>> want to bring in dan abrams and chris christie. let's start, dan, for the sake of argument, assume what michael cohen is claiming is true and that mueller has evidence to back it up, that president trump had advanced knowledge of that meeting. what would it mean? >> it could mean potential legal problems. we talk about collusion. collusion in and of itself isn't a crime. you have to be able to show a conspiracy. you know, could they make a case based on that? yeah, they could. when you're talking about this, this is the heart of the entire investigation which is potential connections with the russians. it's not just mike cone. it's donald jr.'s evolving statements about why the meeting was set up and afterwards what happened. it's donald trump himself's own statements and tweets about hillary clinton and potentially damaging information. it's everything around this. you put that in conjunction

with what michael cohen said and you have a potential problem. again, let's not forget that most people believed that robert a siinpr this will go into a report that goes to congress. >> you're a former prosecutor, what would a prosecutor do with a claim with this. >> this is problematic. first off, if i were the u.s. attorney for the south korean district of new york and michael cohen and people on his behalf are telling the immediaty this stuff, it makes me more and more reluck stand to make a deal with them. >> we don't know that michael cohen -- >> the bottom line is, it's out there now. so, the ability to vet this kind of stuff, the ability to corroborate it becomes diminished. prosecutors work best in quiet and in secret. mueller has shown that over the course of this investigation. whoever's doing this, putting this stuff out there, it's a limited group of people as dan and i were talking about earlier who have access to this information and can be credible. this just hurts cohen.

it makes his ability to get -- >> that's why this speculated it could have come out of the trump. >> that's even worse. that's even crazier. >> it's all hard to figure out. immediately when i first heard it, i thought it had to come from michael cohen's team. cohen's team really distanced themselves. >> this is the question that he wouldn't answer in my interview three weeks ago. >> right. look, he's looking for a deal as chris is pointing out. the last thing you want to do is start frustrating, angering the very people you want to make a deal with and this is the sort of thing that will do that. apparently, they were already irritated about the leak of the tape itself. now this is even worse to some degree. this really goes to the heart of robert mueller's investigation. >> a few things, too, in terms of everybody's reaction to all this, first off, we don't know where this came from. we don't know if this is anything that michael cohen is

this morning, a grieving family is preparing to bury 18-year-old nia wilson. the teen girl brutally stabbed in an unprovoked attack while exiting a train in oakland, california. >> my daughter was everything to me. i was supposed to be planning her graduation not her funeral. >> reporter: her murder is now being investigated as a possible hate crime. the accused murderer appeared in court on wednesday as nia's family watched. >> there has to be evidence to show it was motivated by hate. in this case whether it was motivated by their gender or by their race, we're still gathering evidence to look at that. >> reporter: according to police, the 20-year-old approached nia and her sister as they heading home from a family party, stabbing them both. before disappearing into the crowd. >> all of a sudden, we transfer and just to get blindsided by a maniac. for what? i don't know why.

meeting in trump tower with russians where they offered up dirt on hillary clinton. we want to go to our senior justice correspondent pierre thomas. >> reporter: george, good morning. that's right, more potential evidence of the growing divide between president trump and his former lawyer michael cohen. this morning, multiple sources telling abc news that cohen claims that then-candidate donald trump was aware of the june 2016 trump tower meeting with the russians before it happened. the president's legal team is calling cohen a liar. cohen's attorneys are declining comment. these allegations are at odds with repeated claims by the president and his son donald trump junior. this morning the president is up and tweeting saying quote i did not know of the meeting with my son don jr. sounds to me like someone is trying to make up stories to get himself out of an unrelated jail. to an incredible new detail about that thai cave rescue. this morning, we're learning

that the plan to save that soccer team was even riskier than we were told. matt gutman spoke with the divers who saved their lives. he joins us from hong kong. >> reporter: good morning. diving those boys out was the only one out. thai officials carried that mission so risky that said they might have lost half of the team on the way out of the cave. in fact there was so much concern about fall out the the australia and british rescue divers had to have their immunity guaranteed. so, numberswise with what was the probability of success? >> when i was asked that question by the governor what i told him we could probably realistically save 60% 70%. i expect 3 to 5 to die in this operation. >> reporter: one of the biggest concerns for the rescue divers the boys panicking in the

flooded pitch black tunnels. >> there was potential for them to kill themselves. there was potential for them to kill us. >> reporter: rescuers decided to sedate them with ketamine. mallinson volunteering for that first rescue. at one point the 13-year-old boy started to wake up. he needed to administer more sedative. >> it was very tricking. i have had syringes floating around and i was trying to locate them. >> reporter: incredibly, mallinson had to administer three more shots before he got that boy out of the cave. on the last day of the rescue, another british rescuer got lost inside the cave. they thought he was dead. you will find out how he got out of that and some other incredible details. >> you can see more of matt's report on "20/20" later tonight

progress, not perfection. i feel the love. i ha i want to let you guys know i am better. williams who has struggled with depression since she was a teenager said for years she never knew what she was suffering from. >> i think at the age of 25, had i had a name to what i was feeling at the time i would have disclosed that i've been suffering from depression. >> reporter: the singer speaking candidly about her mental health on "the talk" last year revealing her lowest point. >> i was suicidal. i was to that place where it got so dark and heavy because sometimes you feel like, i'm the provider, i take care of people. i'm not supposed to be feeling this way. what do i do? i wanted out. >> reporter: williams said while her career soared her sadness remained and it wasn't until she was in her 30s that she finally understood what was going on and then sought help. recently engaged, the 38-year-old has a whole lot to look forward to and she hopes to continue normalize this

conversation about mental health. >> when celebrities step forward and talk about their own struggle even in the face of having great success and being financially well off, it goes a long way to encouraging others to stop thinking about mental health issues as being a shameful issue. >> michelle is indeed a survivor. we'll continue pulling for her and her continued recovery. lara, i think i can see you. >> i see you. >> you look gorgeous today. >> thank you. >> and so does gio. >> thank you. all right, we'll turn now to a "good morning america" parenting alert. one mother's crusade to save lives after her teenaged son died from heat stroke after football practice in florida. now she's pushing for new regulations for high school athletes. gio is here with more on this important story. >> yeah, lara, it is serious.

good morning you. >> reporter: several student athletes die every year from heat stroke. experts say it can be prevented. in fact, it's already happened this year alone. this mom is tangible solutions right now. for more high school athletes across the country, team practices for the upcoming season very already begun and some cases tragic headlines of some collapsing and even dieing from heat stroke in practice. in the last five years, seven heat stroke deaths. most of these athletes were high school students. >> often times heat ailments aren't diagnosed correctly. they might think they have an injury or concussion because they're confused. >> reporter: the university of maryland is currently investigating whether it played a role in the death of jordan mcnair following a team workout last month. penn state football player tyler heinz died of heat stroke after conditioning drills. last year, 16-year-old zach martin died of heat stroke after collapsing during football

practice in florida. >> our children are dying from this and it doesn't need to be that way. >> reporter: zach's mom has been trying to spark change ever since her son's death. >> heat stroke is 100% survivable if it's recognized in the first minutes. it needs to be treated with cold water emersion within the first 5 to 10 minutes. >> reporter: many don't know the difference between heat exhaustion and the more serious heat stroke. heat stroke, throbbing headache. their skin is red, hot and dry. and they have a strong pulse, not a weak one, that's when you call 911. to see what experts say schools should be doing we went to chandler high school in arizona. where the state hasn't seen a football heat-related death in high school in 30 years. the temperature there now in the triple digits, above 110. >> the heat is always an issue for us here in arizona.

during practice we have 150 to 180 gallons of water. along with that, we have a big tub of ice water where we also have ice towels underneath. we also have, in case we need to, we can put a whole body in this tank in case we need to. >> reporter: now, here's why football players are at risk, the helmet, when you put this on and start working out, your head can get 30 degrees warmer. so you got to hydrate. >> you were saying up to a gallon of water a day is what these football players need to drink. >> yes, get that gallon. >> so important, great story, thank you, gio paula. >> thank you, lara. great advicehere. now seatre g interns. we just celebrated national intern day. i'm surrounded here by some wonderful abc interns. real estate mogul and shark tank star barbara cork ran has some advice. but first, here's some insight

okay, all of you love a great steak. we're back with a meat lover's diet that's catching up. abc's zachary kiesch here to explain. welcome. >> reporter: this is really an extreme diet to say the least. imagine eating meat and only meat for every single meal. well, there's group of people who are taking that to the next level. they believe it's the way to optimal health and performance and you should know this, the benefits are still up for

bate. ke a look. ♪ >> reporter: travis stateman is say simple dude, but he's strict about his diet. he eats the same thing for every meal. >> meat. >> reporter: do you consider your diet extreme? >> no, because i'm not eating carbs that are making me hungry all the time. >> reporter: he's part of a movement called carnivory, no veggies, no fruits. no carbs. their argument, meat worked for the cave mern amen and it can w us, too. i don't think i have seen so much meat in someone's fridge. travis said it was meat that helped him eliminate cravings, build muscle and shed pounds and he's not picky. any meat will do. even when it's raw. >> the hard part is raw, takes more chewing. >> reporter: i'm going to have to take your word for it. dr. drew pinsky tried the diet himself. >> three, four days, i felt better. my sleep went down and my energy

went up. >> reporter: now travis' girlfriend is on board. >> so, for me, i lost 30 pounds without exercising over the course of a summer. there was no afternoon burnout. >> reporter: most days start with a coffee. lunch today is fast food. you got four patties, cheese and bacon. and this is how you live your life? >> yeah. this is how i live my life. >> reporter: and for dinner, it's a pork chop. travis runs a facebook group for meatheads where dieters share stories about how they cut the size, adopted this strict diet and are feeling better than ever. >> i think everyone should be willing to experiment. >> travis and his girlfriend go through ten pounds of meat every three days. in terms of overall health, some big question marks. travis hasn't been to the doctor since adopting the diet. in terms of me, i'm more of a fruit and veggies kind of a guy.

george. >> if you're like me, i like fruits and veggies. dr. jen ashton is here. >> george, medically and nutritionally it comes down to one word -- why? you can lose weight on cotton candy it doesn't make it happy. we're not between two ferns here but two strawberries. if people want to go back to caveman living they're missing about 10,000 years in biological changes. changes in our environment and in our body. changes in the organisms in our body. but remember, the caveman or cavewoman also ate berries. so this diet is lacking in a lot of ways. >> what are the specific risks eating all meat? >> you're not getting fiber. if you think of this coffee, french press which i love, coffee grounds as the high when your kidneys filter that out, yeah, you're getting some filtration but you're getting a lot of this residue. and in someone with kidney disease, that's not great. someone with high kidneys high

protein is probably not going to damage your kidneys but again, what else are you missing? purely for weight loss, a lot of better ways to do it. >> special concerns with red meat. >> red meat in high doses is a carcinogen. it can lead to cancer of the g.i. tract. this is not the way to go. >> what is this? >> it's the mediterranean diet. the paleolike diet. the ashton diet. it's about balance, it's about getting healthy fats, fruits and vegetables. this is the perfect way to go. you get some broccoli, some salmon. oh, i love this salad. spinach salad. again, if you want to go back to the caveman era where the lifespan is shorter than it is lean meat, lean protein is fine. but to subsist only on meat, whether it's raw uncooked or in water, you're not going to get
