amount of fog close to the coast of the contour. visibility is an issue, and we are down to a mile and elsewhere, we're doing okay with that visibility. that sun is coming up and a gorgeous shot and a live look showing you the fog right along the immediate coastline. as you go hour by hour for you on future weather. 7:00, you can see the cloud cover in and around the bay, but by 10:00, 11:00 in the morning we do expect the fog to pull into the coast and sunshine in the afternoon and we'll take a look at how hot we'll get today in a few minutes. the chp has shut down all lanes of -- all lanes of eastbound interstate 80 in oakland due to a possible shooting. you can see the chp officers walking in the middle of the freeway looking for evidence. berkeley reports three people were injured and this happened near gilman street and no estimated time the lanes were reopened. we have calls into the chp for

more information. the oregon woman missing for a week has been found alive. portland resident angela hernandez was found late last night with injuries in monterey county. pictures show her on the rocks with rescuers around her. a couple found her wrecked vehicle near the kirk creek campground. it had gone over the creek along 101 south of big sur. a chp helicopter flew hernandez to the hospital in monterey county with a possible shoulder injury. she told her rescuers she'd been stranded on the cliffside since last friday. she used the radiator from her car to divert water from th stream to stay hydrated. >> she used that to get some water into her system. it goes to show you how resilient she was. she was a trooper the whole time and never complained and was just extremely grateful to be alive. hernandez's family is now on their way to the hospital and they tell abc 7 news they are

elated that she has been found and is okay. as always, you can find the latest developments on our website abc 7 news.com and also on the abc 7 news app. be sure to sign up for push alerts to get updates as they come in. california state controller betty yee is recovering after being involved in an down from alameda to oakland. they have nonlife-threatening injuries from the accident yesterday afternoon. they were rear ended by a man suspected of driving under the influence of marijuana. the man has been identified as 25-year-old aaron george. another car was also hit. george suffered major injuries. the chp says the suspect will face dui charges once he's discharged from the hospital. a peninsula man accused of posing as a ride share driver to rape women is now under arrest. we are hearing from a ride share company who says the suspect once drove for them.

cornell bernard spoke to the man's neighbors who say they can't believe it. >> they went in there and next thing we know he came out in handcuffs. >> reporter: sarah and her husband isaac watched the arrest of 37-year-old orlando vilchez lazo that happened at this apartment house across the street from their home in san mateo. lazo raped four women over the last five years while posing as a ride share driver. >> i knew something was up, but never in a million years i would have thought a four-time rapist would have been right across the street. >> reporter: san francisco police say lazo intercepted random women as they left nightclubs and bars in soma mistaking his car for one they ordered. the first assault was in 2013, the last just this past june. >> these assaults were violent rapes committed by a serial rapist, a sexual deviant predator who was not going to stop until he was caught. >> reporter: police say dna evidence linked lazo to the assaults. ride sharing companies reacted quickly. lyft revealing in a statement we have confirmed this person did

drive for lyft, but as soon as we were made aware of these deeply disturbing allegations we immediately deactivated him. lyft adds it doesn't believe any of the assaults occurred on their platform. uber said the suspect is not an uber driver and never was. >> someone inside the apartment where lazo was arrested asked us to leave. neighbors now breathing a collective sigh. >> it's great that he's off the streets. >> and police believe lazo may have sexually sauled more victims. they ask survivors or witnesses to come forward. lazo is being held on $4 million bail. in the newsroom, cornell bernard, abc 7 news. uber is now running continuous background checks on its drivers. the company announced yesterday it's been using a new service that tracks the criminal records of drivers in real time. 25 people have been banned from driving since it began last month and the move comes after a cnn investigation found 103 uber drivers have been accused of

sexually assaulting or abusing passengers. new developments with the wildfire in napa and yolo counties. the county fire is now 97% contained and barring the unforeseen they expect to have full containment material. the massive wildfire started two weeks ago and has scorched more than 90,000 acres and it has destroyed 20 structures. investigators say it was started by an improperly installed electric fence for livestock. it was an emotional evening in the east bay. hundreds came together last night to remember the lives of two brothers killed in a horrific crash. abc 7 news reporter katie utehs has more on what's being done for the family. ♪ >> junior high students in martinez are surrounding the cooper family with love. brothers hodari and hakim died in a head-on crash involving a semitruck in bakersfield. >> you guys are sending strength to me. i feel every last one of you,

bc 7 news. >> the proposal to split california into three states has ignited a legal battle. proposition 9 which would divide california has qualified for the november ballot and a group led by the planning and conservation league is suing to get it yanked. court documents show both sides believe there will be a big legal battle. supporters of the measure thinks citizens should vote first and fight it out in court. they believe it should come before a possible vote. the state supreme court is expected to take up the measure next week. with aids walk san francisco coming on sunday, we're looking at bay area organizations who have had an impact on the fight against hiv and aids. abc 7 news anchor, eric thomas explains why more doctors would like to see this become routine at every hospital and it's a story you will only see on abc 7 news. >> reporter: when allen macker came to alta bay summit it was

to find out why he felt weak and out of breath. the findings from a simple blood test would change his life. >> they told me i have walking pneumonia and that's why i was there and also on top of that you're hiv-positive. >> reporter: for more than a decade, the centers for disease control and prevention has recommended that hospitals test for the virus that causes aids in emergecy rooms and most do not, and many patients won't seek testing themselves because of the stigma. >> it has driven people away from conventional testing in some cases because they don't want to be cease yated with what a positive result means and that's why the emergency room testing program is so important. >> reporter: whenever an ambulance brings someone to alta bay summit medical center and blood is drawn it is routinely tested for hiv unless the patients opt out. patients can say no, most do not. 6300 patients have been tested and more than two dozen found out they were hiv-positive who

costa county after chicken tested positive for the west nile virus. a total of seven tested positive on holland tract road near knightsen. residents can reduce their risk of contracting the virus by draining standing water and using repellents and avoiding the outdoors where mosquitos are present especially at dawn or dusk. new this morning the group of boys rescued from a cave in thailand are recovering and could be out of the hospital by thursday. these images were just released showing the soccer team at the hospital. some of them are seen drawing sketches and others were holding up victory signs or praying. the hospital says despite all they went through the boys were in good health aside from minoren feminor infections and had tab led out by rescuers. >> nancy sin at rashgs the first wife of legendary sanger frank sin at r has died at the age of

of many new cars and it is clear that current car technology is based more on computers than combustion. and add to that around 70% of car brands now offers some kind of wireless data connection. many of them are able to send over the air or ota updates for things like adding satellite radio channels or updating navigation maps. tesla's recent over theary update made an improvement to the car's braking system. although the way this adjustment was made was unique, many vehicles today need repairs especially when they're involved in a safety recall. every year automakers and the federal government issued hundreds of recalls and because one in four recalls have not been picked there are likely millions of car owners who may not even realize their vehicles need repairs. so could over the air updates be the future of car repair?

happening today in san francisco leaders are expected to announce when non-citizens can register to vote in the upcoming school board lech. vote election. >> residents must live in the city, be at least 18 years old and be a parent or legal guardian of a child in the san francisco unified school district. san francisco is the first city in california to allow non-citizens to vote in local elections. more dmv offices are going to be open on saturdays in response to longer wait times. customers say new license requirements are making for lengthy delays. the dmv had announced that some offic offices would start offering saturday service. it is adding 17 more starting
