the 60s at noon, 60s at the coast, the rest of us in the 70s at 4:00. latest on lane, weakening but not fast enough. here's alexis. >> good morning. taking you back out to the tracy area where we are seeing a decent backup already this morning. westbound 205 to 580 the grant line road off ramp blocked for roadwork until 5:00 today. i think that is adding to those typical delays. you're averaging about 10, 15 miles an hour getting out of tracy. i know that's kind of become the norm, unfortunately. and a live look outside, here's walnut creek, southbound 680 no delays there, slowly starting to fill in. we have delays due to roadwork on westbound 80 in the richmond area. >> thank you, alexis. happening now, hurricane lane, barreling toward the hawaiian islands. >> authorities are warning the storm is life threatening. hurricane warnings are now posted for the state's most populated areas, including honolulu. the storm's track over the next 24 hours is crucial as people on the islands prepare for possible mandatory evacuations.

abc 7 news reporter kendis gibson has the latest. >> the islands are bracing for the worst. >> i would be happy to be able to say it was another near miss. that doesn't seem likely with the trajectory that's coming now. >> reporter: hurricane lane barreling through the pacific with winds approaching 150 miles an hour. making it one of the powerful hurricanes to ever get this close to the islands. >> we're very scared. we're just going to make the most of it. >> reporter: the massive hurricane seen here from space, prompting hurricane warnings for the big island, maui and now oahu. >> we have to take it seriously and we're working together at this point to make sure we plan for the worst and hope for the best. >> reporter: the u.s. navy moving ships and submarines as state officials prepare for evacuations. up a public schools in the state are closed today and tomorrow to prepare buildings as evacuation centers. lane could produce 20-foot waves and dump up to 20 inches of

planned the 7 on your side team says you can rebook for free. if the airline cancels your flight you can get your money back. w have information at abc7news.com. go to the 7 on your side page. happening today the suspect in the golden state killer case is due back in court in sacramento. the sacramento superior court. 72-year-old joseph deangelo is scheduled to be arraigned on 13 charges in the now consolidated case. on tuesday prosecutors filed new allegations tied to sexual assault cases in sacramento and contra costa counties. those charges are now combined with the 13 murder charges already filed in santa barbara, orange, ventura, and sacramento counties. orange county's d.a. says more charges could come. he will be prosecuted in sacramento county but it could concern about public safety

after yet another burglary in san jose's willow glen neighborhood. a town hall meeting set for next thursday will likely address what happened yesterday morning. police arrested a man and woman accused of burglarizing a home on california avenue. someone was home and saw the burglars and ran and got into a vehicle and drove police say they ran from officers jumping fences when police told neighbors to go on lockdown. kelly was at home with her two young boys. >> mommy, why are you locking the doors and shut the windows and made up a story about helicopters and just tried to like mitigate what could be going. >> police caught the suspected burglars. it's not clear why willow glen vasis and burglaries. his wavet in the east bay, contra costa county health officials trying to track down people who may have been exposed to measles. a person infected went to the

john muir emergency room in walnut creek on saturday, august 11th, between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. three days later on august 14th, that person ate at a restaurant in lafayette between 9:00 and 11:00. the health department has found everyone at the er but don't know how many people were at the restaurant when the infected person was there. and back to the south bay, santa clara county and san jose will get almost $2.5 million to repair flood damage. that includes damage done by the massive coyote creek flooding in february 2017. three san jose neighborhoods were submerged in water for almost a week. 11,000 people were evacuated. congresswoman lovegren says it comes from a federal grant preside. you are never more than seven minutes away from my accuweather forecast. back to the live doppler, zoomed on the big island and let me put it into motion over the last six hours.

you can see walls of water, waves of showers if you will roaming in and that's why this area is under fla flood warning. just about the northern, eastern and southern part of the big island. the lighter green for the western part of the big island and the rest of the islands a flash flood watch. the warning means it's happening and people have to take precaution now and seek higher shelter. flash flood watch means it's possible. be prepared if a warning comes out and know what to do. hurricane warning extended since the last time we talked to include oahu. hurricane watch to the west means winds are possible of at least 39 miles per hour within the next 48 hours. here's a look at it, starting to take a jog to the north and it's not weakening as fast as we hoped. still 145-mile-per-hour category 4 storm. look how it heads up towards the big island and then thankfully makes a left-hand turn and you can see the influence will be in the flooding rain, the dangerous surf, the high waves at 20 feet or more, and the flooding that's

going to be out there all the way through about saturday morning and into the evening hours. things will start to take off. if you have plans to be there after saturday everything should be okay. there will be damage, but it won't be widespread. >> okay. yeah, definitely a scary situation though. >> it is for those folks. something they haven't had to deal with in a long time. >> during now to traffic, we don't have any major incidents this morning, but we have roadwork that's slowing us down. to the richmond area, we've got grinding and paeving -- paving work until 5:00, between san pablo dam road and central avenue that has various lanes closed and you are heavy through that richmond stretch. four miles an hour up to 14 miles an hour once you make it closer to el cerrito. plan on delays if you are going to be heading through that stretch in the next 20, 30 minutes or so. everyo and we're not seeing major visibility issues today either. a look at drive times coming up next. he has run miles for sexual abuse

field offices. the director jean shiomoto says relief is on the way. she visited with staff at the driver's license processing center in san jose yesterday as part of her ongoing effort to evaluate field offices and processing centers around the state. last week she was grilled by lawmakers who questioned why the agency's wait times have skyrocketed in the past year. she blames the delays on the high volume of customers coming to apply for real i.d. and acknowledges problems with the department's decades old computer system. shiomoto hopes to modernize it in the next four years. >> we're looki w can offer more transactions on-line. we're looking to see how long that would take or if there are any policy concerns on that. >> the dmv says wait times should start dropping by mid-september and hopefully become more reasonable by the end of the year. he started his runisin extreme athlete ran across

crime tape and police officers. there are two crime scenes that they are working here. one, next to the station out on warm springs boulevard and then here inside the station right here at the front door of the warm springs station. police say they got the call at 2:30 this morning that someone had been stabbeded. they found the victim. they say he was alive but taken to the hospital. we talked to commuters about this this morning and how unnerving it is to see all of this given how much bart safety has been in the news lately, how much it's been talked about and the fact that 18-year-old nia wilson was stabbed to death on a bart platform just last month. >> it's an unfortunate occurrence and unfortunately it seems like it happens more and more. i do -- i've seen more officers,
