firefighters vadied. it's scarred more than $44,000 acres and now only 3% contained, down 6% from yesterday. it is a surreal scene in neighborhoods in northwest reading. dozens of homes lost as the fire moved through overnight. and for each of these homes oosk a different story. listen to how one woman described how her dad got out just in time. >> he left the house and it went up in flames, but he said he could see the fire as he was leaving. so i'm just glad he made it out. i'm afraid some people may not have. >> it is so scary, and the conditions crews are facing are brutal.

temperatures are expected to reach 110 degrees today. three have been >> reporter: today they had to lower their flag at half staff as a reminder of the danger where those firefighters are headed. this is to remember that firefighter that was killed. the firefighters still in the bay area no doubt thinking of their coworkers and the danger they're in as news comes in of injured firefighters. three firefighters from marin county were hurt on the carrcarr fire. they were hurt last night. >> the fire laid down in a large timber grove that was adjacent

to it, took quite a bit of heat. three of the firefighters sustained minor to moderate burns to their hands, head, face. they were treated at reading medical center. all three had been released by early this morning. one of them is en route now to uc davis burn center for additional follow up care, but i'm happy to report all three are in good spirits. they're doing well. >> reporter: that team had been working all day yesterday from 1:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. to try to save as many structures as they could. back here at home fire officials country costa county tell me the fact that the carr fire is drawing from so many different countries just shows how drawn down the resources are all across the because of these fires. >> a former executive producer

counties including mariposa. that is where the ferguson fire is still burning. it has charred more than 45,000 acres of land. there's no actual fire in yosemite, but the fire has sparked the closure of the valley floor until at least sunday. a man accused of killing a safeway man, investigators say the men were together in the meat department but it's not clear what led up to the killing. this is the first homicide of the year in santa clara. new at 11:00 a.m., a bombshell expose about to come out involving the ceo of cbs. multiple reports came out this morning saying the new yorker is about to publish an investigation about the ceo.

funeral services were held today in arkansas for two victims in last week's duck boat accident. 53-year-old steve smith and his 15-year-old son lance died when the duck boat capsized during a storm in missouri. 15 others were also killed. his daughter lauren was also on the boat and she survived. new information is revealing a rescue of a youth soccer team

in thailand was even more improbable than all of us thought. a u.s. ranger told thai officials he had deemed the operation a success if just one of the 12 boys made it out alive. tonight abc news will air a special on 20/20. >> they said, listen, if we bring them out through diving we may lose some of them. the thai navy s.e.a.l.s thought they may lose half of the boys coming out. it was a matter of leaving them in there or trying to dive out and risk losing a few of them. and the navy officer said for me success would have been bringing out one boy to his parents. we had no idea it would be that successful. reggie. >> and matt will reveal more
