whereabouts, you can find shelly's twitter post with contact information on our website. this morning there are no mandatory evacuation orders affecting thousands that could be in the path of the roaring flames. from redding from french gulch, 37,000 people have been forced from their homes. the fire has destroyed 500 structures, 75 structures are damaged. it's more than 48,000 acres. laura anthony has more. >> it's flaring up here, driven flames continued to erupt to the east, trees exploding, but fortunately here there are no homes in the path. down beloaned, though, for many the damage is done. here in lake keswick estates,

dozens of homes areurd to the ground. >> everyone likes to say they produce their own weather, but basically when these fires start rapidly growing at this speed, they burn incredibly intense to the point where it's almost unsafe to put first responders in front of them. >> upped road just a few miles an entire community has lost, keswick, population of less than 500 people, completely demolished. according to a survey, just two homes survived. the carr fire i team of fir keep a close a is on the homes that survived. >> right now you can see some of the inversion layer lift up a bit. that's allowed some preheating of the materials down below, the trees, the manzanitas especially, to get some oxygen back into it.

that's why you're seeing the fire flare up a by. laura anthony, abc 7 news. the carr fire is hitting close to home for us here at abc 7 news. some of our staff members are redding native as well as our former executive producer. >> all of these houses are just gone. you can see some of the homes have burned while others are still standing. carey's home is safe, but sadly her mother last her home in the fire. two firefighters have died fighting the carr fire, and three marin firefighters were hurt. they're now out of the hospital. abc 7 news reporter carlos >> reporter: at least are three firefi burne trsday night county. they took they images moments before having to take shelter.

>> the main fire front was approaching them. they experienced a sudden heat blast. >> reporter: scott and tyler received minor injuries, released from the hospital. cardoza was taken to uc davis for closer inspection. we made contact with brian who is now resting at his home. his girlfriend tells us he's in good spirits. >> the sonoma fires to santa barbara, to the mud dodd slides, we haven't had an opportunity to get a break from fire season. >> reporter: this picture of a handful of fatigued firefighters catching some rest highlights the challenges they face with no break in site. 24 of those firefighters will be at the front lines of the carr fire. it's a prior for them, as they hope to increase containment. take a look at this video

friday morning, rescue crews have focused on recovering a worker's body. two men were working on a 24-inch storm drain when the trench collapsed beneath them. they were getting out when the trench collapsed. >> it's unclear how deep the man was when it collapsed, but the trench was about 12 feet deep. the instability required specialized equipment be brought in, equipment used in confined space rescued. i'm hoping they'll be able to find him. me, you know, i feel bad for his family. >> reporter: angel lives across the street. the attorney bill bogdanay it waa tough day for everyone. >> this is something we live

if you are headed to the zoo or in san francisco today, you're going to need a jacket. it will be cloudy and cool. you can see the low clouds, they'll stick around the coast all throughout the day. it's spread into -- also let's head up to northern california, we have a red flag warning in effect. especially -- this is all the way through monday morning, with gusts up to 30 miles an hour, in addition this whole section is under a heat advisory under tomorrow night as well. current conditions in redding, still very warm. it has dropped to 73 degrees. winds are light right now with gusts only to 4 miles an hour, so it's the best chance for firefighters, but check out how hot it will get. 110 today, and scorching all throughout the week. in addition there's a large part of the state, a whole gray air here, mainly due to the ferguson fire, but be careful, very smoky

and unhealthful air. right now most -- a few cooler spots, lie novato. 50 degrees, novato just jumped up for 52. and san jose and los gatos in the low 60s. live view outside, you see some of those hills spilling in over the hills as they come in and that will retreat back. so low clouds, fogs, and cool to warm temperatures this weekend, and then we're going to be near average pretty much all week, so highs today from the 6s on to 90s, if you're headed to the gilroy garlic festival it will warm up, with plenty of sunshine. at the beach in santa cruz, 74 degrees there, lower part of the peninsula will be comfortable. redwood city 72, but notice upper 50s still all along the

coast, and breezy as well. that marine layer and sea breeze keeps things cloudy. 60, downtown san francisco only getting up to 63. that's a little bit below our average for this time of year. some hazy conditions, as we see some of the smoke blowing from the mind seno county fires, and in the east bay 60s and 70s, berkeley 66, fremont warmer, as we head south, 77 degrees. inland areas in the upper 80s, so look for 89 in san ramon. also some hazy skies as well there in the east bay, and overnight lows will be cooling down into the 50s once again. so look for low 50s, mid 50s around the bay, late, though, at 60, sandy rosa 52.

san francisco dropping down into the mid 50s. for the marathon tomorrow, it will be foggy. that's what you would expect. temperatures in the low 50s, climbing up into the upper 50s towards the end of the race, we'll finally get some sunshine by 11:00, but that sea breeze will make it feel cooler with gusts up to 20 miles an hour. here's the accuweather forecast. cool conditions at the coast. mild around the bay, and very warm temperatures inland. 94 will be some of our hottest spots around the bay area, a steady pattern tomorrow, just slightly cooler with a wide range of temperatures still by wednesday, that will look like the coolest day and we are in a very typical pattern. with thousands of people in town for the san francisco marathon, so many folks come to the city for this event because of our weather conditions.

the homeowners was taken to the hospital for burns. it's not clear yet what sparked the fire. time now is 6:30. developing news, we're keeping a close eye on the car fire in redding which has destroyed 500 billings, damaging 75 others, at last check more than 48,000 acres have burned. it's only 5% contained. the red cross is very busy. dion lim has more from shasta college. >> reporter: as the sun set on a hazy ash-filled sky, the lawn has become somewhat of a campground. the fire was really close, and it was getting to our house, so we had to evacuate. >> reporter: on campus several shelters, endless supply trucks, volunteers offering everyday items like animals crates for families with pets. initial estimates for friday night could be as high as 700

redding. there's a red flag warning in effect until monday morning, gusts up to -- as well, and this entire area in parts of northern california is also under a heat advisory through tomorrow night. so lots of triple-digit heat there. in fact the temperatures for the week ahead. today it's expected to hit 110, only dropping down to 102. scorching so not great news for firefighters there. in san francisco, a completely different story. we've got fog, low clouds, and a sea breeze, keeping things cool here. you can see how thick the marine layer is. oakland 55, san jose much milder at 62. morgan hill 57, half moon bay 54. i want to take you to the other side of the bay. this time from walnut creek. we see some hazy conditions out there with the sun, and you see
