predicted. plus, the saucy scandal surrounding the u.s. pizza museum opening today. and the gut-busting, calorie-crashing megaburger. forget a quarter pounder. would you eat a seven-pounder? good friday morning. i'm maggie rulli in for diane macedo. >> i'm kendis gibson. we begin with a major ruling from a federal judge halting the deportation of a mother and child after their plane had even taken off. >> the judge threatened to hold attorney general jeff sessions in contempt and ordered the government to immediately bring the family back to the united states to seek asylum. abc's stephanie ramos has the new details. good morning, stephanie. >> reporter: hey, maggie and kendis, good morning. when it comes to the trump administration's new policy toward asylum seekers, the aclu says there's this disregard for the life-or-death circumstance that these immigrant women and

children are facing. a mother and daughter seeking asylum in the u.s. were deported by the trump administration while their case was still being heard in court. during their hearing, u.s. district judge emmet sullivan was told the mom and daughter were already on their way back to el salvador. reacting to the news, the judge said, this is pretty outrageous. somebody in pursuit of justice in a united states court is just spirited away while her attorneys are arguing for justice for her? he immediately ordered the government to turn their plane around and threatened contempt charges starting with attorney general jeff sessions if the situation isn't fixed. the aclu representing the pair tweeted, the mother and daughter are still going to have to fight the trump administration's illegal new asylum policy. they're challenging a recent policy change by the justice department that aims to speed up the removal of asylum seekers who fail to prove their cases.

this comes just as the parents of first lady melania trump officially became u.s. citizens through a process the president has repeatedly criticized as chain migration. >> under the current broken system, a single immigrant can bring in virtually unlimited numbers of distant relatives. >> the lottery system and chain migration, we're going to end them fast. >> reporter: the president's in-laws moved to the united states from slovenia and were just recently sponsored by their daughter. their attorney says they received no special treatment. sources tell abc news the mother and daughter ordered back to the u.s. are now on their way to a detention facility in texas. back over to you guys. >> they still have a long legal battle ahead. stephanie ramos, thank you. a state of emergency has now been declared and 20,000 people have been ordered to evacuate in southern california where the wildfire known as the holy fire has exploded in size. you can see the flames here. they're edging even closer to more homes in riverside county.

fire crews have been working around the clock. authorities say a man feuding with his neighbors set the fire. it's now spread to more than 10,000 acres. one resident caught this firenado. here we have abc's will carr who is on the front lines. >> reporter: this fire has made a serious run. you can see those flames racing up this hillside. check out just how close we are to homes in this area. we have firefighters up here standing their ground doing everything they can to protect these homes. you can see them spraying these flames down. >> meanwhile, eight deaths are now blamed on the wildfire burning around redding, california, including a fire mechanic killed in a traffic accident. well, the stage is set for a series of protests that could turn violent this weekend one year after the deadly clashes in charlottesville, virginia. the white supremacist who organized that rally is now planning a demonstration just steps from the white house. counterprotesters hope to outnumber them while police hope to keep the two sides far apart.

this morning, preparations are under way to mark the anniversary of this deadly violence in charlottesville, virginia. white nationalists and neo-nazis protesting the removal of a confederate statue and were met by counterprotesters. the sides engaged in violent brawls, and counterprotester heather heyer was killed when she was struck by a car that plowed into a crowd. >> i think there's blame on both sides. >> reporter: sunday marks one year since the deadly clash. virginia has declared a state of emergency in case of protests but many of the same groups are instead planning to protest here, washington, d.c.'s lafayette square park, just feet from the white house. >> we, the people of washington, d.c., say unequivocally that we denounce hate, we announce -- we denounce anti-semitism, and we denounce the rhetoric that we expect to hear this sunday. >> reporter: organizers of the unite the right rally have a permit to march and demonstrate

as do groups like black lives matter and even someone who will burn a confederate flag. members of the answer coalition are ready. >> we also don't believe that if ignored these groups will just go away. we believe that if ignored they will become emboldened and they will continue to grow, and we really can't allow that to happen. >> reporter: there's been an increase in acts of hate and white supremacist propaganda since charlottesville. by one count more than 3,000 incidents, mostly in the eastern u.s. in d.c. this weekend airbnb is warning it may expel anyone attending the alt-right rally as it did in charlottesville. and in addition to charlottesville and washington, police across the country are on alert for possible protests this weekend. the state department is calling for an investigation into air strikes led by saudi arabia that have left dozens of children dead in neighboring yemen. the u.s. has denied involvement in thursday's air strike, which apparently hit a school bus packed with children on a field trip. but the u.s. has been supplying

equipment for the bombing campaign, which has targeted rebels loyal to iran fighting in yemen's civil war. more than 10,000 people have died in the three-year conflict. a political drama is unfolding in kansas where results from the republican primary race for governor just got even closer. newly discovered voting discrepancies have narrowed the lead that the secretary of state kris kobach had to just 121 votes. kobach says that he will now recuse himself from overseeing the vote count, which is his job as secretary of state. let's take a look now at your weather for this friday morning. good morning. unfortunately, heat and blustery winds remain in place in the southwest making it easy for fires to spread yet again. in the northwest we're watching near record-breaking heat with temperatures well into the triple digits across idaho and montana, and on th in the inter region. that cold front will push its

the company hasn't said though how it will keep making the shoes. reports say the work will be outsourced. >> kendis is immediately stockpiling his crocs now. turning now to the latest in the russia investigation, a woman known as the manhattan madam is set to testify today. kristin davis is expected to appear before special counsel robert mueller's grand jury. davis is a close friend of trump confidant roger stone who could be facing an indictment. she's the madam who claimed to have supplied prostitutes to former new york governor eliot spitzer. she says she knows nothing about any alleged russian collusion. so, a woman who described herself as a clean, thoroughbred white girl is now the nation's best known dui suspect. police say lauren cutshaw used that description of herself to try to avoid jail time. she was pulled over for running a red light while speeding, and police say she failed a sobriety test and her blood alcohol level was nearly

twice the legal limit. she also faces drug charges. in medical news it might be time to pick up the salt shaker once again. a large new study finds salt is not as bad as previously thought and reducing your intake to very low levels could be dangerous and actually raise your risk for heart attack. the study found three to five grams of daily sodium does not increase the risk of health problems in most people. but as always consult your own doctor before changing your diet. well, here's one place to celebrate that news. this might be america's favorite new museum. the u.s. pizza museum is opening today in chicago. it features 3,000 square feet of exhibits promising to tell the full story of pizza and its history here in the u.s., but many new yorkers, of course, are protesting the location claiming the windy city's deep dish pizza isn't the real thing. one headline asked what's next, the museum of snow in miami? valid. >> throwing some shade on that one. >> yes. all right, coming up, the hollywood star apologizing for unprofessional behavior after a me too backlash. also ahead, the prank caught on camera, a teenager pushed off

from the hospital overnight but not before she shared new details about her terrifying ordeal just three days ago. here's abc's marci gonzalez. >> three, two -- >> no, i won't go -- >> reporter: this video shows the moment 16-year-old jordan holgerson is pushed off a bridge in washington state. >> i think i might have fainted midair, because i don't really remember the fall. apparently i was drowning. >> reporter: hospitalized with punctured lungs and five broken ribs, recounting standing on that ledge initially planning to jump into the water below. >> three, two -- >> no, i won't go. >> well, she's saying no. >> reporter: but then hesitating. >> i was like taking too long so i was like getting scared. like it was a really tall bridge, and then she pushed me. >> reporter: you see that push and hear holgerson screaming as she plummets nearly 60 feet into the lewis river. the impact so loud you can hear it in the recording. one of her doctors say as painful as the injuries are, holgerson is fortunate. >> this could have been horrible. she could have died. when you fall three times your

height, 50% of people will die. so that's usually about 25 feet. >> reporter: the teen's mother says she has a long road to recovery and is asking the woman who pushed her to come forward. marci gonzalez, abc news, los angeles. we turn to the me too apology from an oscar-winning actor and producer. casey affleck, as you may know, has been fairly quiet since the start of the me too movement, even opting not to appear at this year's oscars. but now he's promoting a new movie and sat down for an interview with the associated press. during that surprisingly frank interview, he admitted he contributed to an unprofessional environment ten years ago on the set of his movie, "i'm still here." >> i really did not know what it was -- what i was responsible for as kind of the boss. i don't know if i even thought of myself as the boss, but i behaved in a way and i allowed others to behave in a way that was really unprofessional and i'm sorry. >> the surprising admission from casey affleck, and it was

affleck's allegedly inappropriate behavior that led to a legal settlement with two women in 2010. a new nfl season is bringing on more national anthem protests. several players took a knee or raised their fist before last night's preseason games. others stayed in the locker room and the league says it wants players to stand during the anthem but because talks are ongoing with the players union, the nfl says it will not discipline any protesters for now. this football season there is a new burger on the menu at the arizona cardinal stadium. the gridiron. it is a burger weighing seven pounds and includes five burger patties, five hot dogs, bratworst, five of them, eight chicken tenders, 12 -- oh, my god, 12 ounces of fries, 20 slices of cheese, along with eight slices of bacon just because. it cost $75. if you finish the whole thing in less than an hour you get a free cardinals jersey. >> if you can finish. >> if you can finish is the key, exactly. >> gosh. challenge accepted, kendis.

miles. we're starting off the morning with a big problem. >> this is in the milpitas areas we have a rollover crash, sounds like a pick up truck flipped over several times. emergency crews are on the scene. for a brief time all lanes were blocked they do have the far left lane open now. keep that in mind, i will keep a close eye on it. bay bridge toll plaza, a stack up already as well. no metering lights, though, we should have in about an hour. eight people including children are hurt after a serious crash. this is new video of the three vehicle crash in sonoma county. it was a near head on collision on lake view highway. it happened around 8:30 last night. the lakefield fire police said several people in the crash were

critically injured taken to local hospitals. a one stop assistance center for those affectedy the mendocino complex fire is now open. >> the smaller river fire is 87% contained and the ranch fire at 49% containment. fire officials say it will still take until at least next month to fully surround these fires. they've destroyed 119 homes, 9,000 structures are still threatened. the assistance center will help with everything from insurance matters to debris removal to food and medical care. it's at the alpine senior center, it will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. every day through next friday. the mendocino complex fires and other fires have made liability a hot topic at the state capital in sacramento, the main issue who should beonsiblt.
