undocumented immigrant from peru. we know it was dna that linked him to four separate rape cases. he pleaded not guilty to charges surrounding four accusations of brazen rape. he was accused of posing as a ride share driver, pick up women from bars and nightclubs around san francisco, getting them alone and raping them. >> rape is one of the most horrific crimes imaginable that we have in our criminal justice system, and in this case we have four victims. >> reporter: attacks that spanned five years, each case growing more aggressive than the next. lazo's wife in the courtroom. she avoided cameras telling the media to ask her husband's lawyer. >> he's pled not guilty, he's maintained his innocence, and the constitution intitles him to presumption of innocence and to his day in court. >> reporter: according to can i

see he's here illegally from peru. we reached out to the ride share company, lyft, who says it's beefing up its security checks after it said lazo fraglntly represented himself. he's being held without bail. we know his next court appearance is august 1st. >> amanda, thank you. new this morning contra costa sheriff's detectives are investigating a shooting that left a 22-year-old man dead. it happened around 10:45 last night near creek side court. investigators say the victim was found lying in a driveway. he was pronounced dead at the scene. detectives are interviewing several people but no arrests have been made yet and the victim has not been identified. berkeley police need your help in identifying the man who attacked a senior citizen and it happened across the street from a police station. you can see a group of men

knocking the 72-year-old to the ground and kicking him. this happened about two weeks ago. police say there was no apparent motive. >> no money was taken, no demands made. the lighting isn't ideal, so we're hoping that somebody will maybe recognize a piece of clothing or perhaps the way the suspects walked. >> police say there may have been up to eight attackers. now, take a closer look at the top right of your screen. the suspects took off in that newer model silver or white minivan. palo alto police need your help identifying this man who peeked into a window. this is freeze frame police took from the surveillance video. investigators say the video shows him entering the backyard through a closed gate and then looking through the window for several minutes before leaving.

k-9 units arrived and tried to track him but they were unable to identilocate him. the robbery happened back in may, but officers are just now releasing this photo to the fubl. police say he has a tattoo on his face. developing news, nearly two dozen soldiers are recovering after an accident. wind from an a helicopter caused a tent to collapse at hunter ligett. most of the 22 injuryerize minor but four soldiers were taken to the hospital. it occurred during a traininging exercise. the san francisco police chief wants to make it clear his department did not end the protest because of the feds.

investigation after an explosion at an army depot. this is happening in chambersberg, pennsylvania. officials there say at least three people are injured, three of them had to be flown to the hospital. a colonel said the explosion had happened in a painting area of a vehicle shop. officials say there's no suspicion of terrorist activity. the white house in cleanup mode for the second time this week. president trump is once again clarifying his stance on vladimir putin and russian election meddling. and he's appearing to contradict his own intelligence agencies. the latest reversal in washington. >> reporter: president trump defending his controversial summit with russian president vladimir putin. tweeting the summit with russia was a great success except with the real enemy of the people, the fake news media. i look forward to our second meeting. this facing criticism he was too weak in the press conference with putin but insisting he was

screen. that is the fog, the cloud cover. and you can see in the past couple of hours it is shrinking going right back to the coast. earlier today we had visibility issues especially along the north bay and along the coast. that is changing. visibility is improving. sunnier skies are prevailing. one caveat with the golden gate bridge right now. we do expect the golden gate bridge to be rathery foggy for most of the day. we are warming up pretty quickly in the south bay this hour. san jose right now 77 degrees. 73 saratoga, mountain view already at 67 degrees. so the wider picture where you have that had sunshine for much of the morning you're already warm and brentwood already at 82 degrees. 79 currently in danville. look at clear lake right now, already in the 90s. san francisco a bit more fog right now.

we're still cool sitting at about 62 degrees. live doppler 7 along with satellite what we are seeing, there's a weak ripple of energy that's moving off the coastline of southern california. it sparked an isolated thundershower off the coast of los angeles yesterday. that's now pushing out. but what it is doing if you notice there are a few high clouds that are streaming in from the south. zoom in a bit closer to our neck of the woods and you can see through monterey right now some high thin sirius clouds are moving off the coast. we do remain dry for our thursday. look towards our east is there is a chance of a thundershower popping up. in the green that is your chance east of fresno along the spine of the sierra. once again we see dry skies today. san jose later on today and 84 for santa clara and bit more in

the way of cloud cover, so pacifica only 61 degrees. downtown san francisco near 70. into the north bay a wide 101 enlake port. in the east bay today 75 later on in oakland, castro valley going to 78 degrees. and inland it is hot again. still 96 in brentwood, 91 in san ramon. livermore up to a hot 97 degrees. today it's all about that warm day after that morning fog. tomorrow you're going to notice it feels a little bit humid. there is a slight chance of a shower popping up. nothing widespread. but the bigger picture over the weekend, we're dry and cooling off with temperatures near average over the weekend. i think that fog is going to be pretty much limited to the coastline for saturday and
