defending his summit with vladimir putin in a new tweet this morning, the president says, quote, many people at the higher ends of intelligence loved my press conference performance in helsinki. we've heard the opposite. there is still confusion this morning about whether or not the president truly believes u.s. intelligence about russian meddling. >> reporter: this morning new details about president trump's russia reversal. >> i have a full faith in our intelligence agencies. oops, they just turned off the lights. that must be the intelligence agencies. there it goes. >> reporter: after that moment sources shedding light on what led the president to backtrack on his answer in helsinki about russian election meddling. >> i have president putin, he said it's not russia. i will say this, i don't see any reason why it would be. >> reporter: reading from prepared remarks, trump said he misspoke. >> i said the word would instead of wouldn't. the sentence should have been, i don't see any reason why it

moten, abc news. >> thank you. happening today, the bart passenger seen smoking what appears to be meth on board trains is expected in court. video that air on abc 7 news helped lead to his arrest. tracy daniels was arrested after a viewer recognized him and called police. officers took him in because there was an outstanding warrant for his arrest, not because of the alleged drug use. on monday daniels' hearing was rescheduled because of medical reasons so he will be in court today. the fbi and oakland police have issued a $30,000 reward for information that leads to the solving of a murder case. 27-year-old patrick scott was shot to death february 3rd at a bus stop at 62nd and market streets on the berke/oakland border. taking a bus to his grandmother's house when he got shot. scott's mother said she heard nine shots and found her son bleeding as he tried to make it home. before her son died he told her who shot him. that's information she says she

cannot disclose right now. >> do the right thing. turn yourself in. i'm going to do all i can to save the next child and child after that. i'm not going to stop. >> police say this was not a random shooting. they have not released a possible motive. new this morning, a free church parking program in mission district is here to stay. it allows cars to be parked in the medians on sundays. according to the examiner, the board just voted to make the pilot program permanent. neighbors complained the program was a violation of church and state but church leaders say rising rent pushed many members out of the city and they needed a place to park to attend services. cars can only park on the median on sundays until 6:00 in the evenings. an east bay man that proposed a bill to benefit pg&e has a son that works for pg&e. the chronicle reports pg&e and democrat bill cork's office

confirm his son ian works for the company. assemblyman cork's bill would allow pg&e to issue state authorized bonds to pay settlements from last october's wildfires. state investigators blamed pg&e for starting 16 of the fires. pg&e's customers would repay the bonds over time. both the utility and cork's office say the personal connection has nothing to do with the bill. firefighters on the front lines of a fire burning just outside of yosemite are trying to make crucial progress before high winds today. the ferguson fire west of the park has burned more than 13,000 acres since it started friday night. it's only 5% contained. no structures have been damaged, but flames are burning very close to four evacuated communities. yosemite is open but highway 140 into the park is closed. officials warn visitors not over exert themselves because of all the smoke and the fire is producing in that area. and time now 4:37. that smoke from the fire going

palm springs a very hot 102 degrees. from here on how, temperatures just start to cool off later this week. good news there. the roadways, how are we looking? >> we're doing okay. a lot of that fog that you mentioned. so golden gate bridge still under the dense fog advisory. we're seeing it in a few other areas too. not many crashes to go along with that. one in the south bay, southbound 280, ram top south bay 101 in the san jose area. solo vehicle crash, almost two hours ago. this is in the clearing stages. sounds like they have been able to push that to the off ramp and air bag did deploy there in the vehicle and possibly some injuries to that driver. that is in the clearing stages now. i'm not seeing delays approaching that scene. a check outside a live look at smaits bridge, westbound 92 light as you leave hayward towards foster city. the other side the big issues yesterday that is gone at this point. all ramps and main lanes are open. we'll look at mass transit coming up next. >> thanks. the palo alto police department can't find enough

minutes away from your accuweather forecast. >> this is "abc 7 mornings." >> good morning. 4:42 a.m. we have issues with fog. it is dense in spots early on this morning. you can see visibility on live doppler 7 napa and half moon bay one mile visibility. drive slow, use the low beams. elsewhere we're doing okay, a slower than normal commute. extremes today, wide range. inland near 100 degrees but along the coast, we're cool in the 60s. the accuweather seven-day forecast in a few minutes. the founder of papa john's pizza says it was a mistake to step down after accused of using a racial slur. john snadser says the board of directors asked him to resign without any investigation and he should not have complied. snadser accused the board of not knowing how to hand al crisis based on misinformation and blaming a marketing agency for pressuring him to use the "n" word during a conference call back in may. if you're looking for uncle jesse in san francisco he's not home and you can't ride a tour

bus in front of the "full house" house anymore. tour busses will be banned between pine and bush under new yaordinance. the "full house" reboot spiked more interesting in the home which is featured in the opening credits. in addition to the traffic headaches there's been a spike in car break-ins, taking advantage of unsuspectng tourists. the ban applies to vehicles that seat more than nine people. a job in palo alto offering a starting salary of $98,000 a year with no college degree required, but the palo alto police department can't find enough people to apply. abc 7 news reporter david louie shows us the new approach to draw in recruits. >> reporter: you would never know it but this police lieutenant used to be an attorney who took a pay cut as a recruit. others on the palo alto force were welders, school teachers and nurses. they're being showcased in a

recruitment video hoping to lure a new applicant to become officers. 13 openings but with every other department in the county trying to fill jobs palo alto decided to showcase ten officers who took the plunge and changed careers. >> maybe it's not too late for mehaeo something that means something and really it's not too late to change and into a career in public service. >> reporter: mario es straed da is a one-time welder. >> we're not coming from the same cookie cutter mold. it's important to bring different aspektsz of careers and lifestyles. >> reporter: another phenomenon that could become a good recruiting tool. ♪ >> reporter: officer lip sync videos have proliferated in sonoma as agencies compete against each other. like the palo alto approach, potential recruits see officers in a different light. >> it really does humanize police officers and shows that hey, we're just like you. we sit in a car, we sing to the

one mile visibility in napa and half moon bay. that's your weather alert early on this morning. temperature wise, where we had the low cloud cover, in the 50s, more in the way of clearer skies like brentwood and livermore, holding in the 60s. '60s in mountainview, at 54 with the fog in half moon bay. hour by hour we go, future weather we'll time out your morning, the fog early on. i think by about 10:00, 11:00 in the morning the fog will be confined to the coastline. a lot of sunshine later on this afternoon. highs here we go, 87 in san jose, about 83 for cupertino, along the peninsula, cooler in pacific at 64, san francisco 71, into the north bay, a wide range, 88 in san rafael, 68 vallejo, 82 in fremont, and inland hot in the 90s. 96 pittsburgh, 97 livermore, 99 in brentwood. accuweather seven-day forecast we will show you today cool on the coast but hot inland. more in the way of cloud cover thursday. it turns humid on fry, remains that way on saturday before we cool off on sunday. all right.
