to a 16-year-old girl. he is charged with communicating w a minor for a felony and annoying a minor. authorities now say remains found in new mexico are those of a missing georgia boy found two weeks ago. investigators say the 3 yoerld's father took him to the compound and he died in february. the dad now being held on child neglect charges and new mexico and georgia authorities are accusing him of abducting his son. prosecutors in new mexico say they need more evidence before they can charge anyone in the boy's death. a former tesla employee says the company spied on workers and covered up theft and drug complaints at the giga factory in nevada. carl hanson claims tesla hacked the phones and computers, covered up thefts and hid allegations that an employee was involved in drug trafficking with a mexican cartel. hanson has filed a whistle-blower complaint.

a tesla spokesperson say that is some of the claims are false and others can't be corroborated. the vatican calling the abuse in pennsylvania criminal and morally reprehencible. >> a statement of yesterday, a vatican spokesman said, quote, those acts were betrayals of trust that rob survivors of their dignity and faith. he said the victims should know pope francis is on their side. the president of the u.s. conference of catholic bishops says there will be an established investigation into questions surrounding bishops' accountability. they also plan on opening confidential reporting channels for complaints. a bishop in oakland said he welcomes the initiative and he is disgusted. a dozen former intelligence officials including six former cia directors are among those criticizing president trump's decision to strip the security clearance of john brennan. brennan has been outspoken critic of the president. mr. trump told "the wall street journal" the decision is tied to

welcome back. santa clara could be for a big change. with the november election. the city has been ordered by a judge to scrap its at large voting system and instead use districts. a lawsuit claims the system discriminates against asian americans. a superior court judge agreed but the city is appealing the ruling. santa clara has drawn up a map with six districts just in case. no asian american has ever won a seat in the santa clara council. more than 1,000 google employees have signed a letter of a search enyin to meet china's guidelines. the letter demands company executives review ethics policies as well as transparency and similar to another letter signed in protest of a military contract.

this is called in this morning on bush road. they decided to fight it defensively. firefighters say the metal building houses a fencing company with mixed materials pincluding vehicles. >> on the middle building, we are going to anticipate collapse risk a lot earlier, anticipate we're not going to be able to put personnel ever top of the building. this case a defensive fire from the beginning and wouldn't have put personnel on the roof anyway. >> reporter: firefighters say homeless encampments in the area and don't believe anyone is inside the building and doing a check later on. firefighters will investigate what caused it. right now, a couple of firefighters on top of a ladder gets a good view of what is taking place down below. dark smoke coming up. something is burning inside and they have to take care of that but obviously they have a good view right now and probably put some water on it shortly. reporting live here, matt keller, abc7 news. >> thank you, matt.

police in union city say they have caught a uber driver accused of assaulting a young woman. >> the suspect 30-year-old kevin barillas-saballos worked for uber and police say he was off the clock at the time of the attack. the victim needed a ride home from san francisco so union city last month. she ordered a uber and got into the wrong car. >> he drove up and she got in the vehicle believing that it was her uber. >> police are now warning ride share passengers to double check that they're getting into the right vehicle. yesterday we told you about a separate attack that happened tuesday night in san mateo. police say a woman was sexually assaulted by a man pretending to be a ride share driver. and that man is still on the run. happening today, the attorney for one of the ghost ship fire defendants expected to file a change of venue motion. the effort comes as the district attorney urges the judge to move forward with a trial. this was in a letter leaked ahead of today's hearing. the d.a. said it won't accept

survived. the suspect was caught within 24 hours. he is due back in court next week. wilson's family says he should have been banned from b.a.r.t. following a stop days before for fare evasion. and b.a.r.t. is responding this morning to another wave of thefts aboard trains. according to the media partner, riders reported seven phone thefts within a four-day period last week. two happened at the daly city station, the others occurred at south hayward, bay fair, lake merritt, civic center stations and b.a.r.t. said riders should be aware of suspicious behavior and report crimes on the app. earlier this month, b.a.r.t. announced a $28 million plan to increase security throughout the system. police are looking for a man they say is responsible for at least two robberies. the suspect is wearing a shirt with the word security on the back. and a robbery that happened on july thisth. he threw the cash register on the ground to get it open. police say the same man also

robbed a little caesar's august 6th. new developments with the woman who was paralyzed after getting hit by a falling tree limb and sued the city of san francisco. the chronicle reports there is a tentative settlement with the city agreeing to pay emily zo $14.5 million. the settlement needs the approval of the board of supervisors which meets in september. the woman was watching her children play at washington square park in the year 2016 when a 100-pound limb fell on her breaking her skull and severing her spine cord. if the settlement is approved, the lawsuit is expected to be dropped. san francisco transit officials will review and revise the policy for yvetting contractors. mayor breed made that order after the death of a 51-year-old signal worker working on the twin peak project after the examiner reports the construction company had a history of safety violations. oakland based shimi construction
