across the san mateo bridge are having to take a detour due to that crash. it involves a semi. occurred at 10:30 last night and that truck was hauling about 80,000 pounds of lettuce. that's really complicated things. the good news is the detour is in place. hillsdale boulevard to edgewater boulevard and reconnect with eastbound 92 and continue across the bridge. we have had reporter matt keller there for us all morning. they're making progress. that truck now uprighted. what's the latest? >> yeah, good morning, alexis. that big development since i last saw you, the big rig is now upright there, and now they have to work on getting this thing out of here. take a look at the new video. they needed three tow trucks get the job done. the big issue is how much this trailer weighs. i's 80,000 pounds and filled with lettuce. while they were doing it, my photographer and i were standing here. you could feel the ground shake whenever they moved it. in fact, the tow truck tried to get this thing uprighted, it broke the first one. so they had to bring in the

three other ones. the truck was the only vehicle involved in the crash. the driver was not injured. it will still take time to open up the ramp and remove all the equipment, the tow trucks, all the crews here. caltrans will then clean up the road and you can expect traffic rolling through once again. matt keller, abc 7 news. >> growing backlash against president trump over his recent comments following a meeting with russian president vladimir putin. >> lawmakers on both side of the aisle say they're shocked president trump openly sided with putin and questioned u.s. intelligence findings that russia meddled in the tent 16 election. >> what the president said today is not accurate. >> the president's comments made us look as a nation more like a pushover. >> the president has at least one lawmaker in his corner. senator rand paul praised president trump for talking to putin. the head of national intelligence, though, insists russia tried to sway the

election. new this morning, voters in san francisco will decide whether to tax businesses to help the homeless. a measure would add an average half percent tax on revenue above $50 million a year. it would raise about $300 million a year, and that would double what the city spends right now on homelessness. the money would be spent on more shelter beds and housing for the homeless. yesterday, the city elections department confirmed supporters have enough signatures put the measure on the ballot. >> the santa clara county sheriff's office wants to find this guy. a sketch of a man who apparently hit someone with a car during a fight over parking. it happened in san jose last week. the sheriff's office says the victim was trying to keep this man from parking on sierra road. the two of them got into a fight, and the man ended up hitting the other person with a 2007 toyota corolla. the victim told investigators the car was gray or silver. fwl we're learning more about the young woman who survived a week on the california coast after a car crash near big sur.

angela hernandez recently posted these photos of her injuries on facebook. the 23-year-old from portland was driving to southern california when her jeep plunged off a cliff, leaving her stranded on july 6th. she wrote on facebook, i could see cars driving across the cliff and felt like if i could yell just loud enough, that one could hear or see me. that's all it would take to make it back to my family. just one person noticing me. >> when you rank things as far as amazing, this probably tops it. just her will to survive. i think she just got it into her mind, i'm not going to die out here. >> the monterey county sheriff says angela survived on water from a nearby spring until a couple of hikers found her. she's now recovering from a brain hemorrhage, a collapsed lung, rib fractures, and intense sunburn. angela's sister has set up a go' fundme page to support her recovery, and you can find a link to the fund-raiser at

abc7news.com. it already raised $7,000. >> meanwhile, a mother and her son had to be air lifted out of a canyon in a remote area of solano county yesterday. the chp said the pair had been stranded since 8:00 a.m. a woman called 911 when she found an area with cell reception and found on the line while the helicopter located them. the pair were taken to the hospital for heat related issues. >> calfire close to fully containing a fire burning near the california/oregon border. the wildfire that briefly shut down interstate 5, and containment is up to 95%. the fire has burned 38,000 acres and destroyed dozens of buildings. one person died when their home caught fire. calfire is optimistic it will have the fire fully under control in the next few days. >> santa clara will ask voters to decide whether to tax recreational cannabis. the city council voted to put

now. let's time out the cloud cover for you hour by hour. future weather, 8:00, later on this morning, still rather cloudy over san francisco. patchy cloud cover around the east bay shoreline. elsewhere, we're sunny. by noon, that cloud cover all the way back to the coast. we'll see full sunshine away from the coast later on this afternoon. highs today, 69 in san francisco. about 88 in san jose. it will be warm in the south bay. 76 in oakland. napa up to 86. and inland, we'll be hot in the mid 90s. 95, that high in concord. we have traffic alerts to talk about. alexis is here with more. >> i want to take you back out live to the scene in san mateo. this is a livelic at the semi that was flipped over, and on the connector ramp from northbound 101 to eastbound 92. since 10:30 last night. i would say, oh, about 15, 20 minutes ago, they were able to get the truck upright. the big problem is there's about 80,000 pounds of lettuce in there. it was tough. i believe the count is up to four tow trucks working to clear this truck. connector still closed but they're working on hooking

6 clx 14. welcome back. this video here shows the moment a lava bomb struck a tour boat off the coast of hawaii. it's from a boat sitting in open water, but what you're about to see is what it looked like on the boat that got hit. >> terrifying moments, and nearly two dozen people viewing the kilauea lava flow were hurt when flying chunks of molten rock launched into the sky. one chunch knocked a hole right through the boat's roof. passengers onboard another boat watched it all happen. >> exploded straight out at the boat. we could hear the rocks hit the boat and the people yelling. >> we saw a bunch of steam and rocks and stuff flying. and a lot of it landed inside the boat. and some large pieces landed on top of the boat. >> 13 passengers were taken to the hospital. others had minor injuries.

hawaii's kilauea volcano started erupting in may. >> the difference this time, in documentary form. a new film debuts on thursday night and it's called urban inferno, the night santa rosa burned. fire victim dr. steven seager made the film. it recounts the events of the deadly october firestorm. he used a lot of cell phone video and air checks from ksro radio. the film focuses on the first eight hours of the fire seen can told by those who lived it. >> you tell people about it, but they don't get it until you show them what it was really like. it's the worst thing most people here will ever go through. >> urban inferno is set to premiere this thursday in downtown santa rosa. producers expect a strong response. there will be crisis case workers outside the theater. and profits from the movie will go right back into the community to help fire victims.

good morning, time now, 6:24. i want to give you an update on sfo. we now have delays for arriving flights, averaging about 45 minutes. the next three days, it will be a comfortable afternoon today, but warmer weather will move in here on wednesday and by thursday, we're tracking an increase in humidity. jessica. >> drew, thank you. look at your screen here. something you don't want to miss. an intense shootout between las vegas police and two murder suspects. ends with one suspect dead, the other in custody. yesterday, police released this stunning body cam footage of the chase. the chase itself happened wednesday. they saw the suspects fire at officers 34 times. and it actually forced -- look

at this -- one officer to return fire and shoot through his own windshield. >> when you look at this video, it payments a clear picture of what those officers were dealing with that day. the officer could have backed off, but he didn't. he stuck with that individual, knowing what type of individual he was dealing with. >> the suspects at one point crashed their car and tried to reverse toward officers. police shot and killed the driver. the other suspect ran to a nearby elementary school where he was eventually caught and arrested. >> california lawmakers want answers about the wait times you experience at the dmv. the state approved a combined $69 million so the dmv can hire more employees this year and last year, but despite all that staff, the lines are still long. assemblyman jim patterson plans to request a former audit into how the agency is spending the money. that will happen when he appears before the joint legislative audit committee next month. >> new at 6:00, the east bay

they have the truck upright, but for the meantime, a detour is in place. you can take hillsdale to edgewater to get back to 92 wrrbs and matt keller has been there for us all morning. what's the latest on getting this truck cleared, matt? >> i actually have good news. just talked with chp. you can see behind me, the trailer is gone. it's just been towed off the connector ramp. that's great. that's out of the way. now they need to start cleaning up this area, get all the equipment out of here, the tow trucks out of here. the chp officer told me that they think maybe within 30 minutes to an hour that they're going to have this ramp back open, which is great news considering that just probably about ten minutes ago, they were saying 8:00 a.m. so we're looking at maybe 7:00 or 7:30 this morning. here's video from about 40 minutes ago when the trailer was uprighted by three tow trucks. not a lot of space, so they were extra careful bringing it down. the big issue is how much it weighs. 80,000 pounds and filled with

>> thank you. happening today, the man accused of posing as a ride share driver and then sexually assaulting his passengers expected in court. >> the case is now raising questions about immigration policies in san francisco. abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield live at sfpd headquarters. >> good morning, reggie. i.c.e. says he's here illegally and this is an examine of how san francisco's sanctuary city policy shields criminals. police arrested 36-year-old orlando lazo and say he was posing as a ride share driver and would drive his victims to another location and rape them. they say he raped four women over five years. and that they have dna evidence to prove it. >> these assaults were violent rapes committed by a serial rapist. a sexual deviant predator who was not going to stop until he was caught. >> lyft released a statement saying we have confirmed that

this person did drive for lyft. but as soon as we were made aware of these horrific and deeply disturbing allegations, we immediately deactivated him. uber says he never worked for them. lazo is due in court today. reporting live in san francisco, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> amy, thank you. >> we have an update on the east bay fire official who was bit in the face, got attacked by a pit bull. the owner of the dog could now be facing a citation. john whiting was responding to a house fire in unincorporated san leandro saturday when the dog attacked him. there were 20 dogs inside the house at the time. while there were no signs of neglect toward the animals, that does violate a county ordinance that allows residents to only have two dogs. the pit bull is still under quarantine. there's also questions about what to do with the other dogs. >> any time you have a lot of dogs and you're not complying within the law, you open

actual truck that flipped is gone. the trailer and cab now towed away. caltrans crews just cleaning up the roadway now. it could be from 30 minutes to an hour. and they should have the northbound 101 ramp to eastbound 92 back open. so a lot of progress being made. i will certainly let you know as soon as that is back open. in the meantime, you can use surface streets to get around that. a couple issues on westbound 24. if you're traveling in the caldecott tunnel, we have the far right lane blocked. i believe it's a medical issue. just behind that westbound 24, in bore number three, we have a two-car crash, and then a quick check of the bay bridge toll plaza. we did have a minor issue just beyond the metering lights and that's cleared. this is what not to do when a drawbridge is going up. yeah, that woman ignored the crossing arms and rode her bicycle right into a gap in a bridge in wisconsin as it was being raised. she is okay.

there. yesterday, the land use and transportation committee voted in favor of the ban. it's now going to go to the full board for a vote next week. and in the east bay, for the first time, the city of pittsburg has approved a commercial cannabis permit. that means workers at this warehouse will begin manufacturing a wide array of cannabis-based products this fall. that includes topical creams, ointments and lotions. canyon laboratories won its commercial cannabis permit with the majority vote from the pittsburg city koirnl council. the city negotiated a sliding tax scale. if canyon grosses $10 million, for example, the city will get half a million bucks. now to your morning money report. amazon prime day is still going, but it got off to a rocky start. >> the site temporarily crashed yesterday just as the sale began, and some shoppers were met with these images of dogs and an error message. but even with technical difficulties, amazon already is breaking some records.

community for more than three decades will close for good next month. this is the message on videodroid's website right now. it says the owner has decided to close following the north bay wildfires and because of personal health issues. according to the press democrat, videodroid had more than 30,000 titles at its store. most are now for sale for about $4 to $6. the store closes for good on august 26th. >> believe it or not, an east bay dog that was missing for nearly three years is back home with its owner this morning. >> such a bizarre story. antioch animal services posted this video of the weekend reunion, and you can see, the owner is overjoyed when she sees her french bull dog. the french bull dog suzant seem to really respond. but who can blame her? her name is henny. she went missing in november of 2015. what happened between now and then isn't really clear. we're told henny jumped into an
