main street suffered some sort of damage. about 17,000 people live in marshall town. so far no reports of anyone losing their life. closer to home, in southern california, crews are racing against expected hot, dry weather today to stop a wildfire threatening homes. the skyline fire has burned 250 acres of land near corona in riverside county. homes in a ten block area near the flames are evacuated. 240 firefighters are battling to protect those homes. it is 4:30. if you're just waking up to us, good morning. a quick update on your weather and traffic. we start with drew tuma. >> good morning, guys. the big story this morning, we're not nearly as foggy right now as we were this time yesterday. we'll zoom in on live doppler 7 the ribbon of fog stretching from san francisco to the east bay by el vallejo. early and sun, y t's going to there. we will have high clouds

streaming in, upper 70s to low 80s. inland not as warm as yesterday. upper 80s to low 90s. let's get a check roads with alexis. good morning. >> good morning. we are fairly quiet. we don't have any major issues to talk about. nice light volumes across the san mateo bridge. you will have some company but no one out there slowing you down today and no major incidents. tracy to dublin, a friday drive light time in the yellow but 33 minutes out of tracy. antioch to concord, 13 minutes and southbound san rafael to san francisco in the green at 15 minutes. san jose police are making a sweep of businesses that look legit but are accused of being fronts for illegal gambling. >> investigators say the gambling parlors triggered violent crimes in the city and abc 7 news reporter matt keller is live in san jose. matt? >> jessica, sometimes those violent crimes are not reported and police say that can create a

dangerous situation here in san jose. seven different businesses were raided and an eighth had a penal code inspection. investigators say what appeared to be a computer repair shop thrived as a profitable, illicit casino. prosecutors and police say the gaming created problems for the neighborhood and triggered violent crimes. >> as you can imagine there's armed robberies, there's assaults and then you have other public nuisance violations occurring. one of these locations had been robbed twice and they didn't report it to us because they're running an illegal business. >> reporter: police seized $75,000 in cash during raids in march and confiscated another $300,000 last week. 64 illegal gambling devices were taken as well, five people were arrested and police say more arrests and charges could be coming in the future. san jose police are asking for help for shutting down these businesses in the city. if you have any information give them a call. reporting live in san jose, matt

keller, abc 7 news. >> thank you. san francisco police hope a new photo will lead them to the driver who they say hit and killed a pedicab operator. a clear look at the car which police think is a gold or champagned colored honda civic. severe of the hit-and-run crash shows the vehicle swerving through traffic on the embarcadero before it hit the pedicab on june 27th. pedicab operator kevin manning died from his injuries this month. two people are in custody for the shooting death of a man in el s sa bronty. deputies found the victim lying in a driveway on san pablo dam road near creekside court. a 22-year-old man from richmond and 57-year-old woman. they are held on $2 million. they are held on $2 million. no word

>> reporter: police chief, mayor and others discussed racial profiling during a town hall meeting at lany college as the fate of an ongoing stanford study remains up in the air. >> what makes us become a target if why are we the hunted? >> r 2016 dr. ebberhard's study showed oakland police were four times more likely to search african-american men compared to white men during a traffic stop. >> they have taught us how to think about the data. it's one thing to collect data. it's another thing to know how to ask the questions of the data. >> reporter: stanford recommended 50 policy changes. opd implemented the majority including handcuffing and chase policies. >> over the last five years, we believe that some of these

policy changes are why we have reduced police use of force by 72%. >> reporter: use of force has dropped, police stopped data by race, still shows large disparities. african-american far more likely to be stopped than any other group. harden says it's going to take more than policy changes to fix racing and policing and in our country. >> how do we speak to one another? how can i speak to you in a manner you feel comfortable and vice versa? dialog needs to happen all of the time. >> reporter: the full city council will take up the issue of renewing the stanford contract at next week's meeting. the mayor and chief would like to see it renewed another year. in oakland, katie utis, abc 7 news. a proposed tax increase for ride share companies like uber and lyft one step closer to appearing on the november ballot in san francisco. the examiner reports the board of supervisor and budget committee voted to advance the measure to the full board for a vote on july 31st.

a new estimate on how much revenue it would generate is expected next week. the city controller's original analysis estimated it would bring in $20 million annually but the proposal has been amended to increase rates and include out-of-town companies as well. that do business in the city. russian president vladimir putin could be the first russian leader to visit the white house in nearly a decade. overnight russia's ambassador to the u.s. said putin is, quote, open to president trump's invitation. this comes just days after their first meeting in helsinki and as the white house issues another russian walk back. this week president trump called putin's offer for shared u.s./russian investigations incredible and now mr. trump disagrees. the white house meeting could happen some time in the fall. it is up to the kremlin to formally respond to president trump's invitation. the trump administration says it is reunited 365 children, 5 and older, with

refunds than putting down deposits and there could be a few reasons here. the wait time for the car and the change in the tax credit. a tesla spoke person denies the cancellations exceed the new orders. nor kamala harris wants to ease the burden of paying rent for low-income americans and harris is sponsoring a bill to give federal tax credits to families who spend more than 30% of their income on rent and utilities. about 3 million california families would benefit. one south bay charity believes this bill could prevent families from being forced to leave their homes when local rents sky rocket. >> a lot of them are kind of having to uplift their families from communities they've contributed so much to and care about so much. >> a similar bill is making its way through the state legislature. all kinds of things wash ashore on the beach and a bay area man made a very special find in rich mopped. wedding room.

off to the 70s, the coast staying steady in the low 60s. >> thanks. the chp is trying to find the owner of a car found at the bottom of a cliff along the san mateo coastline. >> take a look here at this photo we have. it shows mangtsled sedan lying upside down near highway 1 near pescadero state beach. officers found it yesterday morning. no up with was inside or nearby and no one with injuries consistent with a car crash has turned up at local hospitals. >> strange. oakland's barbecue becky incident has prompted a new addition to lake merritt. a hot ash only disposal container. it's been installed at the very spot where a white woman was recorded on cell phone video callin men using a charcoal grill. now at the time, charcoal grills were not allowed along that section of lake merritt. so the ash bin seems to indicate that it's okay now. a welcomed change coming for san francisco muni riders. muni making the transfer time

the federal trade commission has llrouted help donors spot deceptive fund-raising practices. they talked about one of the so-called charities that duped people. >> used five different aliases to confuse donors. they raised $20 million from 2014 to 2017. yet little of that money ever helped veterans. >> if you're not sure a charity is legitimate check the department of justice' website to see if the charity has been categorized as delinquent or suspended. facebook teaming up with amc to let you buy movie tickets on its platform. facebook launched a new feature to search for movies and now you can buy tickets through amc's facebook page. the theater chain is waiving on-line fees for the service. facebook already has similar deals with the fandango and adam ticket services. starbucks making it easier for hearing impaired coffee
