she was in hospice care surround by family and friends. we have more on franklin's life and legacy. >> aretha franklin didn't just sing notes, she belted them she first wowed the congregation at her father's baptist church in detroit. by the time she was 14 she already recorded her first gospel album. before long she was rock-n-roll royalty. over the next five decades, franklin solidified herself as soul sister number and 20then there was that famou tune about a pink cadillac. ♪ >> ultimately, her signature tune for life was the song where she spelled it all out. rer s-per c-t. >> respect held the top spot on the pop charts for a record too

months, but her gospel roots often pulled her back into the pulpit. as quickly as she made records, she broke her album amazing grace became one of the best selling gospel albums of all time. her soulful voice earned her multiple awards, including more than 20 grammys. she was the first woman ever induct the into the rock-n-roll hall of fame and had the ear of presidents. in '05, she was honored with the medal of freedom from president bush. on january 20ththththththth performed at president barack obama's inauguration ceremony. the emotion and power of her voice earned her the self-named title the queen of soul.

badge where you can post your thoughts to the queen of soul. a bus careened into a ditch happened just before 8:00 on 101 near san ma toy e te'o. the driver says he was driving and the bus veered to the right. he said he tried to regain control but the bus went into a ditch. there were 45 people on board and no one was hurt. what a frustrating morning for b.a.r.t. passengers. three issues led to a cracked track led to a major delay system wide. matt cellar joins us live from the fremont b.a.r.t. station with a reaction from riders. matt. >> reporter: i have some good news. i just talked to the b.a.r.t. spokesperson and she told me there are no more residual delays on b.a.r.t. but that's a little too late for those trying to get to work earlier. b.a.r.t. riders didn't have much of a chance this morning. >> there's no wait. reget up in the morning we think our train's going to be on time and we get here and it's not. >> reporter: three issues combined caused major delays for

b.a.r.t. the biggest started at 4:00 a.m. a cracked track on the hayward lane forpsed a single track until about 6:30. >> it's going to make me late to work. >> reporter: then in downtown oakland around 5:00 a.m., what they call a false occupancy, that means computers report there are trains on the tracks when there are not causing trains to stop. that took about an hour to clear up. and in san francisco debris on the track between civic center and 16th street stations. >> i saw major b.a.r.t. delay i was like oh, my gosh. >> a rough morning but riders left with few options. >> nothing you really can do. if i was mad the train's not going to comeny faster. so we just have to do what we can, we just have to wait. >> reporter: b.a.r.t. told me that cracked track was caused by a micro crack at a bolt hole. they replaced that rail. reporting live here in fremont, matt cellar, abc 7 news.

>> thank you. new this morning, the man accuse of driving recklessness or interstate 80 has posted bail. here's a new mug shot we received earlier of walker. he was scheduled for a 1:30 court appearance this afternoon in salon know county. but abc news confirmed he has posted bail. they say he hit chp officer kirk gris and manuel in fairfield last friday. they both died. here is video of that crash. excuse me, that's not video of the crash but i can tell you that salon know county officials say walker wares driving recklessly at a high speed. here's that crash. they also say that they do have evidence that walker was distracted by his phone at the time of the crash. >> we want the message to be sent that your actions have consequences. that answering a phone or send organize answering a text can result in the tragic consequences that we've witnessed this last week and

that lives can be inalterably changed because of those actions. >> he could face nearly eight years in prison if convicted. >> san mateo police are warning of a ride share paz jer. here's a sketch from police. investigators say the driver picked up the woman in san mateo around highway 92 tuesday night. the victim was found near fashion island boulevard. she told police the man drove her to a secluded area then call theed her. investigators say the attacker was driving a gray four-door car. it's not clear if he had a ride share decal on it. >> we've had obviously investigators working around the clock because we know that, you know, time is very sensitive in this and where he want to make sure there's someone out there that's dangerous, we want to make sure that we get this person before they victimize anyone else. >> and here's another look at the suspect.

he is in his late 30s. police are reminding people double-check your ride share app to ensure the license plate, make, model and color of the car is the actual car assigned to you. and now for an update to the wildfires. the ranch fire is now 69% contained and has burned more than 317,000 acres. the river fire is 100% contained and has burned nearly 49,000 acres. and take a look here that the map showing the updates on the carr firing burning in shasta and trinity counties. it's 71% contained and has burned more than 214,000 acres. the fire, the car fire also killed eight people including firefighter jeremy stoke. a new report says he died after getting trapped in a fire tornado. cal fire says stoke made an emergency call the evening of july 26th saying he was getting burned over and needed a water drop. then the car abruptly stopped.

cal fire says a swirling monster wall of flames and ash swept down on stoke in just seconds. and this video you can see that inferno. search teams did not find stoke's body until the next morning. he was a redding fire inspector. so an experienced firefighter and we've talked a little bit about those fire made nados. >> yes. they burn so intensely hot they can create their own weather patterns. part of reason you see that firenado is because they get up to a thousand degrees fahrenheit. they create a vacuum. what you're seeing in than i tense video is that vacuum getting swirld into an intense tornado. and those winds can run in excess of 100 miles per hour. in fact, the national weather service, they actually went out after this video came out and they estimate that those winds were around 143 miles per hour. that's about equivalent to an

ef-3 tornado or the speed a commercial air liner takes off. we had our own laura anthony, she was on the ground after of that footage came out and look at this. those winds they are so strong that they can uproot trees directly and fall right down on homes nearby. so these tornadoes are very similar to what you would see somewhere in the midwest in the plains with severe weather. but because these fires can move so quickly, those winds can go anywhere from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just a matter of minutes. and that is very scary for firefighters who are on the front lines with that erratic fire behavior. very scary ae in>>hosu don't as uprooting trees, but there you have it. drew, thank you. putting mini vans to the test. see how three popular models fared in head-on crash tests. and also some new twists in the case of of a pregnant

and within just the last hour we have also learned investigators have, indeed, found the body of 34-year-old shanann watts, the pregnant colorado woman reported missing earlier this week. police also believe they do know where the bodies of her two children are located. those children are 4-year-old bella and 3-year-old celeste. an investigation is now underway. we'll bring you any updates as soon as they come in. developing news now, deliberations underway this morning in the fraud trial of former trump campaign chairman paul manafort. prosecutors say he hid millions of dollars from the ira in foreign income that he earned from advising politicians in ukraine. defense lawyers rested their case without presenting a single witness. manafort was charged in question with robert mueller's ongoing investigation into russian interference in the 2016 campaign. fighting illegal dumping in localland. the new initiative that was just rolled out this morning.
