this morning. passengers say they were informed about a failure in the left engine 45 minutes into the flight. one passenger told us she heard two loud sounds and two sparks after takeoff. no one was hurt and in a statement united airlines says there was a mechanical issue, saying quote the flight landed safely and we will work to get our customers to sydney as soon as possible. the maintenance team is inspecting the aircraft. this morning the search is on for this man, dubbed the faux badge bandit. the fbi says he robbed four ngs banks in the bay area. >> the bare is the most recent area targeted in the state according to vierkandts. >> mat keller live in san ramon. one of the previously places the faux badge bandit hit. matt. >> good morning. this man is considered armed and dangerous. the latest robbery happening here at the safeway inside the us bank in san ramon. look at the photo that is came

from the surveillance cameras inside this store. he hit several banks in the bay area. one in sacramento. several in southern california. the fbi is calling him the faux badge bandit. he has been wearing a 7-point badge on the hip along with a shoulder holster. an hour before he robbed the bank on san ramon he flashed a gun at a tiller at the first republic bank in danville on heart as avenue around noon and demanded money. the ep sheriff's office says the bandit has rubd in cupertino in june and july. he is fair complected and acne scars 6 feet tall weighing about 230 pounds. the fisher says if you see him don't approach him. call 911. reporting live in san ramon, abc 7 news. thank you matt. happening today a man accused of two violent crimes against a woman is expected to be in court. according to the police the 31-year-old was arrested at the hey wrpd b.a.r.t. station on wednesday for punching the victim. he is accused of raping the same

maps. one of the biggest trouble spots has cleared. westbound highway 4 in pittsburgh. we had a crash near love ridge. gone now. still a little bit of stop and g in the area down to 31 miles an hour. trying to get to the bottom of that. kind of an early backup even after that cleared. i do know that pittsburgh antioch highway was closed overnight to repair some power lines that fell. and they were hoping to have it done by 6:00 or 7:00 this morning between love ridge and 14th. i'm thinking extra folks taking highway 4 today to avoid that. in the meantime bay bridge toll plaza metering lights on. appear 7:25. that's filling in too. next traffic update at 5:40. >> now to developing news overnight. passengers on a united flight leaching sfo say the engine caught fire smorlt after taking off. >> now look at the route the plane took. this is footage from flight aware. you can see it loops around several times. trying to burn off fuel. this was supposed to go far from

san francisco to sydney. didn't make it much farther off our coast. amy holleyfield live with more on that hi, amy. >> good morning, reggie. we have video of landing. take a look at united flight 863 touches back down at sfo after having engine trouble. this happened at 12:35 this morning. passengers say it was about a half hour or 45 minutes into the flit. and the ride got bumpy. some say they heard two loud noises and saw sparks. the pilot then announced gnat left engine had caught fire and they needed to land. >> we were i guess prewarned so not too nerve-racking i mustera control and in control and were were working fine. >> here is the statement united airlines emailed the newsroom. the flight landed safely and we will work to get our commerce to sydney as soon as possible.

incident. oakland police offering a $5,000 reward to whoever opened fire in oakland hitting a 3-year-old boy in the head. we first told you about in yesterday morning. the toddler is now recovering at children's hospital oakland. his parents were attending a memorial service for a murder victim on 80th avenue near holley street when someone fired shots. the bullet sh rap until knell hit the boy 3 years ol. police have no motivates or suspects and they are witnesses to come forward. a man who spols say admits to exposing himself dozens of times across the bay area expected to make the first court appearance today. officers joseph him after finding him naked outside of a san jose apartment complex on wednesday. police used a tazer to subzu and arrest him. investigators say he admitted to exposing himself recently in fremont, newark and pleasanton and doing it 25 others times in the past. porn actress stormy daniels performed at an ohio strip club
