alexis. >> good morning. a headache in the south bay, 101 around oakland road, multicar crash, sounds like two vehicles involved and that is blocking lane number three. so that middle right lane you are already slow south of the 268, 80 merge. that is a tough spot to have lanes down once you make it past that everything is looking great. here's 101 at the 880 interchange and the northbound traffic moving. a trouble spots in tracy and the bay bridge toll plaza is pretty stacked up this morning. we will check out those coming up next. >> thank you. happening right now, at this very minute, presidents trump and putin in helsinki, finland, for a summit in a final crucial stop on president trump's week-long diplomatic tour throughout europe. >> president trump hopes to improve relations between the u.s. and russia, however he is blaming president obama for the deteriorated relationship rather than blaming russianhi ts morni trump predicted his meeting will

to serious health problems including tumors and cancer. most people dread going to the dmv because of all the long lines and frustration. >> but now the department has a plan. expanding the hours so hopefully you won't have to wait like this. >> abc 7 news reporter matt keller live in san jose. hi, matt. >> good morning, jessica and reggie, could be tough to come up with good news when talking about the dmv but this dmv in san jose is going to be opening up early today. hopefully that will help with the long, long lines. we'll have to wait and see. some people told us they've waited several hours just to be seen. dmv says the longer wait times are due to the implementation of real i.d. a line system and the addition of the electronic driver's license and i.d. card applications. starting today two bay area field offire opening up earlier four days a week, in the oakland, claremont field office and here at the san jose driver's license processing center on center road. they will open up at 7:00 on mondays, tuesdays, thursdays,

and friday. the dmv is opening up a total of 14 bay area field offices every saturday starting in august that includes claremont, san jose processing center, plus offices in concord, daly city santa rosa and vallejo and hiring more people just to help out. reporting live in san jose, matt keller, abc 7 news. >> has to help make it better. thank you. this bart passenger repeatedly seen smoking what appears to be meth on a train is now in jail. but it's not for the drug use. bart police identified the man as 42-year-old tracy daniels of oakland. many riders have complained of being exposed to dangerous secondhand smoke. i actually took one of those s that. officers arrested him for an outstanding warrant and found him after getting a call from an oakland resident. the resident saw daniels harassing merchants near the lake merritt bart station. >> he needed to go to be

evaluated at this point. seems he needs to be somewhere where they can do an evaluation of what his needs are. >> he was wanted for being an accessory to a crime, a felony. it's not clear how long he's going to remain in jail. a driver in critical condition after a crash with an amtrak train in newark. abc 7 news at saint isabelle avenue after the collision yesterday morning. witnesses say the woman drove around the crossing gates as the train approached. amtrak says nobody on board the train was hurt and it was a san jose to sacramento bound train. another train picked up the 24 passengers after the crash. new video shows the damage done by a fire at a 7-eleven store in fremont. flames never spread to the inside of the store on mission boulevard and miles canyon road. the fire broke out about 3:30 yesterday morning. investigators believe someone may have set the fire intentionally. it took about 20 minutes to get the fire under control and no one was hurt. the soccer team rescued in thailand is honoring the former

navy s.e.a.l. who died during that operation. health officials released new photos of the 12 boys and their coach in the hospital showing their gratitude on saturday. they wrote messages on a portrait of saman kunan the navy s.e.a.l. who volunteered in the rescue operation. he died placing oxygen tanks in the cave. the massive county fire in napa and yolo counties is 100% contained. cal fire hopes to have the fire out soon. the fire started two weeks ago, burning 141 square miles and destroying 20 buildings. one firefighter was hurt during the fight. investigators say an improperly installed electric livestock fence started the fire. new at 6:00, the fight to stop global warming. what 61% of americans say should be done. >> plus, we're learning san francisco mayor london breed already faced her first crisis and it happened during her inauguration speech. >> and em meteorologist drew

a driver who swerved to avoid hitting a deer on an east bay road ended up killing two passengers according to chp. it happened just after 10:30 saturday night in castro valley near the intersection of redwood and marcel road. when officers arrived they found a red mitsubishi on its roof, five in the car and all had to be extricated. >> according to the driver and another passenger, a deer was in pthe driver swerved to avoid th deer. left the roadway, hit an embankment, which caused the vehicle to overturn on to its roof. >> such an unfortunate crash. the chp says both passengers who died were in the back seat, both women, one 25, the other 58. the injured include a 15-year-old, the driver, and another adult and investigators say it does appear everyone was wearing a seat belt. the marin county sheriff's office getting ready to launch a drone program. according to the ma rin independent journal the program could start in 60 days. sheriffs are calling it unmanned

aerial systems instead of drone. they say that word has an inference of military surveillance and these do not serve that purpose. the sheriff's office has not bought any of the devices nor has it said how many it's going to buy. four pilots have been trained to fly them. many of you didn't notice, but san francisco mayor london breed ran into an issue during her inaugural address. >> according to the sf chronicle her adviser helped her write a 15 minute speech for last week's ceremony but she wasn't able to read it from the teleprompter as planned because there was a bad sun glare. she had a hard copy of it in front of her but instead of looking down, she decided to talk candidly and then hit the main points from what she could remember. >> show knows her story well and told it. >> speaking of pros, steph curry has a bet with his dad dell every year at the american century celebrity golf tournament in tahoe and this year dell bet he could stay within 20 points of steph. >> the deal the loser had to

280/680 split. out of the central valley, westbound 580, tracy to dublin, one hour and seven minutes. earlier crash on 205 has cleared. dublin to mission boulevard in the yellow at 22, 101 to cupertino, looks great at 16 minutes. san francisco firefighters dealt with a potential hazardous material situation at a sewage treatment plant for the second time in three days. an odor control unit overheated the at the facility yesterday. a similar incident on friday. fire crews sprayed cold water until it cold down. no one was hurt. officials say there was no hazard to surrounding areas including the san francisco zoo and lick merced. >> a warning for job seekers after one man was duped by a fake employer. >> the plea from local wildlife experts. bobcats sickened and it's being blamed on a common poison.

track temperatures from your phone. >> thanks. a woman who was kidnapped and sexually assaulted in fresno county is doing fine this morning, safe. it's thanks to in part a quick-thinking gas station employee and surveillance video caught the whole thing. it shows the victory walking into the stanislaus county gas station after convincing the suspects to let her use the rest room. look at this. she asked the first person she saw for help. the 24-year-old cashier took her to the bathroom and locked the door. stanislaus deputies arrived with guns drawn. >> her being able get this victim into a secured rest room with a phone to contact law enforcement very well may have saved her life. >> you tell me you're in distress, okay. let's figure it out and get you out of it. >> quick thinking. three suspects, one 18 years old, two 16-year-olds, are facing charges and the fresno county sheriff's office is handling the case.

>> looking for a job on-line may be the easiest way to find new employment but turning into a prime target for scammers. larry davis from cleveland was looking for a job. he thought he found the perfect one until the company allegedly asked him to buy thousands of dollars of goods and then send them out. davis said his credit card was initially reimbursed but the company's website then shut down. and now he is $47,000 in debt. >> it's devastating and it's also embarrassing because i would like to think that i'm an intelligent person. >> they may have a lot of things to look legitimate but if they want you to use your own bank account or your own credit card or send money in advance, that's a red flag. >> the better business bureau said nearly 4,000 job seekers have been scammed in the last year. wildlife officials pleading with the public to stop using rat poison after two more bobcats were sickened in the santa cruz area. wildlife emergency services

posted photos of the sick bobcats including this dying mother with her cubs. both showed signs of a condition related to a compromised immune system. officials say it's connected to bobcats that are exposed to the poison. wildlife emergency services documented 40 bobcats suffering from it in santa cruz in the last five years. they say there are plenty of nontoxic alternatives to rodent pesticides. a documentary on the north bay wildfires is set to debut in santa rosa this week. this is a poster from the documentary called "urban inferno, the night santa rosa burned." it shows the series of events that forced people out of their homes in october. the documentary premiers this thursday at santa rosa's roxie stadium 14 theater and then on friday it moves to the third street cinemas and the ticket proceeds go to the relief funds. next at 6:30, president trump expected to speak any minute now about his meeting with russian president vladimir putin. it's going on right now.

reporter amy hollyfield live at city hall this morning. hi, amy. >> hi, good morning, jessica. if you're drinking your coffee this morning with a straw, think twice about that straw. now the disabled, though, do point out that sometimes the plastic flexible straws is the safest, easiest way for them to eat or drink, so supervisors are working on an exception and try to put an exception in the legislation to address that issue. take a look at this picture. this is what motivated the movement, this picture that went viral of a sea turtle with a plastic straw stuck in his nose. now there is a push to use biodegradable straws or reusable straws or in san francisco, a push to ban plastic straws. we talked to people about how they think this will go over and then they tell us they think people will adjust. >> when they first change it you're like i don't like it but once you get used to the change i think everyone will fall into it and just be fine knowing that

it's helping the environment. >> reporter: if this passes in san francisco the ban will go into effect next year. now today at noon, environmental advocates will hold a rally to show their support for this ordinance that will happen here on the steps of city hall. reporting live in san francisco, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> thanks. a peninsula man accused of posing as a ride share driver to rape women is being held on $4 million bail. 37-year-old orlando lazo was being held on bail. police say he raped four women over the past five years and allegedly intercepted random women as they left night clubs and bars in sonoma mistaking his car for the one that they ordered. the first assault was in 2013. the recent one was last month. lazo drove for lyft. the company released a statement here on your screen about the case saying, quote, we have confirmed that this person did drive for lyft, but as soon as

we were made aware of these horrific and deeply disturbing allegations we immediately deactivated him. an alameda county firefighter expected to undergo more surgeries after a dog attack at the scene of a fire. a pitbull bit john whiting in the face saturday. he had just helped rescue two people and 18 dogs from a house fire in unincorporated san leandro. whiting was talking to one of the victims when her dog bit him. witnesses shared video of the pit bull before the incident. whiting underwent the first of several surgeries yesterday. the sheriff's office is investigating possible animal neglect and cruelty and charges involving that attack. fire crews will try again today to recover the body of a firefighter killed while battling a wildfire near yosemite national park. investigators think that braden varney's bulldozer tumbled down a steep canyon while he was cutting away vegetation on saturday. officials say varney's body is in steep terrain and conditions

so far have been too dangerous for crews to get anywhere close. the ferguson fire is burning on the park's western edge. it has scorched six square miles of forest and is only 2% contained. the chp rescued a hiker. she suffered from a heat related emergency in the north bay. the agency shared this facebook from a chp helicopter near the blue ridge trail in napa. another hiker called for help after seeing a woman in severe distress. that person helped paramedics carry the woman to the helicopter which transported her to a nearby resort for treatment. the chp reminds hikers to bring plenty of water and hydrate before leaving. >> good morning. 6:39 a.m. we're looking at temperatures on this early monday morning. mainly 50s. cool start. grab the light jacket as you step out the door. 75 in oakland. we're at 61 in san jose, 56 in san francisco, 65 the temperature in napa. let's go hour by hour plan out your day, 8:00 later on today we expect clear skies from the

scanned it to verify it. >> he goes, i can't accept this. i said okay, why can't you accept it? because it looks fraudulent. the manager called 911 after tensions escalated and chicago police got there and ultimately asked hudson to leave the store. in addition to the apology cvs has reassigned the employees involved while the company investigates. a cave diver who helped rescue 12 young soccer players says he may sue elon musk for smearing him. musk had offered a mini sub to help rescue the soccer team that was trapped a mile inside the flooded cave and one rescue diver called musk's sub a pr stunt and said it wouldn't have made the first 50 meters. musk replied on twitter he never saw the diver at the rescue site and then musk referred to him as a pedo, short for pedophile. the diver said he was astonished and very angry at the attack.
