8 month - seresto, seresto, seresto. >> announcer: live where you live, this is abc7 news. >> developing news, fire crews in the south bay kept very busy this afternoon battling two fast-moving fires. good evening, i'm dan ashley. >> and i'm kristen sze. alma daetz has the night off. the first fire broke out just before 2:00 p.m. in morgan hill, burning 40 acres. then about an hour later, another one broke out just south of san jose. >> that's where abc7 news reporter amanda del castillo is live tonight. amanda? >> reporter: dan, kristen, the main road into the santa teresa park is still shut down at this hour. i was told by a cal fire representative just a few moments ago that crews are expected to be here all night long pushing for full containment. at last check the san jose fire

department says that the curry fire is 85% contained after it burned 70 acres. >> yeah, it's scary. it really is. >> reporter: brian del favez is one of dozens who watched the fast moving fire scorch the hillside behind their san jose homes. the curry fire started around 3:00 tuesday afternoon. hours before, he said he had ridden his bike through the county park. he said conditions were fit for a fire. >> i was up there at 11:00, very dry, windy, hot. >> reporter: at least 120 fire personnel responded. assistants and full air support from cal fire also helped stop this tier 2 fire from spreading. a few miles south, sky map 7 shows you where the hail fire burned in morgan hill in the area bordered by live oak avenue and blossom court. that fire destroying three out

buildings and killing at least four horses. >> that's my compressor. >> reporter: victor silva estimates he lost thousands of dollars in machinery marred by the fire. he says his loss pales in comparison to the family who lost animals. silva says he watched as the flames tore through this dry field. he says he took precautions early on, knowing fire could always be a possibility. >> just a week or two weeks ago i just finished clearing it all out. that's why there was no fire over there where my tractors are at. >> reporter: just one practice captain says is necessary to keep the threat of wildfire as low as humanly possible this hot dry summer. >> it's going to be a very dangerous high volume fire season unfortunately. >> reporter: we're back live at the scene of the curry fire. good news here, there were no structures damaged and no reports of any injuries. i'm live outside of the santa teresa county park tonight, amanda del castillo, abc7 news.

updates as soon as they become available. >> developing news, after a hit and run crash two weeks ago, a beloved member of san francisco's pedi cab community has died. police, city hall and his coworkers are working to try to make sure the person responsible is caught. abc7 news reporter kate larson joins us live from the embarcadero with the story. kate? >> reporter: well, kristen, kevin manning was thrown from his bike and then he hit his head on the pavement here at the embarcadero on sampson street. of course his friends, his family and coworkers are mourning his loss right now. but they are also seeking justice and improved safety for bike lanes here in the city. pedi cabs were noticeably absent along san francisco's embarcadero tuesday night. only a few could be found shuttling families down the busy bike path. one driver told us many of them took the night off after learning kevin manning passed away after his family took him off life support. >> we obviously never expected it would turnout this way. we were holding out a lot of

hope. >> reporter: she is part owner of cab rio taxi. she was on scene after a hit and run driver crashed into kevin's pedi cab on june 27 while he was transporting a family. >> he always had a smile for me. he had a granddaughter, which would talk about his granddaughter. yeah, he's a really wonderful person, we are really devastated. >> reporter: s.f.p.d. suspects this driver in the honda civic is responsible for the hit and run. >> it looks like the su sperkt went to that lane of traffic and umtly took off. >> kevin's death is preventible. >> reporter: he worked at cab rio taxi and hopes drivers will be more mindful of cyclists and pedi cabs. >> if you're out there in your car, be patient. at the end of the day, you getting wherever you're going, 30 seconds faster, isn't worth somebody else's life. >> reporter: i spoke to supervisor aaron peskin tonight

who said his office is working together to get a reward for information on the suspected hit and run driver. he said he's working to get more funding dedicate today transportation and bike lane safety throughout san francisco. but particularly right here along the embarcadero. live in san francisco, i'm kate larson, abc7 news. >> all right, kate, thank you so much. if you want another look at the surveillance video, we have that posted onds our website, abc7news.com. >> the family of a missing oregon woman who was last seen in the bay area is tonight offering $10,000 to help find her. 23-year-old angela hernandez has been missing since friday morning. she was driving from oregon to los angeles when she stopped to sleep behind the safe way at half moon bay. hernandez texted her sister that night and has not been heard from since. >> she is left by a lot of friends and family. strangers at this point. we just want her home.

we want her safe. and as soon as possible. >> investigators tracked her phone to an area one hour south of san jose and attempt to locate her white jeep from the air was sadly not successful. >> an obama era policy president trump ended this spring will now return. today i.c.e. officials announced parents with children under the age of 5 will be given ankle bracelet monitors and released from custody in the u.s. it's a program called catch and release. now, president trump has just criticized it saying it allows immigrants to commit crimes. he ended it as part of his zero-tolerance policy. an estimated 80,000 immigrants currently wear the monitors. >> 18 long days after becoming trapped in a flooded cave in thailand, a young soccer team and their coach are free and safe. tonight we are learning more about how this could have all ended in such disaster if not for the quick and heroic work of those daring rescue divers.

abc news reporter elizabeth hur has more. >> reporter: an incredible ending to a mission that seemed impossible just days ago. all 12 boys and soccer coach rescued by a team of elite divers guided through this narrow passage way. now in a hospital isolation unit. their road to recovery beginning as new details emerge about just how lucky they are to be alive. abc news learning the group got out just in the nick of time. abc's matt gut man reports from thailand. >> reporter: after those navy seals and other rescuers got those four boys, coach, and four thai navy seals out of the cave, other rescuers at 80 or 90 thai navy seals were in there picking up all their equipment when suddenly that main pump that had been taking out hundreds of millions of gallons over the past 2 1/2 weeks gave way. and the seals and the other rescuers had to flee for their

lives. >> announcer: disaster averted with thailand and the world now rooting for these boy's speedy recovery. as for the coach, he has both been criticized for taking the boys into the cave and praised for keeping them alive. turns out while they were still trapped inside, the boys' parents wrote minimum a letter writing in part, do not blame yourself. we are not angry. elizabeth hur, abc news, new york. >> a major disappointment for south bay family who found their stolen moving truck cleared out. abc7 news was in santa clara when the hall family discovered the u-haul truck was nearly empty. it was recovered today following the story about it last night on abc7 news. the halls say they believe their identities were stolen because of this theft and some fraudulent purchases were made in campbell. >> big day in the city tomorrow. london breed will be sworn in as san francisco's first female african-american mayor. abc7 news was at city hall as crews prepared for the

a woman who says a passenger sexually assaulted her on a united flight from hong kong to san francisco is suing the airline. court documents say in 2016 the man allegedly groped her several times while she tried to sleep and then touched himself inappropriately. she claims the flight attendant resisted her request to change seats even after she described what happened. the man was acquitted of criminal charges last year. united's response to abc7 news says it doesn't comment on pending litigation. a dog which won the judge's hearts and votes during the world's uglyest dog contest has sadly died. english bull dog zaza was crowned with the distinction just last month at the

competition in petaluma. she died today in her sleep in minnesa. she was nine years old. the american kennel club said the breed's life-span is typically 8 to 10 years. zaza began life as an under dog spending five years in a puppy mill before she was rescued. >> that's too bad. well, as you probably well know, the bay area's food and drink scene is often fairly innovative. case in point, a new oakland winery producing a wine like no other where flowers, not grapes, are the star of the bottle. abc7 news reporter cornell bernard has the story. >> it's definitely floral and you open the bottle. a beautiful bouquet. >> reporter: winemaker has never grown a grape in his life. but he knows all about flowers and plants, especially those so abundant in the bay area, like lavender. >> there is a lot of infusion-based products out there, ice creams, kombucha, lemonade. we haven't found anything straight up lavender. >> reporter: he says why not

here's a look at your planner. tomorrow morning watch out for the fog along the coast at 7:00 a.m. in the noontime hour it will be sunny bay and inland, still hanging onto the fog along the coast. a little bit cooler for the afternoon hours. a live picture from the abc7 news exploratorium camera. sales force tower barely visible at the top there because of the fog and the low visibility. you can see it from the east bay hills camera as we look back towards san francisco. fog along the coast and bay in the morning. temperatures moderate. we're looking at high skplouds mug i conditions thursday and friday as the summer monsoon shifts a little bit to the west. tomorrow morning as we look hour by hour, watch out for the fog. it's going to be around near the bay and along the coast line between 5:00 and 8:00 a.m. the afternoon hours the fog will sit around near the beaches as we expect around this time of year. temperatures in the morning low 50s to the low 60s. it is going to be better sleeping weather, especially since many homes in the bay area do not have a.c.

tomorrow afternoon, still warm inland in the low 90s, but not quite as warm as we've been seeing along the coast line. temperatures will be in the 60s with that fog hanging tough and everyone else in between right around the bay for your wednesday. i do want to show you the forecast for the giants game tomorrow afternoon. it's a day game against the cubs. 12:45, 63 degrees. you couldn't ask for better weather. nice and mild, 69 degrees for the afternoon hours. so, if you're going to the game, enjoy. you can download the acyu weather alert app and it check out temperatures to help you plan your day. accuweather seven-day forecast, morning fog little cooler for the afternoon as the monsoon flow increases the cloud cover thursday and friday. yes, temperatures are going to trend down, but the humidity is going to come up a little bit. obviously that is going to make it feel a little bit worse for those of you who don't like it humid. temperatures bottoming out in the upper 80s on saturday inland. low 60s coast side. coming right back up again sunday through tuesday, warmer weather, mid 90s by tuesday. i think it's nice to have a break from the heat for a
