cliff near big sur. she's sharing her story of what happened in moments before and how she survived for a week. good evening. >> thanks for joining us. 23-year-old lang hernandez broke her silence overnight, talking about her incredible ordeal on facebook. >> she said she drove her jeep off a cliff near the kirk creek campground while avoiding an animal in the road and spent the next seven days stranded. >> amanda is live in monterey county. the sheriff was almost at a loss for words talking about this remarkable rescue. >> the sheriff says he gets goosebumps talking about this unbelievable story of survival, one with such a happy ending. we know angela hernandez was found on friday by a pair of hikers. after she survived the 250 foot plunge off the california coast

and know she ended up in the oh son. we're told it's water and her sheer will to survive kept her alive. 23-year-old angela hernandez is finally sharing her story about being sent over a california cliff. these pictures posted to her public facebook page show her injuries. angela was on her way to southern california when she went missing friday, july 6th. video later recovered shows her in monterey that morning. a cell phone ping put her near the carlisle highlands area. deputies says an early search didn't show obvious signs of a struggle. >> if you're driving, you're not going to see. you would have to physically get out and look down there. even then it's hard to find and see something like that. >> reporter: on facebook, angela said i was suffering from a brain hemorrhage and the crash caused no fracture four ribs and

break and fracture both collarbones and have a lung collapse. >> i think she got it in her mind i won't die out here. i think she had help from god and somebody was with her. >> reporter: the sheriff said that same higher power put angela's rescuers in the right place at the right time, an area without cell service. beyond that, the couple who found her had plans to go surfing but settled for a hike on the beach and found her mangled car and the 23-year-old missing for seven days. >> a week goes by, you don't hear anything and start losing hope and thinking the worst. >> reporter: hope has been restored and lang remain is in the hospital recovering from that 250 foot plunge. >> reporter: the sheriff says the climb to safety would have been difficult for a healthy athlete let alone a woman who just survived a major crash going up against the elements without food for seven days. a miracle.

otherwise tenuous ties to san francisco given their lack of legal residence should be making long term decisions about that structure and process. >> reporter: prospective voters can request a non-citizen voter form in person or o.j. or by phone. the deadline to register is october 22nd. non-citizen voting will be available for every board of education election until november of 2022. that's when it will expire unless the board of supervisors adopts an ordinance allowing it to continue. in the newsroom, abc7 news. >> thanks. new at 5, a mother at palo alto is embarking on a journey to nepal to win her son's freedom. he spent a dozen years doing humanitarian work in nepal and in jail since april. his mother says he was arrested for trying to break up a fight between a brother and a sister. abc7 news caught up with her

today at san francisco international airport, as she left for nepal. she says she's done all she can here to get her son released. >> i want to see him. i want to see my son. i want to know he's good for myself with my own eyes. i haven't seen him since last november. >> reporter: she said at one point her son was incarcerated with 100 other men and sleeping on the floor. he got sick and had to spend several day is in the hospital. his mother is scheduled to arrive in nepal on wednesday. >> an entire neighborhood in san mateo was locked down about six hours because a mountain lion was in the area. the big cat was spotted in a backyard at virginia avenue and jackson street. it didn't act aggressively but they tracked it and removed it. david is live. david. >> reporter: this is the second time in san mateo i've actually

confirmed a sighting and captured a mountain lion. one was a year ago and residents are glad it was captured and turnaround a more suitable habitat. residents were put on alert a mountain lion had been spotted in a driveway and then the backyard of a home on virginia avenue. san mateo police exercised patience and care trying to find the mountain lion, working with the warden from state fish and wildlife. >> we didn't get too close and we didn't scare the animal or make a lot of loud noises because we didn't want the animal to feel threatened or feel it was being attacked because they felt it would run away or become aggressive. we tried to minimize the impacts on the animal. >> reporter: the word spread fast this morning for residents to shelter in face. a man and his son, connor

happened to be there when the search teams came. >> they had guns drawn and it was amazing. >> reporter: the state warden said a tranquilizer gun had been used to sedate the animal, seen stirring after the capture. it was young, 85 pounds. they told reporters it was never anyone's intention to hurt or kill the animal but return it back to the woods. >> he will be relocated to one of the native areas around here and tracked by the puma project. >> reporter: we were told the hood was placed over the head of the puma while it was se dated to encourage it to keep its eyes closed while tranquilized. the puma project is a cooperation between the wildlif

virginia woman named kelsey was the victim of a deadly crash near castro valley. they have not released the other passenger that died. they swerved to avoid hitting a deer. the car went up on the embankment landing on its roof. two other passengers and driver did survive. a terrible crash and tragedy. >> in the north bay, a man suspected of breaking into an apartment and stealing a woman's clothes is under arrest. 65-year-old cornell holiday is a maintenance worker at the complex where this burglary happened. holiday is also accused of burglarizing a second apartment. investigators say he used his keys to get into those apartments and may have committed similar crimes. politics including california's top lawmakers are lashing out at president trump following the summit with

>> last march, the santa clara health department found six uncommented residents contracted measles. an effort is under way to have mosquitos fight mosquitos. crews are releasing male mosquitos that don't bite people but carry a bacteria that makes females fertile when they mate. it's to affect a population that can affect people with serious diseases. it started in 2015. the control said last year they saw a 68% reduction in mosquitoes in one location. >> the indication is we're on track to show even greater reduction in biting females within these neighborhoods this year. >> the effort is expected to expand into a fourth neighborhood this summer since it's working so well. if it continues to be successful, it could be a long term solution worldwide. >> your accuweather forecast

with spencer christian. >> here's the headline. a week of very warm summer-like weather. we have mostly sunny skies and this is a relatively warm day and fog pushing over the coastline and gently over the bay. nothing gentle about current wind speeds. 25 miles an hour at novato and generally wind speeds 15-25 miles an hour. this is the view looking westward from emoryville and golden gate and the coastline. 62 at francisco. 69 at mountain view and 59 half moon bay. this is the view. lots of fog showing up from the east bay hills camera. 71 in santa rosa, 90 at concord and 89 at livermore.

still very warm in the east bay area. now, covered by the fog in downtown san francisco. these are forecast features and the fog will continue pushing in from the coast and a warm pattern for the remainder of the week and hot and humidity as the humidity will be a bit elevated by bay area standards. notice parts of the coastline will still be quite free of fog before 7:00 p.m. it will fill along the coastline and push in the overnight hours giving us mainly sunny skies, once again, many coastal locations seeing the fog lingering. look for fog in the low temperatures, a pattern with us several weeks now. some locations maybe a little cooler than that with overnight lows in the mid-50s. santa clara, 88, 94 in morgan hill and 95 in gilroy.
