manslaughter. he's scheduled to be arraigned on september 12th. a group of sacramento area college students helped detain a man suspected of stealing a chp cruiser and carjacking the students' bus. early this afternoon investigators say a chp officer was talking to a man and another driver after an accident. the man managed to get into the officer's vehicle and drive off. a few minutes later he ditched the chp cruiser for a shuttle bus at sacramento state. ten students on the bus subdued him. police arrived and took him into custody. the trial for two defendants in oakland's deadly ghost ship warehouse fire will likely take place next year, according to their attorneys. derick almena and max harris have been charged with involuntary manslaughter. the judge tossed out a deal previously accepted by another judge, setting the stage for a lengthy trial now. the attorney is filing a motion to move the case out of alameda

own tesla, or on the waiting list from a tesla, how concerned should i be about the state of this company and its ceo? >> it's interesting. i think there's been a lot of talk about the future of tesla and where it's headed. there have been concerns sometimes about their financial performance and whether or not they're able to meet targets, how much money they have in the bank. there are a lot of people following this closely. it's really going to be interesting to see how things shake out. right now, the tesla seems to be on an upswing, reported good numbers in their financials and they are able to meet some of their manufacturing targets. so, you know, i don't know how much we're able to separate tesla the company from elon musk the man. it's really interesting. >> would you buy one today? >> you know, i think there's a lot of questions that people have. and i think when you're buying a tesla, you're not just buying a car, right? you're buying into the silicon valley idea of, you know, the future and whatever that looks like, whether it's, you know, the electronic car, or carbon emission conversation, or even belief in elon musk as a person

to be able to make change in this world. so i think there's a lot more that goes into it than just buying a car. >> i didn't hear a yes or no from you. as an investor, how serious are these concerns, just about elon musk's ability to run the company? he sounds like a guy -- assuming that "the new york times" report is accurate, and this is his state, you know, most of the time, he sounds pretty stressed out. >> this is a tough time for him. and i think, look, i've seen ceos go through really tough times. he's definitely one of those people who clearly is having a really rough year. and some of that is self-imposed. the stuff he's done on twitter, the way that he set targets for the company, that question about whether or not they were able to meet it and then had to strain to get there, all these types of things are going on. it's interesting to see what happens going forward. >> you talked about the tweeting. and in one of the tweets elon musk said he wanted to take tesla private. is that viable? would it be a good thing in the long run to avoid the stress of

the kwaequarterly earnings repo? >> it's funny because you bring this up, president trump tweeted about looking into six-month earnings reports versus quarterly earnings report, every three months, taking strain off companies, but making it less transparent to shareholders. it's interesting, whether i could take the company private, there's a lot of questions about it. it's a lot of money it would take to do that. and there's questions about who would be the people in charge of tesla at that point, right? so i don't know how it's going to play out. i think that's why people are so fascinated with this. it's a corporate drama, not just a company doing its thing. >> real quick, does tesla exist as we know it in five years? >> i think that is the billion dollar question. if i had the answer for that, i'd be making my bets on wall street, not talking here. i think a lot of people really want to know, where is this company headed? a lot of people believe it, but they're worried about what its future is. >> ian, as always, a pleasure to have you in, thanks for coming

elon musk to president trump wants. now a california company says they have a solution that will not only help us get to mars, but perhaps more importantly get back home again. joey rand with our sister station in details. relativity is 3d printing. >> reporter: you heard him correctly, 3d printing rockets. how long did it take to print? >> about seven days, which is crazy fast. actually, the whole rocket we can print in about 60. >> reporter: so a year and a half versus two months to build an entire rocket? >> yeah, exactly. >> reporter: it's a reality that was virtually unthinkable until recently. in fact, the company relativity space was dreamed up only 2 1/2 years ago and took off. >> we actually e-mailed mark cuban to get our first funding. it was a cold e-mail two weeks after saying we're starting the company and he replied back within five minutes. he said all right, here's half a million dollars and we were off.
