we are very glad in less than 24 hours, we were able to get the subject. >> news shows the bart stabbing suspect's arrest. while police got their man, friends, family and the community coming to to mourn the victim, 18-year-old nia wilson. i'm dan ashley. police following up on tips from the public finding him on an antioch-bound train. we have team coverage and we will begin with lillian kim live in oakland with the brand-new arrest video. lillian? >> reporter: dan, the chief held a media availability here at the rock ridge station. he told us the arrest was uneventful and he was taken into custody without incident. a bart ritd rider captured the t on her cell phone camera.

it was at the pleasant hill bart station. he was spotted on a platform and this sighting triggered a series of tips and ultimately his arrest. >> they're asked what his name was. he was truthful with the officers in terms of his name. they asked him for identification and he did provide a california identification. >> the arrest comes as a huge swallow the bay area where the attack triggered the outrage. he pulled a knife on the mac arthur platform. nia dieed from her stab wounds. >> i don't know what it was, but he was always kind of a problem. >> his neighbor has known him since he was a child and he lived in and out of this home and has been in trouble with the law. according to media partners, he had an extensive criminal record.

they file a restaining order after he was accused of trying to kill an employee and sentenced to prison for robbery and after serving two years was out on parole four months ago. as to what led to sunday night's stack, we don't have a motive. >> we're haven't connected him with a radical group or white supremacist group or anything like that. >> cal was taken to the bart station for questioning. he will ultimately be transported to the alameda county jail. lillian kim, abc 7 news. >> thanks very much. an emotional vigil -- wilson. kate larson is live with that part of our coverage. kate? >> reporter: dan, with the vigil starting today, he had not yet been arrested. there was a lot of anxiety at the gathering and a mixture of

sadness and outrage. a vigil turned demonstration was filled with frustration. family, friends and supporters of nia wilson gathered where the 18-year-old was stabbed to death sunday night by a stranger. >> i feel that the community failed people of color, for one. i feel that bart has failed. >> she is friends with the victim's family and they gathered where they spill into the street and expressag >> how do we let a man get on bart and slit a woman's throat and walk off through our community and no stopping him? >> she didn't do nothing to nobody. >> abc 7 spoke to nia's older sister who had a bandage on her neck where she was stabbed. they had a familyowell attackeda

district superintendent said nia wilson was one of our own. in an instant the reprehensible acts of one person have destroyed her family and shaken our community. as we mentioned a march to downtown oakland formed for nia wilson. about 1,000 people turned out and some of the crowd marched down telegraph avenue. according to oakland police, a fight broke out between a group of people. officers deployed a chemical agent to disburse the crowd. officers detained two men who were later released. police are investigating two other homicides at bart stations in the last five days. new surveillance images show a suspect who police say sucker purchased another man at the bart station early saturday. the man fell and hit his head on the cement floor. sadly he was removed from life support yesterday. last wednesday a man died after a fight at the pleasant hill

bart station. the man from pitsburg suffered a cut to his leg and it got infect and ended up killing him. police arrested a suspect. >> the oakland mayor talked about what was necessary to keep riders safe after a week of violence. >> police presence is only one factor that contributes to a safe environment. that is our job to look at all the different ways that we can create a safe and comfortable environment for all our commuters. >> the actor was arrested at pleasant hill bart and tweeted we are relieved to learn of the arrest of the suspect and may this serve as the first step for justice for nia wilson and her sister and their family. we sent out this push alert through the app earlier today, giving you instant access to pictures of the suspect who police called armed and dangerous as they searched for him. you can get these alerts by

vehicle to burst into flame like that. san francisco police released body cam video between a black business owner and officers. officers arrived on valencia street in the mission as the owner victor stevenson was opening up his gourmet lemonade stand. pthat he was a burglar.eporting >> somebody called said you were breaking in. we are here to figure it out. >> stevenson showed the officers proof that he does in fact own the business. he said he is not upset with the pd, but with who called 911 believing it might have been rooted in racism. >> a group of workers freed from a filthy warehouse finally have been paid for work on a south bay high-rise. the department of labor forced a real estate company from china to pay $250,000 to 22 employees.

they worked on the silvery towers project in san jose. the employees lived in captivity in hayward. the owner was arrested and charged with forcing them to work on construction projects. cal fire honored a fallen hero killed fighting the ferguson fire near yosemite. they gathered for the funeral of braden barney, the cal fire veteran who lost his life on the job. the fire is only 16% contain and still very much a crisis. it is being called an unprecedented move. why the white house is threatening to strip security clearances from former high ranking officials. parents, a popular snack item has been recalled over concerns about its safety. >> it's definitely one part

you see a few high and thin clouds. that marine layer will stick around. it's not as deep as it was. it's about 1,000 feet and tomorrow morning you will have to watch out especially being along parts of the coast and the bay where fog could be thick in spots. live doppler 7 showing high clouds pushing off. the fog in over the pay and parts of the coastline. from the 50s to the 70s. in case you want to escape the heat and head to the coast, there is a statement until 11:00 p.m. wednesday night. a risk of rip currents and waves and it's a slow moving southerly swell. enjoy the beach because when you look at what temperatures are going to look like, you know what i'm talking about. 65 degrees in concord. it's going to be 95 degrees so 30 degrees warmer by 4:00 p.m.
