5:10. >> as you can see, hundreds of thousands of people every day take b.a.r.t. i'm among them. a lot of people jump the fare gates and b.a.r.t. loses millions of dollars. >> now there's a plan to slow it down. matt keller is live with more on the idea and the cost. >> good morning, jessica and reggie. take a look at the fare gates at the fremont station. it's really easy to hop over them or go around them. if you really wanted to, but how much is too much money to pay to stop that from happening? that's what b.a.r.t. is looking at right now. b.a.r.t. is not allowed to modify the gates because the contractor owns the software. the only solution would be to replace the entire system, and that could cost between $150 million and $200 million. they estimate fare evaders cost the system $25 million a year. batt will conduct a study to determine what it would take to replace the gates and look at what other cities like new york are doing. >> we really want to know what's out there, how much does it

found in the russian river. officials say the 29-year-old san francisco man was reported missing sunday night after friends say he did not show up for dinner while vacationing at a rental home. his friends found his flip-flops and t-shirt on a dock at the edge of the river, and his phone was inside the home. his identity has not been released. >> a short police pursuit ended in crash in san francisco last night. abc 7 news was at biel and bryant streets where the driver of this car was arrested. a view showing all of the rescue crews and damage. police say the jeep hit a toyota echo as well and the driver was taken to the hospital with complaints of pain. the jeep is connected to an earlier auto burglary. you can see san jose firefighters working on a fire that broke out on cafe drive last night. 18 people, including 8 children, are now displaced.

in total, two homes are damaged. that cause is still under investigation. a marin county pastor faces accusations of sexually abusing a woman in his congregation. >> his accuser also worked for him at their church. kimberly and her husband attended the quest church in novato. they turned to pastor joe for guidance when they had marital troubles. kimberly then claims her boss abused the information she shared to make sexual advances at work. >> a trivial example would be, i wanted my husband to be more romantic, so if i had a really hard day with the kids, i want him to draw me a bubble bath. for that week, every day that week, on my desk at work, he would leave a different piece of a bubble bath kit. >> kimberly also accuses everly of forcing her to have an abortion against her will after their relationship became physical. everly was not available when abc 7 asked him for a comment. >> the search for a san jose man

reported missing in yosemite national park has come to a tragic end. the body of hiker scott tenczar was found in the northeast region of the park. the 48-year-old was considered an experienced hiker. he was last seen july 25th. the cause of death still under investigation. in the north bay, a car thief apparently had a change of heart after realizing who was in the back seat. santa rosa police say the thief took this mercedes-benz yesterday. the car was left running and an 18-month-old child was in the back seat. ten minutes after the theft, police say the suspect drove back to the scene and surrendered. the child was not hurt. police booked stephon salazar on theft and kidnapping charges. an armed man who threatened san jose police is now in custody following a four-hour standoff. abc 7 news was on with officers following the standoff. police went to the home on a

46 trains in service, no delays. and so far so good for capitol corridor. >> we're waiting to hear if prosecutors will officially tie the man accused of being the golden state killer to sex assaults in contra costa county. >> a news conference this morning should also reveal where the trial will take place. abc 7 news reporting amy hollyfield is live in martinez. >> jessica, people who lived here in the east bay in the '70s and '80s probably remember the string of rapes that happened in that time. it's long been believed the golden state killer could have been responsible for those rapes. and today, the district attorney here is signaling that maybe charges will be filed in those cases. the district attorney, diana beckten, is set to appear at a press conference in santa anna this morning about the golden state killer case. up to this point, no charges from contra costa county have been filed against the man accused of being the golden state killer. interesting that she's going to be there.

72-year-old joseph deangelo faces 13 murder charges for killings that happened across the state in the '70s and 'iates. x ilsacren. speak today. and announce where they plan to hold the trial or trials. and if they are filing new charges. investigators have long thought that he is responsible for more than 50 rapes, including 9 here in contra costa county. this office here in martinez had no comment. that press conference is set for 11:00 this morning. live in martinez, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> thank you, amy. >> we're going to send out a push alert when the news conference starts. you can get that and news on the golden state killer by downloading the app and enablin secretly recorded at least one conversation between a juvenile crime suspect and his attorney. >> this according to the chronicle, video of a conversation between two sheriff's officials suggest the

practice has happened multiple times. a sergeant hints he's been doing it since january at the eden township substation in san leandro. the alameda county public defender's office laid out the allegations in a court filing yesterday. the sheriff's office tells abc 7, we are very aware of the incident and are doing an internal review of all incidents who met with assistant public defenders at our substation. >> the alameda county sheriff's office is asking for your help to find a missing woman. they shared these photos of 54-year-old juanita robinson. she was last seen on wednesday leaving her home on 149th avenue in san leandro in her white dodge caravan. if you have any information, you're asked to contact the alameda sheriff's office. >> in the south bay, an apartment complex is getting redeveloped forcing dozens of families from their homes. the tht woulde

that's according to preliminary cal fire report. battalion chief matthew burche it t was one of 37 firefighters from utah called to northern california to help containory wildfires. the report calls for immediate action, saying firefighters need to stay clear of areas with overhead hazards when there's an air drop. burchett's funeral was held in his home state yesterday. thousands of family members and colleagues said good-bye to the father and husband. >> a uc berkeley professor has been suspended for three years without pay for sexually harassing a graduate student. >> they say the professor engaged in a pattern of sexual harassment that created what they're calling a hostile environment. abc 7 news asked uc berkeley chancellor about the case. she would not address it specifically, saying that in doing so, it would violate confidentiality of the procedures. she did talk about the university's position regarding
