san francisco mayor london breed's replacement on the board of supervisors is now on the job. the mayor administered the oath of office to brown today shortly after naming her to district 5. brown most recently worked at the office of the economic work force development as project manager and she formerly served as an aide for breed and greevey. she will serve until 2019. two offices open up early. they are trying to help combat the massive lines forming across the bay area and the state. matt keller with a look at what is being done to try to speed things up. >> reporter: it wouldn't be the dmv without the lines. mary got here at center road about 6:45 a.m. >> reporter: did you expect to be 40th in line by that time? >> 140th. >> reporter: the dread of having

someone could have survived until -- >> we took the long way and heard a cry for help. we ran up to her. she said she wrecked her car. we're like, the white jeep? she's, like, yeah. my gosh, you're alive, in one piece. >> reporter: hernandez was driving to portland on highway 1 when she lost control of her jeep and plummeted to the bottom of a 200 foot cliff. for seven days she was stranded. writing on her facebook, i'd climb on rocks to avoid the sharp sand and the avoiding the hot rocks. >> she used part of her radiator hose as a canteen, going back to that rock everyday for water. >> even for a fit healthy person, it's difficult. for her to survive for seven days on the coast with waves crashing over you at times with injuries she had is amazing.
