no paint bleed. for sharp lines every time, frog it! a major sigh of relief heard around the world as a total of eight of the thai soccer team members are now safely out of a flooded cave. we watched this morning as these ambulances delivered four more of the boys to thai hospitals. so again that means eight are out plus four boys plus their coach are still in that cave. the big problem now is time, which is running out because the oxygen is. elizabeth th this.

>> reporter: authorities confirming a total of eight boys are now out including the four rescued yesterday who officials say are quote, good h we're told the same divers who rescued the first four completed today's mission. thai officials calling the rescue operation a success. that operation involving each boy making the trek out of the cave accompanied by two divers with a lead rescuering tethered to the boy and carrying his air tank and then making the 2 1/2 mile journey through a maze of twisted under water passages. once out of the cave the boys are picked up by an ambulance and rushed to this helicopter landing pad. flying to a hospital where an entire floor is on standby waiting for the boys to arrive. and now the standby waiting to save the last four boys and the coach in the cave. with oxygen levels inside the

>> reporter: hi, reggie. you can see a lot of the wreckage and debris here at the site of where this crash happened yesterday afternoon. i spoke the medical examiner's office this morning. they told me they have not yet identified the two people killed in this crash. vta trains rolled through lincoln avenue a lot slower this morning. it took about 17 hours to reopen the section of the tracks in san jose. repairs to the tracks and overhead power lines were completed in time for the morning commute. security video shows the crash. the vta train hit the gold buick regal. the train went off its rails. this picture obtained today from abc 7 news shows the damage. the pole on its side, the train's front window shattered, the car destroyed. >> we all went out to the car and the dude was barely breathing and people were telling him to stay with them.

>> reporter: vta says the regulated speed on the track is 55 miles per hour, but so far they haven't said how fast it was going at the time of the collision. trains will go only 5 miles per hour for now. no word how long those repairs will take. >> thank you, matt. and now developing news out of san francisco. police have launched an investigation after a man was found dead on the stairwell of a bart station. this all happened alt the 24th street mission station. officers discovered the man on the west plaza of the station shortly after 7:30 yesterday morning. the department was identified by san francisco police. the man died at the scene. investigators say there's no evidence of foul play, and we are still waiting for an update of a possible cause. look at what firefighters are dealing with right now. there are 16 active wildfires burning in california. from the oregon border all the way down to the mexico border. we have two right here in the

bay area. the big one is that grant fire and it is just 1 square mile and just 100% contained. now at one point flames forced a temporary highway closure and you can see why. no word yet on what causedthality fire and those lanes are back open. the other local fire burning right now is called the bruce fire. it burned 56 acres and now 100% contained, and you can see that plume of smoke from these abc 7 viewer photos. firefighters continue to make progress against the county fire burning in yolo and napa counties. that is 73%, and mandatory evacuations and still in place. for some perspective on how big this is, if it were burning in the bay area it would basically cover all of san francisco to daly city, san bruno and all the way down to the city of san

mateo. the most destructive wildfire burning right now in california has grown to 55 square miles. it's 30% contained. flames have killed one person and burned 72 buildings. 810 structures are still threatened. cal fire says the fire is also threatening two power plants, water systems and endangered species habitats. happening now in the city of oakland, launching a new tip line and reward fund for information leading to arson arrests. the jobs and housing coalition are at that news conference taking place right now. we're going to have more details later this afternoon on abc 7 news. and new this morning, carpool lanes could be coming to highway 101 in san francisco. the chronicl reports one lane would go in the is southbound direction on 280 all the way up to near san francisco international airport.

ramos joins us from washington with who is on the president's short list. >> reporter: the president seems pretty pumped so far with the rollout of the supreme court justice nominee deliver the n reality show fash tonight on prime time tv president trump will announce who will replace retiring justice anthony kennedy on the supreme court. >> we're very close to making a decision. >> reporter: the president producing the event up to the very last minute. tweeting today, i have long heard the most important decision a u.s. president can make is the selection of a supreme court justice. will be announced tonight at 9:00 p.m. and it is important. the next nominee could be on the court for the next couple of decades and could be a swing vote to overturn cases like roe v. wade, the 1973 decision to legalize abortion. >> if you look at what the

president said, which is he will nominate someone only if that person is committed to automatically overturn roe v. wade. >> reporter: the top four judges were hand picked out of a list of 25 people by a group of conservative lawyers called the federalist society. they're believed to be judge brett senate majority leader mitch mcconnell has stressed a vote to confirm the nominee will happen by the fall. a move angering some democrats who want to wait after the mid-term election. some even calling mcconnell a hypocrite for refusing to hold confirmation hearings for president obama's supreme court choice in 2016. right now the break down in the senate is 51 republicans to 49 democrats. but with senator john mccain battling brain cancer the number

the area where demonstrators have blocked entrances for a week. protesters were calling for the government agency to be abolished. sfpb they warned protesters to leave the area because of restrictions. >> the closure of this walk has also prevented the passage of traffic and emergency vehicles through this quarter. this block is being reopened to coincide with the resumption of regular traffic patterns beginning monday morning. new this morning harvey weinstein pleads not guilty. the movie mogul was back in court today facing a third criminal sex crime charge. weinstein was in handcuffs has he entered the new york courtroom this morning. it follows new allegations he committed a sex crime against a third woman. he was previously indicted on charges involving two of them. a judge released weinstein on bail. more than 70 women have now

accused the 66-year-old of misconduct. starbucks eliminating plastic straws from all of its . the change translates to about a billion plastic straws a year. customers can expect to see straws made from paper or combustible plastic. they're calling them similar to adult sippy cups, if you can imagine. starbucks hopes to eliminate plastic straws by 2020. a cristening took place for the prince at st. james palace in london. lieuo arrived in the arms of his mom, duchess kate. prince william had the other two kids in tow. prince charlotte, meghan markell and the rest of the family also there. the ceremony was private in the small chapel where prince george was kristened still ahead the up grades

deeper into fire season. let's talk about what's going to happen starting today. your accuweather highlight. it's going to be clear and cool tonight with clouds redeveloping near the coast once again. and the extent of that extra humidity, it's going to be amost muggy especially by our standards. there's a slight chance of some sprinkles especially as we move towards wednesday. for today if you're thinking about going on the water you can see it's yellow everywhere for the gusty winds and some of the chop it will create starting at 2:00 this afternoon until 9:00 this evening. so be careful there. here's the way it looks from the east bay hills. it's probably one of those days if the haze is light enough you can see the east bay hills or maybe on top of mount tam. warm to hot if you're exercising especially around the bay and inland, and that small craft advisory if you're going to be
