traditional fashion, by 11:00 that fog should pull back to the coast and we're on our way to a sunny afternoon. we'll take a look at how the rest of the weekend is shaping up and that is in a few minutes. developing news out of the east bay. the chp has shut down all lanes of eastbound interstate 80 and berkeley due to a possible shooting. sheriff shared this photo off twitter of officers in the middle. three people were injured and this happened near gilman street. no estimated time the lanes will reopen. we have calls into the chp for more information. the oregon woman missing for a week has been found alive. 23-year-old portland resident angela hernandez was found late last night with injuries in monterey county. pictures from the monterey county sheriff's office show her on the rocks with rescuers around her. a couple found her wrecked white jeep over the campground. it had gone over the cliff south of big sur.

a chp helicopter flew hernandez to a hospital with a possible shoulder injury. she told her rescuers she had been stranded on the cliffside since last friday. she used the radiator hose from her car to divert water from the stream to stay hydrated. >> she used that to get water into her system. she was a trooper the whole time and never complained and was just extremely grateful to be alive. >> hernandez's family is on their way to the hospital and they are e lated that she has been found and is okay. >> as always, you can find the latest developments on our website, abc 7 news.com and also on the abc 7 news app. be sure to sign up for push alerts as they come in. >> time now is 5:02. betty yee is recovering after being involved in an accident from alameda to

oakland. yee, her husband and chp bodyguard have non-life-threatening injuries. they were rear ended by a man supected of driving under the influence of marijuana. the man has been identified as 25-year-old aaron george. another car was also hit. george suffered major injuries. the chp says the suspect will face dui charges once he's discharged from the hospital. new detail, the peninsula man accused of posing as a ride share driver to rape women is under arrest. we're also hearing from a ride share company who says the suspect once drove for them. quinnel bernard has more. >> sarah and her husband isaac watched the arrest of 37-year-old orlando vilchez lazo that happened across the street from their home. lazo raped four women over the past five years while posing as a ride share driver.

>> i knew something was up, but thought a four-time rapist would have been right across the street. >> san francisco police said lazo intercepted women as they left nightclubs and bars mistaking his car for one they ordered. the first assault was in 2013, the last just this past june. these assaults were violent rapes committed by a serial rapist, a sexual deviant predator who is not going to stop until he was caught. >> police say dna evidence linked lazo to the assaults. ride share companies reacted quickly. lyft reacted and says we have confirmed that this person did drive for lyft, but as soon as we were made aware of these horrific and deeply disturbing allegations we immediately deactivated him. uber saying the suspect is saying the suspect is not an uber driver and never was. >> someone inside the apartment where lazo was arrested asked us

to leave. neighbors now breathing a collective sigh. >> that happened, but it's great that he's off the streets. >> and police believe lazo may have sexually assaulted more victims. they asked survivors and witnesses to come forward and lazo is held on $4 million bail. cornell bernard, abc 7 news. uber is running continuous background checks on its drivers. the company is using the new service that tracks the criminal records of drivers in real time. 25 people have been banned from driving since it began last month. the move comes after a cnn investigation found 103 uber drivers have been accused of sexually assaulting or abusing passengers. new developments with the wildfire in napa and yolo counties. the county fire is now 97% contained and barring the unforeseen, they expect to have full containment tomorrow. the massive wildfire started two weeks ago and has scorched 90,000 acres and has destroyed

20 structures. investigators say it was intalled by a fence for livestock. it was an emotional evening in the east bay. hundreds came together to remember the lives of two brothers killed in a horrific katie utehs has more on what's been done for the family. >> junior high students are surrounding the cooper family with love. earlier this week brothers hodari and hakim died in a crash involving a semitruck in bakersfield. >> thank you all. i feel every last one of you, and i thank you from the bottom of my heart. >> 13-year-old hakim's classmates planned a candlelight vigil at martinez junior high school. >> his personality was huge. he had an impact on people that made them feel happy. >> hakim was a smart, brilliant young man, and he could have been a lot. could have been a lot. >> kalil branch remembers his

is a key difference. supporters of the measure say citizens should vote first and then fight it out in court. opponents believe the court fight should come before a possible vote. the state supreme court is expected to take up the measure next week. with aids walk san francisco coming sunday, we're looking at bay area organizations who have had a positive impact on the fight against hiv and aids. one local hospital helps people by testing for hiv in the emergency room. abc news anchor explains why more doctors would like to see this become routine at every hospital and it's a story you'll see only on abc 7 news. when alan marker it was to find out why he felt weak and out of breath. the fiendings from a simple blood test would change his life. >> they told me i had walking pneumonia and that's why i was there and also, on top of that you're hiv positive. >> reporter: for more than a decade the centers for disease

control and prevention has recommended that hospitals test for the virus that causes aids in emergency rooms. most do not and many patients won't seek testing themselves because of the stigma. >> it has driven people away from conventional testing in some cases because they don't want to be associated with what a positive result means and that's why the emergency room testing program is so important. >> whenever an ambulance brings somebody to the bay center and blood is drawn. it is route heeninely for hiv u they opt out. 6300 patients have been tested and more than two dozen found out they were hiv-positive who may not have found out otherwise. >> it takes as long as 30 seconds. >> patients can be transferred seamlessly into what used to be known into the hospital's east bay aids center, but the system has been so successful that alta bay summit has changed the name

using repellents and avoiding outdoors especially at dawn or dusk. new this morning the group of boys rescued from a cave in thailand are recovering and could be out of the hospital by thursday. these images were just released showing the soccer team at the hospital. some of them are seen drawing sketches and others are holding up victory signs or praying and the hospital says despite all they went through the boys are in good health aside from a few minor inspections. they were trapped more than two weeks in a cave and had to be led out by rescuers one at a time. nancy sinatra, the wife of legendary singer frank sinatra has died at 101. they married in 1939 and as a present he gave her a record of a song called "our love." they had three children together before splitting up in 1951. her daughter also named nancy remembers her as a blessing and the lightf

time now is 5:14. wo we're taking a lhe flag floppin around this morning. we'll get the accuweather forecast from drew tuma in just a bit. problem with your car you usually go to the neck anec or dealer, but can you get your car repaired without having to go to the repair shop? michael finney is here with the answer. >> look under the hood of many new cars and it is clear that current car technology is based more on computers than combustion. and add to that 70% of car brands allow wireless data connection and many of them are able to send over the air or ota updates for things like adding satellite radio channels or updating navigation maps, but tesla's recent over the air update made an improvement to the car's braking system.

although the way this adjustment was made was unique, many vehicles today made repairs especially when they're involved in a safety recall. every year, automakers and the federal government issue hundreds of recalls and because one in four recalled vehicles on the road has not been fixed, there are likely millions of car owners who may not even realize their vehicles need repairs. so could over the air updates be the future of car repair? >> what cars are becoming computers on wheels there's still a lot of hardware. a lot of things are software controlled and those things can be updated over the air, but when it comes to hardware stuff, think about it, suspension, springs, transmissions and a lot of that hardware, you're still going to have to bring it back to the dealer and you need an update. >> consumer reports says the prospect of this technology could be pretty great, being able to receive an over the air update that would not require you to bring the car into a dealership could save owners

time and automakers money. how far off is this scenario? >> several automakers already have this capability and more are on their way, but there are risks because while they can update their car to make it better they can also potentially have a mistake. they need to clearly communicate these changes to the drivers because something changes in the way you use your car and you need to understand that. i'm michael finney. 7 on your side. >> you can use consumer reports recall tracker tool and end your vehicle's year, make and model and get a list of recalls along with information on how to get your car fixed for free. we put a link on our website, abc 7 news.com. an alameda company will build our nation's first hydrogen fuel cell ferry. it's being paid for with a $3 million grant. it creates hydrogen from water

glitch, it runs from the old original zoo, up the hillside and a brand-new california trail section that just opened yesterday. some tweeted these photos describing humans stuck in gondola cages. many called for help, contacting the zoo on their cell phone. >> they say oh, the fire department's here, don't worry. we're going to evacuate you. how are we going to evacuate us. >> we're over three stories and i have a daughter in a wheelchair. >> zoo officials say the 1-year-old swiss-made ride had a digital glitch that caused the system to shut down unexpectedly. a bizarre road rage incident in los angeles is caught on camera. you can see the driver in the suv take off the door of a toyota prius. the drivers were in some sort of argument and things escalated rather quickly. >> i heard a burn of cars honking and screeching. i step outside and i look over the there's a car driving off with another car's door stuck to it chasing

good morning, everyone. time right now is 5:40 and we're taking a live look outside from our east bay hills camera. you can see this part of the bay area with the cloud cover out there and the fog rolling through. we'll get a full check of the accuweather forecast from meteorologist drew tuma in just a bit, but first, happening today in san francisco leaders are expected to announce when non-citizens can register to vote in the upcoming board election. voters approved a measure last month to allow non-citizen members to vote for members of the board of education. residents must live in the city and be at least 18 years old and be a parent or legal guardian of a child in the sn-tins loc elections. more dmv offices will be open on saturday in response to

elsewhere, we're doing okay with that visibility. that sun is coming up and a gorgeous shot and a live look showing you the fog right along the immediate coastline. as you go hour by hour for you on future weather. 7:00, you can see the cloud cover in and around the bay, but by 10:00, 11:00 in the morning we do expect the fog to pull into the coast and sunshine in the afternoon and we'll take a look at how hot we'll get today in a few minutes. the chp has shut down all lanes of -- all lanes of eastbound interstate 80 in oakland due to a possible shooting. you can see the chp officers walking in the middle of the freeway looking for evidence. berkeley reports three people were injured and this happened near gilman street and no estimated time the
