>> happy making news in america this morning -- omarosa's escalating war with the white house. overnight, president trump responding after his former aide released their taped phone call. what other recordings does she have? flooding emergency, entire towns under water. several inches of rain fell in just hours. >> my grandma! >> one woman's dramatic rescue, with neighbors using sheets to pull her to safety. for the second time in days, a stolen airplane leads to a deadly crash. the latest incident. a man flying a small jet into his own home. this morning, new details about the warning he gave his kids moments before the crash.

four girls putting up a fight after a man tried to kidnap. >> i grabbed my drink and chucked it at his head. >> what else they did to get away. the kid candidate running for governor today. how the 14-year-old got on the ballot. and why a baseball coach is seen putting lettuce in his helmet. good tuesday morning. i'm maggie rulli in for diane macedo. >> and i'm kendis gibson. we're going to start overseas with the big breaking news from london where a car smashed into a security barrier outside the houses of parliament moments ago. injuring, we're told, several pedestrians. these are some of the images that were coming into the abc news newsroom moments after all this. you see the police there swarming that vehicle. of course, there are a lot of police officers in that area of westminster on any given day. detectives say the unidentified man was the only person in the car. it's not known how many

pedestrians were injured. but we are told moments ago, the scotland yard officials are saying that none of the injuries appear to be life-threatening. so, once again, the breaking news from london. they've shut down the immediate area of parliament. the security presence is still very thick there. police are treating it as a terrorist incident. >> we should also note parliament was not in session there on their summer recess right now. but the offices were open. it happened during morning rush hour. obviously a serious situation there. >> as such, there were probably people walking the streets there in the early morning hour there is of london. that is an area that has been the scene of terror. right now, we're not sure exactly what was the reason for this incident. we'll keep an eye on it in london. now to president trump firing back on omarosa calling his former aide deranged and denied her claim that she heard a recording of him using the "n" word. in the same late-night tweet, the president called himself a

true champion of civil rights. >> all of this triggered by the release of omarosa's tell-all book and two conversations that she secretly recorded. arlette saenz has the latest from washington. good morning, arlette. >> reporter: kendis and maggie, good morning. omarosa rose to fame as the villain on "the apprentice." she's now engaged in a very public, real-life feud with the former star of that show, president trump. the war of words between president trump and the woman he once called a loyal friend, omarosa manigault newman, is escalating. on msnbc, the former white house staffer claims she's been contacted by the special counsel. and and if they reach out again, she's willing to share her secret recordings. >> anything mueller would like to see? mr. robert mueller? >> if his office calls again, anything they want, i'll share. >> reporter: she's already released two recordings to nbc news. a conversation she had with chief of staff john kelly as he fired her in the situation room. and another, she claims, is a phone call with the president himself.

>> omarosa, what's going on? i just saw on the news that you're thinking about leaving, what happened? >> general kelly, general kelly came to me and said that you guys wanted me to leave. >> no, nobody even told me about it. >> reporter: the president is lashing out in very personal terms calling her wacky omarosa, adding people in the white house hated her, she was vicious but not smart. >> low life. >> reporter: in her new book "unhi "unhinged," she alleges trump was recorded using the "n" word in the taping of "the apprentice." the president is pushing back, tweeting he talked with the show's creator who told her where there are no tapes. of the apprentice where i used that terrible and disgusting word. i don't have that word in my vocabulary i never have. she made it up. omarosa claims some former aides have received payments of $15,000 a month from the campaign or party accounts.

but those filings don't show if those payments are tied to any nondisclosure agreements, maggie and kendis? >> all right. arlette saenz. the new book is out today, spilling a little bit of tea, according to omarosa. an fbi agent was removed from the investigation sending anti-trump text messages. an investigation found that peter strzok showed unprofessional bias but there was no evidence that he acted on it. the fbi overruled an internal recommendation to suspend and demote strzok, opting, instead, to fire him. his lawyer blamed the decision on political pressure. the question of whether paul manafort will testify in his tax and bank fraud trial could be answered today. the prosecution has rested its case against the president's former campaign manager. the defense hasn't said whether manafort or any other witnesses will testify on his behalf. if not, final arguments could begin as early as today.

lawmakers in west virginia have impeached all four of their state supreme court justices. they're accused of lavish spending including more than $1 million in office renovations. one justice allegedly lied about taking home a $40,000 antique desk and a $30,000 suede couch. they're also charged with overpaying senior judges and taking state vehicles for personal use. also breaking overnight, a utah firefighter has died while battling california's mendocino complex fire. that's the largest fire in the state's history, charring more than 344,000 acres. no word yet on the cause of death. but fire officials say they will investigate. the firefighter was injured and airlifted to the hospital where he later died. he is the sixth firefighter to die this season in california. now, to the relentless rain causing flooding emergencies in the northeast. there have been water rescues across pennsylvania with roads and bridges washed out, leaving

hundreds stranded. and more rain and flooding is in the forecast. this morning, emergencies declared in several states, as persistent rain causes severe flooding. >> my grandma! >> reporter: in upper darby, pennsylvania, a 10-year-old girl can be heard sobbing as her grandmother sits on top of her van, surrounded by nearly five feet of water. >> she can't stand or swim. >> come on, grandma. you can do it. >> reporter: this man jumps into action with neighbors and police officers. they use a human chain and sheets to pull the woman to safety. >> me and another pedestrian, we just helped the little girl get out of the car. a neighbor came over with the sheets. >> reporter: a few blocks over, a police officer had to be rescued, after he got stuck in the sewer. >> the sewer inlet must have collapsed.

and the swirling water took hold, and cut his legs out from under him. and he started to go down in the sewer outlet. >> reporter: in brick, new jersey, eight inches of rain in less than four hours flooding out sections of the town. >> this is crazy. >> reporter: inside this man's house, the floorboards are floating and most of the family belongings, soaked. >> family pictures everything here. mother, father my dog. >> reporter: in westchester county, new york, a 50-foot retaining wall collapsed on to a plumbing business. no one was inside. officials are investigating whether the rain caused the collapse. in baltimore, the storms knocked down power lines. and flooded streets. raging waters trapped this woman in her car. >> the cars were stopped. and then the water started coming in the bottom of my car. and i just had to try to open the doors. and the force of the water was pushing the door, the car door. so i just kept praying and praying. >> the power of mother nature. time now for a look at your weather for this tuesday morning. ♪ >> good morning. we're looking at downpours

becoming plentyous throughout the northeast atlantic, with the heaviest rain targeting some of the biggest cities. in fact, we're watching for widespread risk of flooding, harrisburg, new york, up to albany, just shy of the philadelphia area. and widespread thunderstorms with heavy showers south of omaha throughout a good portion of the heartland. now, for the west, and southwest, rather, seasonal heat. still kicks in for us. we're looking for a hot, smoky condition, with record-challenging heat in the northwest. i'm accuweather meteorologist paul williams. well, coming up, the digital heist that the fbi says is imminent. >> and also ahead. aretha franklin's health battle. what we've learned overnight about her condition. and the tourists that could be in big trouble. why they're facing charges for taking this selfie.

♪ r-e-s-p-e-c-t find out what it means to me r-e-s-p-e-c-t♪ a very young aretha franklin there. the queen of soul singing there in a career that spanned and is spanning some six decades. this morning, the legendary singer, we're told, is getting plenty of respect and a lot of love, as well as thoughts and prayers. franklin's family has reportedly confirmed that the 76-year-old is now gravely ill. franklin has been battling health problems for several years. and has even been rumored to be battling cancer. this morning, she's reportedly resting surrounded by family and close friends. the alleged shooter who invoked florida's stand your ground law in the killing of a black father of three now sits behind bars. surveillance video shows michael drejka shooting markeis mcglockton allegedly over a parking spot. drejka claimed self-defense under florida's controversial stand your ground law. and the sheriff refused to charge him. the prosecutors overruled

the sheriff, charging drejka with manslaughter. the family says the charge should have come sooner. >> michael drejka is a cold-blooded murderer. he took markeis' life. without a second thought. >> this is step one. once we get this guy behind bars for good, or at least 30 years. that's justice for me. >> drejka is set to appear in court today. a candidate for the florida state legislature is apologizing for lying about having a college degree. melissa howard claimed to have graduated from miami university of ohio. the republican candidate said in a facebook post what i did was wrong and set a bad example for someone seeking public service. i am staying in the race and intend to win and lead by example from now on. the fbi is sounding the alarm about a potential worldwide cyberattack on atms. federal officials reportedly

>> reporter: investigators in utah now trying to figure out why 47-year-old duane youd allegedly stole a plane from the company he works for and deliberately crashed it into his own home with family members inside. officials say on sunday, youd was booked on domestic violence charges and made bail. then two hours later, they got the call. >> they've got a house that's fully involved. >> reporter: youd described as an experienced pilot died in the crash. his wife and a child were able to escape. youd's daughter still processing what happened. >> i'm still in a little bit of disbelief. >> are you sure he's not going to hit us? >> reporter: meantime, over the weekend in seattle, another bizarre plane crash. >> i've played video games before so i know what i'm doing a little bit. >> reporter: authorities say richard russell a baggage handler stole a horizon jet from sea-tac airport, managing to take it on a 75-minute joyride before crashing.

>> just a broken guy, whose got a few screws loose i guess. never really knew it until now. >> reporter: russell didn't have a pilot's license and no known experience flying. the fbi says he has no ties to terrorism. airport authorities said he passed federal background checks, even extra security efforts at that airport. authorities are now reviewing recordings from that plane. on how russell was able to steal an airplane at one of the nation's busiest airports. danya bacchus, abc news. los angeles. new details in the investigation of ohio state head football coach urban meyer. the ex-wife of fired assistant zach smith met with the team hired by school truste res on monday. meyer originally denied that he knew about the allegation against that coach. smith was arrest for drunk drin told the school. four young girls in michigan

n hurt after fighting off an alleged attacker. the girls were leaving a convenience store when they say the man started following them and grabbed the youngest girl just 11 years old. the other girls pounced, kicking him and hurling hot coffee at him. the girls say he grabbed another girl by the hair, and the friends came to the rescue once again. >> i grabbed my drink and chucked it at his head. i tried to get -- i punched him in the head. >> kicked, screamed, punched, clawed, threw their hot drinks, their slurpees on him. they did what they had to do. >> the man was arrested a short time later. three people are facing charges over a selfie stunt in alaska. here's a scene that played out in a national park in brooks falls. a man you see him inching dangerously close to bears on a livestream. he then reaches into his pocket and he pulls out a camera. people are required in the park to be at least 50 yards from live bears while they're feeding.

highway. a full closure due to a flipped semi. this flipped over around 2:00 this morning. sounds like it was hauling a trailer full of dirt, so that truck lost its load. there's diesel fuel leaking. not sure about the condition of the driver, but they did send an ambulance to the scene. that means all lanes, both directions of lakeville highway are closed between state route 37 and 116. you can stick to 121 or just use 101 for an alternate. next traffic update in a couple minutes. now a live desk update. >> developing news out of london where police are investigating a car crash outside parliament as an act of terrorism. take a live look here at what's going on outside the parliament building. officers are swarming the area. they have blocked off streets around the building which is in the heart of london. police arrested the driver ate n several pe sy barriers this morning.

they are all expected to be okay. police say the counterterrorism unit is leading the investigation. and you may remember last year, another driver in london sped into crowds on the westminster bridge killing four people. he stabbed and killed a police officer before he was shot outside parliament. happening today, we expect to learn more about the death of a firefighter on the front lines of the mendocino complex fires. he died yesterday battling the ranch fire, the larger of the two infernoes burning across lake, mendocino and culosa counties. he was air lifted to the hospital and died there. the firefighter was from utah. this is the first death related to the mendocino complex. speaking of that fire, it has now burned 349,000 acres. expected containment is september 1st. in yosemite, the ferguson fire has burned more than 96,000 acres, expected containment there is wednesday. >> and the carr fire near
