good morning bay area. we want to start with a look from the exploratorium camera. hopefully you're sitting down right now. there's a chance of a thunderstorm, what? i repeat, there's a chance of a thunderstorm. do not panic. it is, in fact, july 12th. not woken up on a different month. you've not been asleep that long. you're never more than seven minutes away from your accuweather forecast. here to explain it all, meteorologist mike nicco. >> hey, guys. watching low clouds. that's when a chance of a stray thunderstorm or two rolls through the neighborhood as the monsoon steers moisture towards our neighborhood. a little bit of drizzle along the coast and across the golden gate and the bay bridge. a lot like yesterday. you can see the gray out there. most of us becoming cloudy. a little bit of a sea breeze developing once again. our temperatures are milder this morning. upper 50s to mid-60s. we expected that with the

increasing humidity. mid to upper 70s around the bay. mainly mid to upper 80s inlan. high clouds roll in at 7:00. thunderstorms follow. i'll talk more about that next. let's get a check of that commute. here's alexis. >> i have one new issue, though. if you're traveling through the santa cruz mountains, this is the counter commute direction. highway 17 near summit road we've got a disabled vehicle blocking the far right lane. whoever called it in, it's a blind curve there. no lights on that vehicle. obviously, dangerous situation. hopefully that driver is out of the vehicle and chp is on the way to the scene. still on the richmond side of the richmond-san rafael bridge. we'll take a look at drive times coming up next. >> thanks, alexis. east bay residents are shocked after they got an anti-semitic robo call to support a republican candidate running for congress. >> john fitzgerald says he has nothing to do with the call

despite his own anti-semitic views. >> fitzgerald denies the holocaust ever happened and he says that israel uses congress and american soldiers in their quest for world domination. abc 7 news reporter lilian kim has more. >> republican john fitzgerald of concord is hoping to unseat another congressman. many have never heard from him. when voter ann nicholson listened to a call supporting his candidacy, it brought her tears. >> unfortunately, our world is going in the way of big lies right now. it's very troubling time to be alive. >> the robo call says it was paid for by the road to power.com which has had racist messages in the past. he said i have no affiliation to road to power or any of his, their affiliates or organizations. >> the rhetoric is similar to

flooded cave. new video shows the parents meeting the heroes who saved their sons' lives. divers from around the world assisted in the rescue. many of them say this was the most challenging dive they've ever taken on. >> it was to get the kid out from the water, take the mask off, put in stretchers, gently holding their hands so they don't get tangled. if they're stressed, don't pull the mask off. nobody has heard of a big operation and ends up this good. >> an update on the boys recovering in the hospital is coming up at 7:00 on gma after abc 7 mornings. san jose is setting up a fight between bike advocates and businesses. the city wants to make it easier and safer to ride a bike in san jose, but not everyone is ready to ride-along with that plan. reporter matt keller is live in san jose for us. hi, matt. >> reporter: good morning, jessica. check out all these cars parked

here on san salvador street. when this project is done, there will be no parking between 7th and 8th streets. these cars will be gone. bike lanes will be added all around downtown san jose. parts of the project involving parking, adding lanes. this could be a major problems. where are the customers going to park? the city says it leads to better safety and bike ways throughout san jose. >> growing as gridlock grows. more cycles need to be on the roads. >> i don't know how the fire trucks will get through. we're losing parking. we will have a big problem getting in and out of our driveways, which i showed to d.o.t. and we're going to lose businesses. >> san jose's department of transportation says recent education, outreach and improved infrastructure helped to significantly reduce bike and pedestrian crashes. construction starts next month.

we set up a link on the website with more details on what the project is going to entail and where the bike lanes are going. reporting live in san jose, matt keller, abc 7 news. matt, thank you. a quick look here for our viewers. you can see there are a lot of new lanes being added and for that closer look, just head to abc7news.com. the east bay park pulled the plug on an upcoming music festival. abc 7 news was in antioch where the xo music festival was supposed to kick off tomorrow. it canceled the event because of safety concerns. the park says the promoter, world class entertainment, failed to provide proof of liability for the contractors. they did not comment on the permit claims but says ticket holders will get a refund. investigators say an improperly installed electric livestock fence is to blame for the massive county fire burning near lake bear yes, sir a. it started on june 30th. it's burned 90,000 acres and destroyed 20 structures.

the fire is 89% contained. it's still burning, though. all evacuation orders have been lifted and the responsible party has been cited. check out these temperatures on the peninsula. we're flirting with 60 about everywhere. belmont 59. redwood city. and menlo park 62. mid-50s from half moon bay towards daly city. let's look at the east bay shore. upper 50s to near 60. same thing in the south bay. we hit 65 in los gatos. 67 in antioch for the warm spot. napa and san rafael, 55 degrees. a look at san jose with the clouds creeping on in. going to the beaches today, it will be a day of grayness with a few sunny spots. not too breezy. all right. rising humidity if you're thinking about exercising, especially this afternoon. it will be drier this afternoon on the bay. got some small areas of drizzle this morning. here's a look at san francisco. mainly cloudy and 59. behl see the sun start to break through the clouds.

at 16 minutes. alexis, thank you. the california naacp is joining california builders and realtors to fight against a rent controlled ballot proposition. proposition 10 would allow california cities to expand rent control. right now, properties built after 1995 are exempt from rent control. but this proposition would do away with that meaning all properties could be placed under rent control. opponents say this would lead to fewer units being available for rent. >> what it does is it strikes fear in anybody who owns any land. fear that they're not going to get any fair compensation on their own investment. >> meanwhile, supporters of the measure say tenants need immediate relief from outrageous rent increases. >> marin and sonoma counties getting into the bike sharing craze. a plan is being formulated to create a network of bikes at transit rail stations, aka smart and key destinations along the corridor. according to the marin ij, the

exchanges face first like over the scooter. >> oh, man. i feel bad for her. that looks awful. this has led to an uptick in lawsuits related to electric scooter accidents. one personal injury attorney in beverly hills tells gma he sees one to two cases a day. electric scooters are temporarily off the streets as the city rolls out a permit program. it's likely going to return in a few weeks. airbnb can boost tourism in some areas but black and hispanic neighborhoods are not seeing a benefit according to a new study. >> airbnb users typically eat at neighborhood restaurants in the area where they're staying leading to growth and restaurant employment. purdue university researchers say that doesn't hold true when a majority of the residents are hispanic or black. san francisco was among the cities included in the study. airbnb issued a statement saying they use a subjective and voluntary input to draw conclusions.

others turn around and go back to what they were doing. >> bad personality. >> he's just independent. >> that's a nice way to spin it, mike. thank you. >> let's talk about what's going on. we may have an independent thunderstorm or two rolling through tonight. here's a look at san rafael. it's becoming a little cloudy. temperature around 59, 60 degrees. humidity in the air. i haven't heard of any drizzle in your neighborhoods. just mainly along the coast. low marine layer clouds and high clouds blowing in. seasonal temperatures today. thunderstorms possible tonight. then an easing of the humidity while the heat builds through the weekend and into next week. the clouds will be hard to shake today. temperatures in the mid to upper 60s across san francisco. so the microclimate getting smaller. as far as the east bay, you can see a lot of cloudiness, a little bit of a window of sunshine heading through the luch-hour. 70 at richmond. 80 in san leandro and free mobt. hercules at 80 degrees. peninsula, high clouds rolling in this afternoon into the

evening hours. the extra sunshine earlier will lead you into the upper 70s to low 80s. except for at the coast, it will be partly sunny and mid-60s. down in the south bay today, temperatures that will range from about 78 sunnyvale, 87 in san jose to gilroy at 92. up in the north bay, yep, a little bit of sunshine and one of our better chances for an area of thunderstorms tonight with mid-80s for the most part. our last stop the inland east bay neighborhoods where once again it's going to be warm enough to run the air conditioner. 87 in san ramon. to 95 in brentwood. my accuweather seven-day forecast. it remains muggy tomorrow. the chance of thunderstorms tapers during the afternoon hours. you can see the heat next week with morning fog and afternoon sunshine. alexis? >> all right. still quiet out there. really the only problem on the boards right now is that you're traveling through the santa cruz mountains. the southbound side of highway 17 sounds like someone ran out of gas. so not a great spot for that to happen. right around the summit. just south of summit road.

abc 7 news now has three videos showing the same passenger on three different days. it appears as if he's smoking meth openly on a b.a.r.t. train. one was shot by a viewer, another by a producers. on the right-hand side of the screen, that's video i actually shot of this guy on a train i was riding. making things worse, the man sits on priority seating normally reserved for people with disabilities or pregnant women. this is a complicated problem for b.a.r.t. police. it's considered a low level drug offense. usually only worth a citation. >> an officer has to witness it personally or a rider who witnesses it has to be willing to report it to police and then stay there until one of our officers arrives and act as a witness in the case. >> b.a.r.t. could impose a prohibition oordt banning this person for a certain amount of time. but it is a lot to take on. because he would need to be cited three times within 90 days to qualify for that.

news. amy, thank you. two san jose families are looking for a place to live following a fire that ripped through their homes. we were in san jose as they assess the damage yesterday. the fire appears to have started between the two homes. a neighbor tried to put out the flames with a garden hose. but had to watch as the fire spread to her house. >> it's devastating. we were able to go inside and i was able to look at the damage. it's overwhelming. it really is. >> i feel for her. firefighters definitely had a tough time. they were challenged by a gas meter that buckled and ruptured in the fire. the good news, no one was hurt. we're getting new details about the arrest of adult star stormy daniels at a strip club in ohio that happened in columbus last night. this is new video of daniels being taken into the police station getting booked on misdemeanor charges. the police report says daniels

aids walk coming up in san francisco. we'll see breaks in the cloud cover by the time we get to the lunch-hour at 60 degrees. rain is being blamed for starting a fire that engulfed a safeway store in phoenix. at one point the roof on the building collapsed. it broke out in the middle of a thunderstorm. it's unclear if lightning sparked the fire. people inside the safeway said the store shook before the flames appeared. that is something else. the phoenix fire department says everyone was able to get out. no one was hurt. as you can see, that store is a complete loss. you may be losing twitter followers today. the social media platform is planning to purge tens of millions of accounts. >> twitter is getting rid of suspicious accounts it previously locked. they will disappear from your follower list. a spokesperson says it's to make it more accurate and transparent. they had suspicious behavior like sudden tweets, bad links or
