here at home, we're expecting an update today following a shooting in palo the shooter was able to escape. officers spotted the car and chased it to 101, but lost track of the driver. it is not clear what led up to the shooting. the macarthur bart station is back open. official his to close it last night following another stabbing. it happened at the same station where nia wilson was stabbed to death last month. abc 7 news reporter, cornell barnard has the latest. >> reporter: the bart station was closed friday night as police investigated a fight and double stabbing. >> it was very scary especially after something that just happened recently. >> reporter: she saw one man who had been slashed. >> the one that had a slash on his face, like an inch - it looked like six and they were holding his face while he was bleeding. >> reporter: bart officials say a fight broke out between two men on a richmond-bound train. one witness said it was violent.

>> two people just punching each other. it was just super, super aggressive and enough to make someone bleed and their blood staining the chairs. >> reporter: one man suffered a knife wound to his arm and another to his face. the incident an hour after a vigil for nia wilson. >> it was not god's plan for nia to die on that platform. >> reporter: a small group gathered to honor the 18-year-old who died in the unprovoked attack. her sister was also stabbed, but survived. 27-year-old suspect john cowell is charged with her murder. so far police have no motive, but many believe it was racially motivated. >> i don't think anything like this is ever random. it's never random. >> reporter: bart officials say wounds to both men are considered non-life threatening and no arrests have been made. in oakland, cornell barnard, abc 7 news.

this morning a sonoma county man accused of throwing a suspicious device under a deputy's patrol car is now in custody. the incident happened in a safeway barking lot parking lot kernville. this is the bomb squad blowing up a backpack that they believe belonged to the suspect. witnesses saw a man ignite a device and throw it under a patrol car. one safeway employee was hurt when the device exploded. officials say the deputy ran from the store after hearing the blast, and spotted the suspect and then chased him down. the suspect's name has not been released. 6:03 is the time. people walked away without injury after a couch frame hit the vehicle they were in. abc 7 news was in palo alto at the crossing at churchill avenue and alma street. the collision happened around 6:00 last night and it remains under investigation. none of the nearly 300 passengers on the train were hurt. an investigation into this

crash in fremont, we're told the truck overturned near interstate 680 and landed on a car. as nasty as the crash looks, the two drivers survived and the injuries are not considered life-threatening. police were still on the scene last night hours after it happened. there's a new center to help guide the homeless off the streets in san francisco. the mayor joined the assembly member in a ribbon cutting ceremony yesterday. you are looking at the new division circle. it used to be a caltrans parking lot. mayor breed said the new center is only the beginning. >> many of you know my top priority as mayor is to make sure that we're moving our homeless population out of tent, off the streets and into permanent housing. >> the center should be able to help 125 people at a time. it will guide them to city services and eventually permanent housing. a head's up for bart

you paid. >> rolando said he had trusted travelocity's advice to send the money and it was a scam. >> if it's on your website then you guys are responsible for it. >> what they said was it's out of our hands. we don't have your money. >> he contacted 7 on your side, we contacted travelocity. it tells us the company does scrutinize listings for possible fraud. as for reassuring rolando, it was safe to wire money, travelocity said it is possible there was a miscommunication and we do apologize for any misunderstanding. travelocity also refunded all of his money. >> after ten weeks of frustration all i needed to do was call 7 on your side. >> travelocity said it uses manual and electronic means to detect fraudulent listings which it says are extremely rare and it will notify and help any customer who may get caught up in a scam. my advice, never wire money to anyone you don't know.

news. good morning. i'm meteorologist frances dinglasan and here's doppler 7 and the satellite image. it is very different out there this morning. skies are clear over many parts of the bay area and there are clouds off the coast and even through the central part of the state and also red flag warning in effect until 11:00 for those areas where we have big fire concerns in redding due to the karr fire and the mendocino complex fire. all of this under a red flag warning and ridge gusts can be anywhere from 25 to 35 miles per hour. in the sierra range through this section, ridge gusts can reach up to 65 miles per hour and very low humidity this afternoon and 5 temperatuseekugh those areas live shot from san francisco and the tower looking down over san francisco clear skies right now and most temperatures in the 50s. san francisco, 56.

oakland, 54 and half moon climbing into the low 50s this hour. check out the golden gate bridge. you can see it this morning. no marine layer and more temperatures for you in the 50s and 60s. low 50s through napa, novato and through vacaville, concord and livermore. at this time we're looking from the east bay hills and you'll see the hazy conditions as we look out toward mount diablo. here's what you can expect, mild to warm conditions and slightly cooler tomorrow as the air drops from the north from the gulf of alaska and the gulf of alaska, and by this weekend and midweek we'll see triple digits inland. >> i'll just show yousible sate winds will be coming from the northwest and notice the smoke from redding and the mendocino complex fires and they're drifting towards the south and also east. we could see some hazy

school last week. both fires have expanded and have now burned a combined 157,000 acres. firefighters hope to have them contained in about a week and a half. >> today governor brown will be in shasta county touring the area charred by the carr fire. the fire has destroyed more than a thousand homes in nearly two dozen businesses since it started last month. residents in redding were allowed back in last night. many of the homes there are now gone. the fight has been incredibly tough for redding firefighters. some of their homes have been destroyed and the department lost one of their own. amanda del castillo explains who local firefighters are doing to help. >> reporter: unparalleled heroism as firefighters are battling the sixth mosttures in the homes of redding firefighters. among the six people killed, fire inspector jeremy stoke.

>> my understanding is what he was doing that night is he was simply assisting in evacuations. >> reporter: a home tootown her like many others. many have been unable to take more than a moment to breathe after losing a brother or to get things in order after losing their home. >> they're still active out on the lines trying to defend those neighborhoods, trying to save others, their friends, families and neighbors. their pain is being felt across the country including here in the bay area. former firefighter gabriel redding was working with stoke. >> you can rely on that guy on just about anything you need. >> so merrick and the alameda firefighters association created this go fund me page to offer some relief to those when lost their homes and to the family who lost their hero. >> it might not make a big dent in what's to come, but even if it helps them with groceries, that's all i could ask.

have a great week, everybody. i'm larry beil. >> now an accuweather update from abc 7 mornings. >> we have northerly winds that pushed the marine layer away and the satellite image, clear skies over parts of the bay area and there are clouds off the coast and even through the interior parts of the state and red flag warning in effect until 11:00 tonight from the areas through redding and the mendocino complex fire. in this area, ridge gusts can reach anywhere from 25 to 35 miles per hour and in the sierra range, gusts can climb up to 65 miles per hour and for all these areas, low humidity this afternoon dropping from 5 to 20% as the afternoon heat picks up. in fact, for redding today the high is 97 and even though the red flag warning expires hot and dry conditions will continue throughout the week climbing up to 108 degrees by thursday. here's the rest of the bay area and you can enjoy some of the clear skies and no clouds over the golden gate bridge right
