from the bay area two months ago, tons of green, lush vegetation. today just the opposite. it is dry and that is just tinder for any wildfire to start

or spread. and winds right now are active. on sure breeze about 15, 20 miles per hour. we'll take a look at that full accuweather forecast in a few minutes. another violent night in east oakland. two people were shot, one of them fatally on international boulevard near 102nd avenue last night. the deceased victim was a 24-year-old female resident of oakland. and about two hours later a 35-year-old man was critically wounded. and just after midnight a man was wounded during a robbery at 89th avenue and international boulevard. all of this follows a friday that saw eight people shot. a hiker who tumbled down a hill side along the cliffs in pacifica rescue bide fire crews today. the hiker suffered an ankle injury. fire crews hoisted him to safety in a rescue basket. he is expected to be okay.

four of the 12 boys trap inside a flooded cave in thailand have been rescued. now crews are fighting against time and water to save the rest. reporter kim kutcherson has the latest. >> reporter: a dangerous rescue mission. divers in thailand finally managed to pull four of 12 boys out of a flooded cave. >> it was a very smooth operation today and very grateful for everyone involved. >> reporter: the soccer team has been trapped inside the cave since late june and were discovered last week. thai authorities were concerned about the children's health and dangerous weather conditions. but on sunday crews decided the conditions weren't improving and took action. >> think about the responsibility of taking a kid beneath there and the conditions are really scary.

>> reporter: the boys were taken to the hospital where they're undergoing examineinations but are said to be in good health. the next round of divers now replenishing their supplies and filling up air tanks before they can attempt another rescue. >> the crucial factor is there won't be panic in the cave, and the second is the weather right now, there won't be any intense flooding. >> reporter: with heavy rain in the forecast rescuers are racing against time as the boy's parents hold onto hope that the rescuers can pull off more miracles and save each person inside the cave. >> i really hope and praying for the kids. >> reporter: kim hutcherson, abc 7 news. >> now, elon musk tweeted videos of had rescue pods being tested under water in a pool in los angeles. he described it as basically a tiny kid sized submarine using the liquid oxygen transfer t rocs enough to be kacarried by

two dives and small enough to get through gaps. many are watching the rescue unfold by the hour and that includes many thai. >> lots of good thoughts and prayers are being sent to that rescue effort. >> i hope for the best, you know, for safety for the boys and the coach. >> reporter: there were sunday prayers at the temple where many thai americans worship. they pray that eight remaining boys and their coach can be rescued from inside that flooded cave. >> i hope that, you know, the team got enough rest and they can do that fast tomorrow. i hope all of them could come out safely. >> reporter: cave diving expert mark methersmith is watching the rescue from florida. he not only teaches people how to cave dive, he's also rescued

stranded divers before. his videos stress safety under water. >> to keep his hands free he's pressed his fins against the cave entrance wall or lead in with his shoulder. >> reporter: instead of a traditional scuba diving mask and regulator he believes rescue divers will use a full face mask on the boys to keep them from panicking under water. >> the biggest thing is to get them to relax, and if they can relax, breathe as normal and trust the rescue divers things will go well. >> reporter: but danger remains for the divers. >> hopefully they'll come out safe and sound and we'll see this in a movie in a few years. >> reporter: he's hopeful that a group of expert cave divers from the u.k. are in thailand leading the operation. he calls them world class and the best of the best. >> you can rescue updates immediately on your phone or tablet. all you have to do is download the abc 7 news app and enable

the united states reportedly tried to shutdown a world health resolution to promote breast-feeding but failed. breast-feeding is seen as vital for newborn babies if their mothers are abe to. the world health organizations says failing to start breast-feeding in the first hour of life accounts for the deaths of more than 800,000 children each year. a u.n. this spring ecuador intends to promote a measure. however, according to an ambassador to ecuador the u.s. threatened to punch the nation with trade measures and so they backed down. lobbyists were in attendance. the measure was eventually approved. opening arguments will begin tomorrow in what could become a landmark trial over the safety of 1 of the world's most widely used pesticides. attorneys

san jose right now sitting at about 83 degrees. 90 in conquered, 94 that temperature in brentwood. that sea breeze has kicked in. san francisco 88, and that current number in santa rosa. we continue to highlight that heath to our south and continues today. palm springs 113 and l.a. currently sitting at a temperature of 89 degrees. that hot air will stay well to south of us. not tracking any triple digit readings. it's plenty of stars for most of us, and mild inland. 56 that low in oakland. about 50 in santa rosa. and thonorthern california today enjoying lots of sunshine.

but there's an area of high pressure spawning some monsoonal moisture at this hour. and some of that moisture has mde its way onto the southern spine of the siera. thursday or friday this upcoming week we could be tracking a few showers on lake tahoe. otherwise that moisture will stay away for us. it's another sunny day from start to finish, starting out the morning from the 50s to low 60s. by lunchtime the coast is breezy. but the bay and inland in the 70s and 80s. and once again in the afternoon by 4:00 away from the coast in the 80s and into the 90s. highs for your monday very similar to how the weekend shaped out. and breezy in san francisco. we'll make it to about 70 in the afternoon. 80 the high in palo alto. 94 in concord. if you're fortunate to have the day off tomorrow and you're hitting the beach, a lot of sunshine. the ocean is rather calm

tomorrow afternoon. it will be breezy with winds about 10 to 25 miles an hour, and uv index will be running very high. 63 the high in ocean beach. so the accuweather seven day forecast, tomorrow a steady pattern. but then we start to cool off. midweek here by wednesday back into the 80s inland. fog returns as well, and the warmth begins back into the upcoming week. the giants shook up their roster. the move gives the team financial flexibility before the trade deadline and it allowed them to promote top prospects steven dugger, andrew weaver and ray black. pablo sandoval had a break out day. look at the moves.
