temperatures will be mostly in the 50s during the 7:00 hour, with low clouds lingering into parts of the bay. by noon it pulls back to the coast. a summer spread of temperatures this afternoon, so very warm inland, in the mid to low 90s around the bay, and at the coast, the sea breeze will keep things cool, upper 50s will. sunset is at 8:22. i'll tell you more about the summertime pattern coming up, chris? >> fran says, thanks. two young children and their great-grandmoyer are missing in a carr fire. she called for her husband to come home. by the time don go the back, the house was burnt to the grown, and the family was nowhere to be found. they are pleading for the

community's help. >> the whole house -- we're trying to find out where they could possibly been. >> you can find contact numbs at our website, abc7news.com. there areness mandatory evacuation orders. you can see the fire zone stretching from redding to french gulch. 37,000 people have been forced from their homes. the fire has destroyed 500 structures, 75 structures are damaged. it's burned more than 48,000 acres. abc 7 news reporter laura anthony has more. >> it's driven by the hot and dry conditions.west, the flames continued to erupt to the east, trees exploding, but

fortunately here there are no homes in the path of the carr fire. down below, though, for many the damage is already done. here in lake kessiwick estates, dozens of homes are burned to the ground by a fire driven by low humidity and high winds. >> basically when they fires starred rapidly growing at this speed, they burn incredibly intense to the point where it's almost unsafe to put first responders in front of them. >> reporter: up the road a few miles, an entire community is lost, the small town of kesswic completely demolished, according to a survey, just two homes survived. and the carr fire is far from finished. this team of firefighters from the bay area is keeping a close eye on the homes that survie

lake kesswic estate. >> the inversion layer has raised, so the smoke, the the manzanitas especially. the carr fire is hitting close to home for us here at abc 7 news. some of our staff members are redding natives, as well as our former executive producer carrie laury. >> all of these houses are just gone. >> reporter: you can see some of the homes have burned while others are still standing. carey's home is safe, but sadly her mother lost her home. two firefighters have died fighting the carr fire and three marin county firefighters were hurt. they're now out of the hospital and this morning we are ledge more.

>> reporter: these are the three firefighters who were burned combatting the explosive carr fire thursday night in shasta county. they took they images moment before having to take shell ner their fire engine. >> the main fire front was approaching, and they experienced a sudden heat blast from some vegetation adjacent. >> scott and tyler suffered minor injuries, cardoza received second-degree burns to his face, and he was taken to the burn center for closer inspection. brian is now resting at home in sonoma cow. this year's fire season not halfway over, already exhausting fire crews. from the fires to the mud slides, and now the fire season, we really haven't had an opportunity for a break. >> this picture of fatigued

we have gray skies once again spilling i coast, into part of the bay. also we've been talking a lot about those fires. there's a red flag warning in effect through the redling area. this continues until monday morning. we could see gusts up to 30 miles an hour, in addition to that, the entire area, in the peach, is in a heat advisory through tomorrow night, so not great conditions. temperatures right now actually on the low side, but still quite warm for this time of the morning. this is around the highest relative humidity we'll see in the redding air. winds are calm, but the area is under a red flag warning. you notice it kind of picks up, so the winds will be coming from the northwest, and it will be hot there. today the temperature highs are

expected to hit 110, only dropping down to 102 through the rest of the week. in in addition to that weft the other big ferguson fire. there's an air quality alert through this massive area all the way down towards bakersfield. it's been that way for quite some time. back to the bay area, where we have the typical summertime pattern, the low fog and clouds right now over san francisco. most temperatures in the 50s. san francisco 52, oakland 56, san jose very mild already at 62. this time we're looking from the east bay out towards the bay bring, and you see some low clouds just right at the top. in sandy rosa, 61 degrees, novato one of our coolest spots. vacaville low59 in san jose it's also gray.

cool to warm days this week, so cool at the coast, very warm inland, and we're kind of near average temperatures all next howheay plays out. we have the fog during the luncf clears, and this evening should make a nice evening if you have plans out, except it will be cloudy again as the clouds move back in overnight. highs today will range from only upper 50s in half mean bay, san francisco 63. look for 67 in oakland. san jose 80, our warmest spots in the low to mid 90s. triple digits through ukiah, and through lakeport. enjoy the summertime weather that we have. inland it will be close to the mid 90s, but then cool at the

shasta college, the lawn has become somewhat of a kaump ground. >> the fire was really close, it was getting to our house so we have to evacuate before the fire came. >> reporter: on campus several shelters, endless supply trucks and volunteers offering every day items like animal crates for families with pets. initial estimates for friday night could be as high as 700 evacuees, michael pilipenko is tending to a sick put. >> it was very emotional, trying to figure out whether to evacuate. it was just hell. >> reporter: stories of struggle, a single mom, a student at shasta with three also boys, huddle outside as to -- >> the view inside is traumatic. cots lined up, people struggling, people dao el with

they moved the center. it's really scary. >> reporter: the carr fire is out of control. >> they're not optimistic about what tonight will look leek at all. >> niko's parents insisted the couple evacuate on wednesday, vets survived the valley fire in lake county. >> they got out early, and they know what it loos like. lo and behold i think by midnight they are starting evacuations of shasta lake. >> reporter: they grabbed pictures and one plant from their large collection, two foster cats ready for adoption made the trip. rudy, show your pretty eyes. >> reporter: they're hoping people will pack up and get out before the situation becomes dire. >> i'm seeing all they frantic panicked posts from people saying that they can't get out baas so many people are being told to evacuation there are bottlenecks.

>> reporter: california's price gouging laws protect people during times like this, and we'll have a link on abc7news.com. two fires are threatening homes in mendocino county. the sheriff has issued new mandatory evacuation others in an area affecting highway 175, which has the hopeland chocoa casino. the ranch fire, in order of ukiah, has spread to 1,000 acres. several homes are in danger. residents have been told to stay environmental liste vigilant, because conditions can change quickly. the ferguson fire has burned on the western edge of yosemite. last night calfire lifted the

good morning everyone, you can see the follow out there. it's going to be a very busy weekend with so many people in town for the san francisco marathon. frances has the forecast coming up after the break. the 40th annual gilroy garlic festival continues today. the event attracts both families and the famous. >> i love the festival, the community-driven aspect of this. the charity aspect is amazing. it's a one of a kind event. shawn o'neal, master chef winner, hosted the first contest for kids. the festival runs all weekend long. admission is $20 for adults. if the love ice cream, this

and we're just near average temperatures all through next week. highs today will range from upper 50s at the coast, so half moon bay 63, san francisco -- i mean half moon bay 58, san francisco 63, oakland 67, san jose 80 degrees, and some low to mid 90s, as we head farther inland, and you'll see some of those hazy skies again. lakeport 100 degrees. if you're heading to the beaches, it still will be cool, so only 60 at ocean beach. santa cruz warmer, though, still a high uv index. a lot of events goingo on. if you're headed to the gilroy garlic festival, you will need the sunscreen. tomorrow the warmth holds, we'll see another kind of typical day very much like today. let's also head out to the sonoma raceway, where we have some races. a cool morning, temperatures dropping to the low 50s, and

then will climb up into the low 80s day and tomorrow e. so it should be pleasant, warm and sunny. you will see the sunscreen there as well. if you are headed to the san francisco marathon tomorrow, here is what you can expect. foggy during the early morning hours. temperatures will only be in the mid to upper 50s, and only by 11:00, will we start to see some sunshine, and again gusts could reach up to 20 miles an hour, especially as you head closer to the beaches, so it will feel pretty cool for us watching the runners. the runners might enjoy the weather. so we've got a cool to warm day, cool at the beaches, upper 50s there, around the bay, upper 70s inland, topping off at the mid 90s for a few of our warmest locations. slightly cooler, temperatures dip by wednesday, but notice we are just in this ver steady
