call or visit thanks for joining us today. governor brown is holding a briefing rite now on the california wild fires. he met with emergency officials this morning. first i want to give you the latest numbers just in on the growth of the fires. let's start with the complex. made up of the ranch and river fire. ranch fire burned 59,000 acres and 15% contained. river fire burned nearly 32 acres and 38% contained. evacuation orders were lifted last night. people started returning home. they tell us they're grateful to the firefighters and know the

battarrom over. many road closures are still in place. now to the car fire. crews are gaining ground on blaze. it's now 115,000 acres and 35% contained. the small community of louis ton is the latest to evacuate. 2,500 structures remain threatened. 1,400 have been destroyed. we're in for a really rough ride. that's how the governor described the inferno raging across the state. it's a pattern we will be forced to get used to. just listening to the governors update. >> it's dire. 16 major fires right now in the state. 32,000 people are out of their hopes. thos the scariest nerm numbers. august 1. in previous years cal fire might face these conditions in late august or september.

now the fires are starting to rage in july. and they're going all the way to december. governor brown speaking from operation center in sacramento says this is a newa. us especially the firefighters are still learning about. >> we're in a new normal. we're in a drought. that will continue. whether you call it a drought that's a matter for the weather people. i would suspect it will be more fires to come. and more fires each year for a very long time. >> we haveo 1 battle the flames and we heard yesterday it's still not enough. 17 states are sending resources from as far as florida and uld uord th stressing we aren't

just seeing earlier and longer fire seasons we're seeing larger fires. that is a terrible and deadly combination that's going to last for years to come. >> thank you. the fires are causing unhealthy air concerns. meteorologist mike, mike? >> let's talk about what we have seen in the east bay. this is the most affected away from the fires. the north bay and the lake county. this is highway 24. this is the onramp you're looking east to 680 south. that's supposed to be the mountain. you can't see it. because of the smoke out there. rest assured the air quality even though it's looking bad has been healthy. this is the current air quality. we're healthy. outside of us it's moderate. the most dangerous air is around the biggest fire the ferguson fire. down around fresno. and up into north. the whole swath there.

look at the color code. that's unhealthy for everybody. pocket of very unhealthy around shas ta. what is looks like in that's half dome. you can't see it because of the smoke. we're being saved by the marine layer and the sea breeze. the rest of the state is not so lucky. >> thanks so much. firefighters across the bay area are helping battle the wild fires in california. many are on the front lines of the car and complex fire. that's having an impact on crews and needs here in the bay area. mat keller is live in san jose with more. >> this is station 13. behind me here. in south san jose. this are firefighters from this station at the fire. on the fronters are working hard and the firefighters left behind in the city are also working hard. they're working longer because

of the devastating fire season. >> there comes a time when every fire department needs help. san jose fire captain knows firsthand. >> nobody if the fire service no single agency can cover all the emergencies in the area. last year the floods we brought resources in. >> san jose is lending a helping hand. 23 firefighters with five engine companies and are helps cal fire. and the car fire. >> most of the rigs are on the fires are doing structure production. they define an area where there are homes or structures that are threatened and the crews protect them. he crews are on the front lines. reserve apparatus and over time is used to maintain minimum staffing levels throughout the season. this is a a tough fire season. that means the worst could be to come. >> if it does continue which we

breaking news from san francisco. just ruled that president trump executive order threatening to with hold funding from sanctuary cities is unconstitutional. san francisco and filed lawsuits against the order the trump administration has defended lt order saying it applies to a small pot of federal money that already forces cities to comply with federal immigration law. no comment yet fl the justice department. >> new at 11:00.

brand new cell phone video shows the moment of impact when the plane crashed in mexico. take a look. that crash happened yesterday afternoon in. during a bluster storm, 103 people were on board the plane. it had just taken off. a miracle nobody was killed. 49 people were taken to the hospital. most with minor injuries. some people walked away from the plane before first responders survived. officials tracked down survives to make sure everyone was accounted for. a gust of wind may have hit the plane. >> the owner of the l.a. guy bar the abby. on sunday on a flight new york to los angeles the airline told him to give up his coach

in the 70s to 80s in the east bay. and south bay 70s. 60s around the bay and 50s along the coast. sab san francisco 54 degrees right now. selling a lot of sweatshirts. here's a look at from the camera. the cloud deck which is hanging around. it's about to open up over this part of the bay. besides at the coast. mostly sunny, hazy. temperatures close to average. clouds and mist will return the next couple of nights. thursday morning, friday morning. if you run into mist and drizzle you'll run into it again. we'll have minor tweaks in the extended. trying to cool it we have the same players on that. creating the same weather. this low will slide towards us and increase t s breeze and marine layer and bring us cooler weather. until then you have to be near water to have the most cmfortable temperatures in the south bay. low 80s to mid-80s for the

valley. the hills you flirt with the 90s. 74 santa cruz. midto upper 70s comfortable a breeze on the peninsula. half-moon bay 61. the warm spot along the coast. most under the gray air mass in the 50s. downtown south san francico. temperatures there in the mid-60s. same thing. if you want to go to golden gate it will be in fog. reaching towards richmond. in the north bay we have 80s. napa a little breezy there in the mid-70s. temperatures out of the 100s. along the east bay shore low to mid-70s until you get to the finger fog and the breezes. 68 this afternoon. and temperatures in the mid-80s in brent wood. grab the sunscreen you'll get
