live in santa rosa, abc7 news. controversial plan to split california in three states suffered a big setback today. state supreme court took initiative off the november ballot. carlos is live with what's next. >> reporter: as you know, california is most populous state, fifth largest world economy, and will stay that way despite efforts to break it up. chance at golden state triple threat suffered a setback today. state supreme court blocked prop 9 from appearing on the ballot, preventing voters from having a say. >> probably a huge red flag. >> reporter: bay area would have been part of northern california. silicon valley venture capitalist tim draper gathered the signatures.
