90s. cooler compared to yesterday. around the bay, upper 70s. at the coast, near the same as yesterday. low 60s. we have more cooling coming up and i'll tell you about that with the seven day forecast. >> breaking news this morning. all lanes of northbound interstate 880 in oakland are closed after a crash that left a person dead. it happened at 2:30 near the 66 avenue exit. chp says two cars were involved. traffic is now being diverted off the freeway at 98th avenue. there is no estimated time when the lanes will reopen. officers are investigating the crash as a possible dui. a pilot and his passenger are safe this morning after landing on an east bay highway bringing traffic to a stand still. dash cam video shows the plane landing on interstate 580 in

unincorporated san leandro last night. it was supposed to land at the executive airport. amanda del castillo has more. you don't see this every day, a plane on the highway. this is crazy to see something like this. this is unbelieverable. i mean to see something that happened like this where you see a plane land on the freeway, incredible. >> reporter: at 6:46 yesterday afternoon, a man and passenger made a landing before the 154th avenue exit. the pilot told chp the fuel line snapped and caused the plane to lose pressure. >> it was like, boom, a car was going out of gas or something. then it hit the ground. and all i could do is just run and scream and say a plane is on our freeway. >> reporter: chp says he's never

seen anything like it. the agent released this aerial footage of the aircraft near the right lane. >> not every day. it's first of my career. you know, i've seen it throughout the state. b ar reporter: the two inde ane awat there was also no damage to surrounding structures including the freeway or the plane. but, of course, the saturday evening commute throughout ashland was snarled as crewed worked to remove the aircraft from the interstate. >> you can have all the traffic you want in the world as long as nobody gets hurt. you know? that's about it. >> reporter: the investigation into exactly what forced that emergency landing is still under way. just a miracle that everyone walked away without a kratch. amanda del castillo. developing news on the fast double plane at seattle's airport. the family is in shock. investigators believe richard

russell, the horizon air employee who stole the aircraft and later crasheded it is dead. one of his friends who had a statement for the family, that statement says, russell was warm, kind, and gentle. >> we are devastated by these events. and jesus is truly the only one holding this family together right now. without him, we would be hopeless. as the voice recordings show, his intent was not to harm anyone. he was right in saying that there are so many people who have loved him. >> experts say that friday's incident will likely prompt major review of industry security measures. united airlines is apologizing to passengers for flight delays it blames on a problem with one of the computer systems. abc 7 news was inside terminal three at san francisco international airport yesterdayw r wo. were several hours

long. sfo is a major hub for united. the airline says a slowdown of the system that provides information to pilots before flights depart is what caused that issue. work is resuming on the twin peeks tunnel project in san francisco following the death of a construction worker. abc 7 news was at the station shortly after a steel beam fell on a worker inside the tunnel on friday. officials immediately shut down the job site. paramedics rushed the man to zuckerberg general hospital where he died. he was a signal technician for an oakland based company. both san francisco police and osha are investigating the accident. the tunnel has been undergoing major upgrade work since june. today marks one year since a violent crash during a white nationalist rally that left a woman dead. heather hire died last year in

charlottesville, virginia. on high alert in preparation for rallies there and in washington, d.c. abc news reporter ty hernandez has the details. >> reporter: police arresting at least three people. the governor declaring a state of emergency hoping to avoid a repeat of last year when protests turned deadly. police blocking off streets, mobilizing hundreds of officers preparing for sunday's event. jason kessler, one of the organizers of last year's unite the right event, says he's not a racist. calling himself a civil rights advocate for white people. >> white people are about minority and in both the united states and europe. i think we're facing epidemic levels of anti-white discrimination. >> reporter: this year the unite to right two rally is held in front of the white house on sunday. president trump criticized for his response to the violence

throughout the bay area. happening today, limited service begins at san francisco's new sales force transit center. yesterday so many people wanted to see the new center that police had to get involved to keep everyone safe. starting to day, ac transit, west cat links, amtrak and greyhound buses will use this as the new transbay terminal. cornell bernard has a look. >> sorry. >> police turned some people away, limiting access to the new sales force transit center public open house. after huge crowds showed up. this was what we saw. a sea spectators wanting to get their first look at the new center. >> it connects sf to the bay. i can tell there is a lot of investment. this is a big deal. >> reporter: the $2.26 billion transit center is impressive, one million square feet, four levels above ground connecting commuters with a bay area. a commute game changer for lisa.

peninsula coast right now. and here's a live shot. we're actually seeing some of those low clouds in san francisco where currently 57 degrees, oakland, 55. san jose, 60 degrees, half moon bay, 55 degrees. this time from the east bay, we are looking oute low coastal cl. we do have clear skies over parts of the east bay. really pretty there. the bay bridge in the middle of your screen. santa rose yashgs santa rosa, 54 degrees. fairfield, 61, concord, 69, liver more, 60 degrees. i'll show you the forecast animation. during the 7:00 hour, we'll see some of the low coastal clouds, parts of the north bay and peninsula. and then notice we get a lot of sunshine this afternoon. some high clouds passing through. the clouds will fill in again overnight into tomorrow morning. we could even see a little drizzle along the coast. if you want to see the meteor showers, head away from the coast as well and away from the

city lights. highs to day range from 60s to low 90s. we'll see partly cloudy conditions at the beaches. and comfortable 80s in the north bay. santa rose yash santa rosa, 88. hazy skies through the north bay valley. air quality is improved and it is good through the weekend for most of the bay area. oakland 73, freemont, 82, san jose, 86. we'll see passing high clouds once again later on today. now if you are headed outside, it's going to be a little cooler compared to yesterday. about the same. but we'll see a few more clouds today. breezy conditions this afternoon. in the mid 60s. and then it does cool off pretty quickly, especially if you're staying to watch janet jackson. you'll need a jacket because it will be chilly by the time the concert ends at 10:00 p.m. 55 degrees. overnight lows will be in the 50s once again with the fog spilling in from the coast into parts of the bay and the east bay. so these are the areas, the foggy areas where we have a

harder time seeing the meteor shower. here's a look at the next seven days in san jose. temperatures are going to drop. in san jose, average high is 82. we're above that right now. but notice it kind of tumbles into the middle of the week with the increasing on shore flow. and then it ramps back up really quickly as high pressure builds into next weekend. so get ready for some heat. it is returning. in the meantime, here's the seven day forecast. a breezy afternoon inland. highs in the low 90s around the bay. lots of upper 70s at the coast. in the low 60s. so we're still above average. temperatures will start to drop. we'll wake up to some morning fog and sunshine on monday. high clouds passing through. and by wednesday, it will be a cooler day for what we would expect this time of year. but not too far below average. warming back up andng next weekend. >> oh, boy. at least for now the air quality

going to be it. >> 75 minutes after takeoff, the plane crashes into a small island. russell is killed. >> i have a lot of people that care about me. it's going to disappoint them that i did this. i would like to apologize to each and every one of them. >> reporter: the fbi says this does not appear to be terrorist but it is a big red flag for aviation security. however, the airline says it's still too early to talk about whether security procedures need to be beefed up. >> services are planned for a highway patrol officer killed in a crash on interstate 80 in fairfield. 46-year-old officer kirk grif died friday when a pickup truck veered off the road hitting him and the car he pulled over. he was a 19-year veteran of the department. some streets were shut down yesterday as law enforcement officers escorted his body to the chapel funeral home. a reporter posted video of the procession on his facebook.

we have beautiful sunday ahead. here is live doppler 7 and satellite image. not as much cloud cover this morning. just along the coast right there from san francisco down towards santa cruz right now. that's a pretty shot. we look out to walnut creek. you see there is a little haze out there. but air quality is going to be good. and from the north bay down to santa clara valley, we got good air and then on monday the interior inland east bay areas will drop to moderate. that's because we have this increasing sea breeze and on shore flow. that will drop temperatures a few degrees into tomorrow. here's a live shot from the exploratorium camera. you see lots of blue skies. clear skies and also low clouds starting to fill in from the coast. and san francisco is currently 57. oakland 55. mountain view, san jose in the low 60s. morgan hill cool at 53 degrees. this time we're looking from the east bay hills and looking west across the bay bridge in san francisco. and also in this shot you can

see some of that low coastal clouds starting to move in, that marine layer. santa rosa, 54 degrees. napa, 59. and concord is currently at 69 degrees. so that's where things will warm up this afternoon into the low 90s today. here's a look at the forecast animation with the cloud cover. so we have clouds starting to come in to san francisco and along the coast during the 7:00 hour. and then this evening we'll still see cloud cover. so only partial clearing at the beaches to day. more high clouds moving through from tropical -- post tropical storm john. that is also going to increase humidity over the u.n. few days. tomorrow morning, as we wake up, we might see some mist and drizzle as we drive along the coast and into san francisco. the fog will spill into parts of the east bay. so highs to day will be really comfortable. lots of sunshine in the south bay. san jose, 86 degrees for you. even mid 90s through morgan hill and gillroy. on the lower peninsula, a

wednesday's jackpot reached $40 million. and the winning numbers from last night ace $22 million super lotto plus -- no one picked all six. wednesday night's prize goes up to $23 million. the salvation army is helping more than 1200 low income students get ready for the new school year. abc 7 news was in san francisco at the salvation army community sent wrer kids a center where kids and families picked up backpacks and filled them with school supplies and books for free. they partner with the city's library, fire department and school district to provide underserved students classroom essentials. >> you know, these families come from a place where it's tough for them to stretch money for even little things like school supplies. and so it really is a blessing for the whole family and kids leave just in wonder and excitement with a lot of joy.
