back. even reports of drizzle and into san francisco and the bay bridge this morning. we're looking at at western span here. you can see the gray overcast taking over the bay. that has brought us to near 60 this morning. a little cooler yesterday morning. now at the coast, limited sunshine especially compared to the last several days. in the 60s from noon to 4:00. mid to upper 70s around the bay. low 80s to low 90s. while that's still pretty warm. not as warp as it has been. the temperatures are pretty average. we'll talk about the slight chance of sprinkles coming up. here's alexis. >> good morning, mike. i did have to put the bay bridge toll plaza and the metering lights are on as of 5:21. backed up as usual into the maze. it's not terrible yet. keep if mind, taking it for the giants today.

just yesterday the san francisco international airport commission got a step closer to having part of the airport named after lee. the commission approved plans to form a committee to study the topic. they hope to have a recommendation by january. a san francisco pedi cab driver has died two weeks after being injured in a hit-and-run accident. this morning, investigators are now searching for the driver responsible in this. kevin manning was thrown off his bike and hit his head on the pavement at embarcadero and -- he was taken off life support. sfpd is searching for the driver of this honda civic. they hope it's a wakeup call to drivers in the city. >> if you're out there in your car, be patient. at the end of the day, you getting wherever you're going 30 second faster isn't worth somebody else's life. >> san francisco supervisor aaron peskin says his office is working on a reward for information leading to an

arrest. he's also trying to get more funding dedicated to improving transportation and bike lane safety. they suspect street racing was the cause of a deadly crash. a camaro hit a woman in the crosswalk at mission boulevard. she later died at the hospital. police arrested the 21-year-old driver who stayed at the scene and investigators are asking anyone with information to please come forward. the family of a missing oregon woman last seen in the bay area is offering $10,000 to find her. >> 23-year-old angela hernandez has been missing since friday morning. she was driving to los angeles when she stopped to sleep behind a safeway in half moon bay. she texted her sister that night but she hasn't been heard from since. >> she is very loved by a lot of friends and family. strangers, even at this point and we just want her home. we want her home and safe. as soon as possible. >> investigators tracked her phone to an area 1 hour south of

san jose. the sheriff's office flew over the area yesterday searching for her white jeep, but so far the search is empty. a chain of shopping centers shares data with the u.s. immigration and customs enforcement contractor. irvine condition owns nearly 50 shopping centers, including ones in san jose, sunnyvale and santa clara. it uses automated license plate readers and shares the information with vigilant solutions. they finalized a contract with i.c.e. earlier this year. it not only records the plate numbers but also the location, date and time the information is collected. pg&e is facing billions of dollars in damages after the north bay wildfires. we're learning the costs could be passed on to customers. new at 6:00, if you think your commute is bad, you are probably right. i've got the bay area cities just named among the worst u.s.

navy s.e.a.l.s and the boys and their families. state lawmakers are considering a bill to help pg&e cover the cost with bonds. the chronicle reports that critics are calling it a bailout. the costs could be passed on to pg&e customers. they determined faulty equipment triggered some of the fires. the first requires insurance companies to provide copies of the full insurance policy, any endorsements to the policy and declarations to fire victims after a loss. the second requires insurers to disclose fire-related discounts they discover. starting in 2020. if you're a fan of exotic cars, the following video may be hard to watch. a man admiring a pair of lamborghinis in st. louis was taking cell phone video of the cars. look at the van in the background.

it pulled away from the gas station with the hose still attached to the van's gas tank. this is what happened. it sprayed fuel into the engine bay of the blue lamborghini and the car ignited. went up in flames. that's $200,000 up in no one was hurt and the red lamborghini had no damage. close call there, too. tough to watch. i bet there was screaming and yelling and words that aren't appropriate for morning television. >> yes. can you imagine that? >> i cannot. i'm not a huge car enthusiast, but i can appreciate a beautiful car. that's tough to watch. >> what's the first call you make? i guess the insurance company. hopefully. >> all right. let take a look at what you're doing this afternoon. having a t top or retractable top like those cars, it's always nice when you can do that and it's not too hot. the marine layer is back.

out. nurse sharks are usually harmless. not in this case. one shark attacked a southern california woman. she was on vacation in the bahamas. her name is katerina. she got in the water after seeing photos of other people doing the same thing. her boyfriend's father was taking pictures of her when a nurse shark bit her arm. she now has a healthy respect for nature. >> you really need to respect them in their home. if you do go swim with them, if you have the opportunity, you do have to take in consideration the risks and also just maybe don't lean back. >> the man who owns the marina says the sharks may have been feeding so her fingers and limbs may have been tempting. ya think? >>. a few weeks ago an australian woman was hand feeding, again, a nurse shark when one of them grabbed on to her and dragged her into a boat. that didn't go well. she broke her finger, but she

they said it's about 90% contained. they're still sending firefighters up into the foothills here to hike the fire. just to make sure that they can see what's going on. they still have about 10% they want to make sure that they have contained before they walk away from this fire. another crew is expected out here to relieve them. up here, you can see where that fire burned. dangerously close to homes out here in the santa teresa neighborhood. residents are keeping an eye on the flames after the fire started yesterday afternoon. conditions were dry, windy and hot at the time. at least 125 personnel were called out here. cal fire helped out and had full air support trying to stop the tier two fire from spreading. >> you know, i don't think i've ever come this close like a -- i'm pretty sure almost all of san jose fire departments here, it's scary. it really is. >> by 7:15 last night. the last update firefighters had it 85% contained and it burned about 75 acres.

the good news, no structures burned and no one was injured. i did talk to a firefighter. asked him about conditions here. he said it's really scary out here because those conditions are more similar to what you'd see at the end of august, early september rather than early july. reporting live in san jose, matt keller, abc 7 news. >> thank you, matt. now to morgan hill where crews are -- sky map 7 on sky 7 shows us at scene at hale and live oaks avenue yesterday. flames destroyed three structures, including a horse stall. sadly, four horses dried. firefighters had the upper hand. uber's head of human resources resigned following an investigation into how she handled allegations of racial discrimination. liane hornsey's resignation came a day after the news agency contacted uber about the resignation. they accused hornsey of

dismissing complaints about racial discrimination. it raised questions about dara khosrowshahi in changing the culture of the ride hailing giant. a u-haul truck was stolen. police found it in santa clara. almost everything inside of it was gone. the hall family was using it to store their possessions while the floor in their home was updated. the halls believe their identities were stolen because of fraudulent purchases made in campbell on their credit cards. >> police tell us they're following leads in the case. the worst is over for the soccer team rescued in thailand. this morning a thai health official says the boys lost weight but look -- it shows you the hospital room where some are recovering. three of the boys are being treated for lung infection. parents of the first boys who

were rescued were allowed to visit their sons overnight. thr exploring it when monsoon rains flooded the area. it was a high risk mission. the u.s. mission commander in thailand spoke with dwchlt gma this morning and they didn't know if all the boys would make it out alive. >> i think we questioned that the whole time through. so even though we got four for four the first day, it was not much more than cautious optimism the next day because we knew the risk had not gone down any at all. >> but we're so glad all of them were saved. you can watch the full interview at 7:00 on gma right after abc 7 mornings. developing news. the latest on the explosion in wisconsin. a firefighter has died, another critically injured. the gas explosion and fire leveled several buildings in downtown sun prairie which is near madison, wisconsin.

authorities say at least six firefighters were injured along with some civilians when a private contractor hit a natural gas main last night. it started when firefighters investigated the leak and cordoned off the area. that's when the buildings exploded raining debris in a downtown park. it's awful. now to the nato summit. he isn't wasting any time going after u.s. allies. >> he said germany is captive of russia. in the past hour, nato leaders came together to take the official portrait of the summit welcome ceremony. that's what you're seeing on your screen. hours earlier president trump went on a tirade about german imports of russian gas and its slowness to increase defense spending. he also said the u.s. pay too much and other countries don't pay enough. >> we're protecting germany and france and everybody. yet, we're paying a lot of money to protect.

germany is a captive of russia. >> this morning, german chancellor angela merkel responding to the accusation, saying her country makes independent policies and decisions. there's a push happening right now to make green day's american idiot number one in the uk. protesters are basically trolling president trump as he is set to arrive in the uk tomorrow. the berkeley-based band hasn't commented on this push but they have been very vocal about their opposition to the president. the protesters' plan appears to be working. american idiot is number one on the amazon uk best seller's list. it's currently 18th on the official charts at the uk. the song has been out there for a while. goes back to 004. you're never more than seven minutes away -- away from your accuweather foreca forecast. we're up to five degrees cooler. that puts us in the upper 50s to near 60 degrees. up in the hills, warmer.

hotspots this morning. >> yeah. we had debris on westbound 80 in the berkeley area around university. i watched chp run a traffic break. traffic is moving once again. it was reported as a couple different things. first, a large boulder and a bundle of chains. not something you want to hit with your vehicle from he will sir ito through the area. it should improve fairly quickly. it is impacting a drive time. westbound 80. highway 4 to the maze. in the yellow. up to 28 minutes. bay bridge metering lights are on. at this point in the morning, it happened at 5:21. about 12-minute drive across the bay bridge. we have a minor crash beyond the metering lights in the far left lane. crews are working to clear that now. southbound 101, san francisco to sfo. you shouldn't have any issues. that's an agreement. just nine minutes. opponents of an initiative

california will spend $134 million to protect the state's voting systems in the future. counties that want to update their systems will get a reimbursement from the state. new equipment has to be certified by the secretary of state's office. counties will be required to use automated and manual election. >> we require paper ballots and verified paper trail. we require that all these systems used for voting are not connected to the internet. sort of making it impossible to hack or rig an eletion. >> the state will create two offices to monitor security threats against future elections. facebook facing the consequences for that cambridge analytica scandal. a government office says it's going to fine the company 500,000 pounds. that's about $663,000 u.s. this will be facebook's first financial penalty for allowing

address, e-mail and credit card information. macy's is offering free credit protection services for all of its customers. we do have new video that's coming in this morning of drivers in arizona. they had to do a double take after a golf cart with no headlights was spotted on the interstate. definitely would have caught my attention. traffic cam video from the arizona department of transportation shows the golf cart slowly driving on intertate 10 and chandler. this happened around 4:00 this morning. state troopers eventually stopped the car on the side of the freeway. right now, we don't know why the driver of the golf cart was out on the freeway in the first place. it really is amazing that nobody crashed into him. because he's barely visible. >> no kidding. he looks so tiny compared to the semi trucks he's going by. >> oh, my gosh. you know what this reminds me of. the owner of the bumper car place who drove it on the road.
