good morning, everyone, i'm carolyn tyler. thank you for joining us on this sunday, july 22. let's start with a quick look at the weather, with frances dinglawson. the satellite image, those gray skies have spilled over into parts of the east bay. here's your 12-hour day planner which you can always look at by downloading the accuweather app. the clouds will stick around the coast and the bay, sunnier skies by lunchtime and this afternoon the breeze will keep things cool at the coast, so low 60s there around the bay, really pleasant in the low 80s. and inland areas will warm up again to the low 90s.

sun sets at 8:27, it's going to be a nice, mild evening tonight, and i have some changes and i'll tell you about them in the accuweather 7-day forecast. developing news this morning, five people trapped by high tide near mira beach while fishing are now safe. marine county fire guided the four men and one woman back to their cars early they guided them along the rocks and back to the parking lot. the group got stranded last night between pirate's cove. police say that an armed man held 50 people hostage yet at a trader joe's mor now from

reporter amy powell from our sister station in l.a. >> reporter: frightened shoppers run away from a trader joe's in silver lake. terrifying moments when an armed man running in police crashes his car outside and then runs inside. >> he ran right behind me, and there were all these gunshots. >> reporter: people watched the suspect engage in a gun battle with police. >> about three or four shots were fired and then at that point they were telling everyone to get down in their cars and just try to duck for safety. and me and a couple of other people i know were in our cars for a good, like, 30 >> reporter: dozens of s.w.a.t. seam members and other lapd officers surround the store joined by fire department rescuers. inside, employees helping customers escape. >> you could hear the pop, pop,

pop, pop. >> reporter: so you all immediately -- >> it was kind of like a mad dash, people that were in the front of the store started coming towards the back of the store to find the exit. and we assisted them and all the crewmembers. >> reporter: an estimated 40 to 50 people were held hostage inside the trader joe's. police say that one woman died after being hit by gun fire. finally about three hours after the tense standoff began, the suspect placed handcuffs on himself, walked out and was taken into custody. poli police escorted hostages, including children out of the store. >> and that store employee who was killed has been identified by family members as melita corado. at last check, the suspect's grandmother is in critical condition. people will gather for a memorial in san francisco today.

it's the mario woods remembrance day. back in 2013, his death was recorded by cell phones and sparked national outrage. organizers expect about 300 or so people to attend. it starts about 11:00 a.m. at martin luther king jr. park on third street. the contra costa county sheriff's office tell us a driver sped away during a traffic stop around 9:00 yesterday morning, the officer chased after the car, he lost sight of it before seeing is it overturned on the freeway. one person died, another is in the hospital. two drivers are under arrest following a crash in san francisco. it involved a tour bus and a mustang. abc 7 news was at the civic

center after police took both drivers into custody. officers say the bus driver assaulted the man driving the ford mustang. they arrested the mustang's drive claiming he drove recklessly. several witnesses describe how the road rage simmers for several blocks. >> the bus tried to go to the right, and the car, the mustang kept blocking him, so the point where he blocked him totally. it just continued for like 10 minutes. >> paramedics treated a tourist from canada for minor injuries. the bus passengers had to wait for more than two hours for another bus to come pick them up. firefighters rushed to the grounds in sacramento after it caught fire yesterday. >> you can see a lot of sparks and smoke, the sacramento fire

department is describing this electrical fire as small. the mono rail operator was the only person on board and crews were able to rescue that person from the stalled train. today is the final day of the bay bridge series between the giants and the a's. last night was a milestone for oakland. the team celebrated the largest attendance in coliseum history. so what does this mean for the possibilities of a new a's stadium? abc7 news reporter katie utis takes us out to the ball game. >> reporter: fans honor baseball history. >> i was at the candlestick when the earthquake happened. >> reporter: and made some at saturday night's bay bridge series game between the oakland athletics and the san francisco giants. this sellout crowd is the largest attendance in a's coliseum history. >> 10,000 people up there, almost 55,000, 56,000 people in

district. victor stevenson spoke with abc7 news reporter amanda dell castillo about what happened. >> reporter: victor stevenson has only been selling lemonade at his shop only for a week. >> i didn't realize they were here for me until they were about a foot away from me. >> reporter: stevens says the policemen asked for proof of business ownership. while he understands that it may have been routine, he feels the encounter was rooted in racism. >> the bigger problem here is the individuals that think it's okay to pick up the phone and call 911 irresponsi irrle atck men have been shot and killed for a lot more than lemonade and he's a man with much more to live

the local company says it's a fire extinguisher service company, the workers sometimes driving marked cars and going to businesses telling them they need to have their fire extinguishers serviced and demanding cash payment. the fire department says it does not demand or conduct any services like this. the project called the brisbane bay development would add 2,200 units and 7 million feet of commercial space. the city council opted to put the proposal on the ballot in nevad november. if it passes, the city council will make the next step in preparing the proposal. del valle is both a regional and state park.

the phrase see mighty in english. . some mighty fine weather this afternoon, but right now we're showing you live doppler 7 in the satellite image because we have the marine layer pushing in from the coast, even some drizzle possible. you might even use your wipers, especially if you're close to the beaches. but that will clear out this around and you'll get some sunshine. temperatures in the 50s and 60s, san francisco is currently 59, oakland 61 degrees, san jose milder, 64 degrees. half moon bay at 67 right now. this is a pretty shot, as we look from walnut creek, as you see high clouds there, the sun rising in the background, so in the inland area, it's already pretty clear, and that's where things will warm up into the lower 90s.

some low 60s through novato, fairfield, concord and also livermore. here's the irk forecast animatif how the fog will put out this afternoon and then come back this evening, fog along 101 in santa rosa, and past the golden gate bridge into oakland. and you notice this afternoon all the clouds pull back to the coast, maybely sun mainly sunny everybody and it starts to creep back in this evening. we'll wake up to gray skies. if you're headed to the bay bridge series. temperatures comfortable in the low 70s, sunny and mild, so have the sunscreen and the sunglasses. highs today will be very close to yesterday's numbers so they range from 60s at the coast to low 90s inland. we have a sea breeze in and that will keep us cool. look for 80s in san rafael, san

jose and napa. and low 90s farther inland, fairfield, 90, antioch 91 and in san jose, it will be right where it should be, 84 degrees. also in santa cruz, 71 degrees today. if you're hea ttod ug rhe 7s. you'll need a jacket if you're staying throughout the games. at 10:00 this morning, we'll still have low clouds, temperatures will be in the low 60s, we'll see sunny skies this afternoon, but gusties could hit 20 miles an hour from the west, that's why it will feel a little bit cooler than that, you'll want to have a light jacket and temperatures will drop down to near 60 tonight. overnight lows to range from the 450s 50s to 60. so it will be mild again. like concord 65, san jose 62 degrees. here's your accuweather 7-day forecast, we have got 90s inland, 80s near the bay. and at the coast, low 60s.

>> we're starting off with low clouds. you can see the satellite image shows the fog spilled in overnight across the east bay. we start with our 12-hour day marcus randa planner. 60s by 7:00 a.m., warmer by noon. and then around the bay near 80 degrees, but that sea breeze keeps things cool at the coast, low to mid 60s there, a pleasant evening tonight with sunset at 8:27, and temperatures will still be mild around the bay and inland numbers dropping into the 80s. we have a few changes and a slight warmup in the accuweather 7-day forecast. and that's coming up in my next report. developing news, five fishermen were trapped by high tide near mira beach yesterday.

marine county fire guided the group back to their cars this morning using flashlights through the rocks and along the beach to get them back to the parking lot. they became stranded between mira beach and pirate's cove. a woman who lost nine family members in that duck boat accident in missouri remains in the hospital this morning. tia coleman lost three children and her husband in the tragedy. she says going home is going to be difficult. >> i don't know how i'm going to do it. since i have had a home, it's always been filled with -- it's always been filled with little feet and laughter. and my husband. i don't know how i'm going to do it. >> the ntsb says divers have

retrieved the recorder of the trip data. they have sent it to washington, d.c. to be analyzed. >> when we take it out of the water, we put it back in make water, and it stays there until it gets to the washington, d.c. labs where we are have some sophisticated means to dry them out. >> ride the ducks has te voluntarily shut down operations for now. a woman was broad sided by a box truck in the silver creek neighborhood yesterday afternoon. the police say that the box truck ran a stop sign and the woman died at the scene. she's the 29th person to die in a crash this year. the search continues for a missing college student who had ties here in the bay area. search parties are scouring county roads, lakes and ponds in the midwest.

20-year-old mollyollyollyollyoly last seen friday night. her friends reported the university of iowa student missing the next day. more than 100 volunteers met yesterday canvassing an area where she was last seen. family members tell abc7 news even community members are joining their search. >> the voluntary search was put together yesterday and we delivered food and water to nourish these volunteers and it was just phenomenal. >> searchers looked through acres of farm land on foot while a helicopter assisted overhead. tibets spent much of her childhood in paiedmont. a wildfire is burning near kelseyville, it's called the garden fire, and it's 60 acres

and 20% contained. cal fire says they have stopped forward progress. they remained onscene overnight. the evacuations have expanded over yosemite because of the now 9,000 acre ferguson fire. the fire is just 6% contained. officials say two firefighters were hurt friday with back injuries. a cal fire dozer operator was killed last saturday while building a fire break. if you missed it the first time, the truck chicken is going to set sail on san francisco bay today. this is video from the last voyage in february. it's part of a protest and organizers say they plan to circle alcatraz which they are jokingly referring to as the big coupe. they say people are welcome to come out and cheer them on, they

also need donations to help cover the cost of renting the boats. the chicken will leave from chrissyfield at noon. lawypresident trump's lawye are waiving the attorney-client privilege that the president had with michael cohen. the president is now lashing out publicly at cohen for the first time. here's abc news reporter brian clark. >> reporter: the president taking to twitter saturday morning lashing outed a his former lawyer michael cohen. inconceivable that the government would break into a lawyer's office early in the morning, almost unheard of, even more inconceivable that a lawyer would tape a client, totally unheard of. although cohen -- this is the first time the president come out publicly against mr. cohhe coh cohen. sources close to nbc news say

that this tape came out with a consideration -- the president has denied any extramarital relationship as well as any knowledge of hush money paid to mcdoogle. but the approximately two-minute long in person conversation, the tape made secretly by cohen undercuts those denials. the tape among those items seized from cohen's hotel, office and home. cohen outlined a scheme that "the national enquirer" -- the tabloid published by american media which is owned by a friend of trump's which paid $150,000 for the story but never published it. rudy giuliani said the reimbursement never happened. a source with knowledge of tapis

levi stadium will play host to an international soccer match today between the san jose earthquakes and manchester united. the quakes say having the opportunity to face the renowned club is really an exciting challenge. this match marks the second meeting between these two teams since 2015. kickoff is set for 2:00 this afternoon. also in sports, the bay bridge series heats up this afternoon, the giants battle the a's at oakland coliseum, first pitch at 1:05. last night the fans were treated to a thrilling game. anthony flores has the highlights in this morning's sports. >> good morning, everyone, history at the ballpark. more than 56,000, the biggest crowd ever at the coliseum to check out game two of the bay bridge series.

england will face south africa. that's a look at your morning sports. have a great sunday. all right, good morning. we have got the gray skies, low clouds once again, with the marine layer spilling in across the bay into parts of the east bay. now these low clouds are causing flight arrival delays at sfo right now 15-minute delay. here's a live shot from emeryville as we look across the bay, pretty calm right now, lots of low, gray skies out there, temperatures in the 50s and 60s, and san francisco, it's currently 59, oakland 61. san jose, 64 degrees, a little bit cooler, though, gilroy, 56 degrees. and this time we are looking from the east bay hills, we're looking out towards the east, mt. diablo there, we have got these low whipped cream clouds can floating by, but that will

clear back to the coast and dissipate this afternoon. in santa rosa and napa, it's currently 59 degrees, concord at 63, livermore at 61. here's how the fog plays out throughout the day. during the 9:00 hour, we'll still see the fog in parts of the knnorth bay and across the east bay and along the peninsula coast and into the south bay and some interyour areas, then there afternoon we'll see the clouds creep back in later on tonight and then overnight again we'll make wake up to the low clouds and fog once again. so highs today will be very similar to yesterday's numbers. look for 60s at the coast to low 90s inland. san francisco, 68, will be great if you're headed to at&t park, and then to oakland, low 70s for you in san jose, low to mid 80s today. also north bay, plenty of sunshine for santa rosa, napa 84

degrees. now, if you're headed to the beach, it will still be a bit breezy, we'll see the onshore flow at about 20 miles an hour, so we'll get clouds in the morning, sunny skies in the afternoon, but then again, the breeze will keep things cool, and there will be a very high uv index so you kneneed the sunscr. into the mid 60s in oakland and san mateo at 69. a lot of kids are on vacation and heading to the beach. tomorrow through wednesday, beach hazards for south and west facing beaches, we could see 7 to 9-foot breakers. and a heat advisory in effect for the east bay hills and some of the south bay hills. this is at higher elevation,

where we would see 90s and triple digits and heat illness is possible. here's your accuweather 7-day forecast, temperatures low 90s inland, up to 80, low 80s around the bay. and upper 60s along the coast. we're on this very steady pattern with fog and morning clouds and sunny afternoons. it does get hot on tuesday and wednesday, those will be the warmest days of the week, but even after the coast, it will be cool in the mid 60s and then temperatures slowly drop down into next weekend. >> it was starting out drizzly this morning. >> if you look outside, you think, oh, it's not going to be great. but tip 8:00 san franciscoians know the pattern and you'll get the sunshine this afternoon. coming up, our special milestone for the royal family, the event they're celebrating in england today.
