in thailand that continues to go on. first we'll start with the accuweather forecast. meteorologist mike nicco. tracking clouds along the coast. unlike yesterday morning they are not making the turn to the east. they're pretty much staying there. they will evaporate to even bryn you sunshine this afternoon. temperatures above average just about everywhere. cool this morning. mid to upper 50s in most neighborhoods. antioch and your immediate neighbors near 70 this morning. at noon. 60s at the coast. wi by 4:00, 81 to 92 around the bay and inland neighborhoods. 76 to 84. still a little warm at 7:00. looks like everybody is heading back to work today, possibly, alexis. oh, yeah! i think the majority of folks are after the holiday weekend. traffic in san jose. northbound 101 is jammed. looks like this to trimble road.

north of there we've had flooding all morning. sounds like the roadway has been blocked for about ten minutes while they try to get the large puddle out of the slow lane. should be reopening. all those lanes, any minute now. i'll show you the backup on the traffic maps as well. beyond the 101 interchange. there you go past trimble the lane is closed. you can see what firefighters are dealing with right now. there are 16 active wildfires burning in california from the oregon border all the way down to the mexico border. >> two are right here in the bay area. and the big one is called the grant fire. calfire crews are trying to determine the cause of a wildfire that burned close to interstate 580 in alameda county. this is what it looked like when the grant fire started around 5:00 yesterday afternoon. you see the cars on the freeway there, driving through the smoke. 600 acres have burned. 40% contained this morning. we want to show you a live look from 580 and flynn road in livermore.

flames forced chp to close both directions of the freeway for hours last night. it is back open this morning. >> the other local fire burning right now is called the bruce fire. it started just before 5:00 last night east of san ramon. it's about fully contained. you can see the plume of smoke from the abc7 viewer photos. calfire says the fire has burned 56 acres. >> abc7 was in pittsburgh where firefighters were mopping up a fast-moving grass fire briefly threatening some buildings there. firefighters say winds helped flames to spread to 20 acres near love ridge road and highway 4. the fire is out now. officials say it started near a homeless camp and destroyed it. no one was hurt, and the cause is still under investigation. the county fire, in napa anduole and yolo counties is 60% contained. it has destroyed ten buildings. is it scorched 141 acres.

developing news. expect delays this morning on vta train service. an investigation still under way after a deadly crash. >> two people died in this crash after police say a car was trying to go around the crossing gates. abc7 news reporter matt keller is live for us in san jose. matt. >> reporter: since i last saw you vta crews left the scene. good news for commuters. the tracks and overhead wires have been repaired here at lincoln avenue. the bus bridge has been canceled and the trains will be operating at 5 miles per hour through the area. expect some delays. the collision happened after 12:30 yesterday afternoon. a gold buick >> we all went out to the car. the dude was barely breathing. people were telling him to stay with them. it's pretty hard to survive a wreck like that. >> reporter: the train operator

and the roughly 20 passengers on board suffered no serious injuries. san jose police say the crossing arms were down and functioning but the man behind the wheel still tried to drive around them. the victims' names have yet to be released. as you can see, the crossing arms are down right now. the trains are moving slowly through the area. it's not even coming through right now even though the arms have been down for a little while now. expect those delays this morning. reporting live in san jose, matt keller, abc7 news. we are tracking the cave rescue in thailand from our live desk. this morning, divers have gotten a seventh boy out of the cave. i wanted to show you a live look here just outside the hospital. you see a little bit of activity there. those rescued boys are being treated at this hospital. officials say the boys are being checked for infections but they appear to be in good health. at least six other boys and their soccer coach remain trapped. the team has been stuck in the flooded cave for more than two weeks now. despite heavy downpours

overnight some good news, the water levels in the cave didn't rise, and the governor says he hopes to hear more good news soon and hopefully get all the boys out quickly. >> many people in the bay area are watching the rescue unfold including those thai americans at the buddhist temple who offered sunday prayers. one member told abc7 news she is hoping the boys, their coach and the rescue divers make it out safely. >> everyone came together to try to make this work. >> rescuers from the u.s., australia, china, and the uk are in thailand to help with that operation. abc7 news will air a special edition of "2020" tomorrow night at 9:00 on the thailand cave rescues. you can find the latest on the rescue efforts by downloading the abc7 news app and enabling push alerts. this morning secretary of state mike pompeo pushing back against north korea's claims that he made gangster-like demands while meeting with officials in pyongyang.

abc7. >> a wild story. this is just such a heartwarming story. jetblue to the rescue. a pet owner thankful for a flight attendant who saved her dog's life. the french bulldog named darcy showed signs of distress on a flight from florida to massachusetts thursday. her tongue was turning blue. she couldn't breathe. so, flight attendants grabbed an oxygen mask to treat the dog for hypoxia. jetblue says it wants to make sure everyone, including passengers with four legs, have a safe and comfortable flight. >> i am glad she is okay. she is a cutie. while we're on the subject of dogs flying. delta airlines starting tomorrow no longer will allow pit bulls to get on a plane. >> a big change. the ban is being implemented along with a revised service and support animal policy at the airplane. passengers will be limited to one emotional support animal per customer per flight. pit bulls will no longer with accommodated on delta along with snakes, spiders and other exotic pets. other airlines have put in

violent weekend. officers responded to shootings involving 12 people. a woman was killed and a man injured on international boulevard near 102nd avenue. they were shot as they were walking to a grocery store. two hours later a 35-year-old man was critically wounded at c street near 98th avenue. just after midnight sunday a man was wounded in a robbery at 89th avenue and international boulevard. friday night, eight people were shot in four separate shootings. police say none of the incidents appear related. the sonoma county sheriff's office reminds people to watch out for mountain lions after two big cats were spotted at a park near some homes. happened in windsor shortly after 9:00 yesterday morning. several people reported seeing a pair of mountain lions at hills regional park on three lakes trail, an area behind homes. heads up. new this morning. starbucks eli plastic

thai navy s.e.a.l. commander. divers restarted their operations this morning, trying to rescue those boys after a successful mission yesterday. i want to show you live pictures from thailand. this is what's happening right now just outside the hospital where those boys are getting treatment. rescuers had planned to take a ten to 20-hour break to replenish oxygen in the cave but they were able to start up a little bit earlier this morning than scheduled. more than a dozen divers, including thai navy s.e.a.l.s, are guiding the boys out. each one has been surrounded by% two divers with a line tethering each team together to reduce the risk of getting lost in the water. >> the restricted environment makes it challenging for even those most experienced divers. much less the kids. >> an update on the four boys pulled from the cave yesterday. we are told they are in good health but are not allowed close contact with relatives due to fear of infections.

california has grown to nearly 54 square miles. >> the klamathon fire on the oregon border is 20% contained. flames killed one person and burned 72 buildings. 810 structures are still threatened. calfire says the fire is threatening two power plants, water systems and endangered species habitats. new developments from that fire. one of three firefighters injured in the klamathon fire is out of the hospital this morning. brandon feller suffered severe burns to his face thursday when his fire engine was overrun by flames. the firefighters union posted this photo of him on facebook. a aou up tofor his expenses. they reached $28,000, well above their goal, so they are no longer accepting donations. >> wish him well. tough to watch. in the middle of destruction, a

happy moment. a couple lost their home in a fire burning in santa barbara fire friday night. firefighters let them back in to search for her wedding ring. as you can see, they found it. it was damaged. but that didn't stop the husband from getting down on one knee and asking his wife to marry him again. this morning, there is a new battle over the direction of miss america. >> the organization in turmoil after the pageant dropped the swimsuit competition and made other changes. they are now calling for members of the board to resign. chairwoman gretchen carlson is a former miss america herself. she took over the organization after an epic scandal claiming sexism, corruption and abuse of the previous leadership. carlson enacted change. last month she announced the end of the swimsuit competition an over the decision. carlson is talking about it on "good morning america." >> this was something that the board had a spirited discussion about. listen, we want to pay tribute
