where he spokend w students. >> reporter: eric and dion lim, many still scared about the shooting last night that happened near campus which left a teenager dead. and today many were able to return to campus to retrieve the belongings they were forced to leave behind when the stadium was evacuated. >> it was terrifying. >> reporter: karen duff was working in the concession stand right before kickoff of the game when chaos unfolded. >> people started running into the concession stand saying that the school was on lockdown and that there was gunfire. > reporter: karen's son justin is a jv player. he was on the field. >> we just had the anthem and then kickoff. then it was like three pops. >> reporter: it was gunfire coming from nearby washington street and belle avenue. police called it a gun battle. >> there were multiple shooters. it appeared the groups were shooting at each other. >> reporter: sky map 7 shows how

students here at armio. on monday counselors will be available. cornell bernard, abc7 news. new details on the unsolved deadly shooting on the bay bridge. chp says it has new video evidence and released this photo showing the suspect's vehicle. you see it on the left-hand side of your screen. witnesses say it's a kia sportage. august 6th, darnl stinnett junior was shot and killed on the eastbound span just before the tunnel. two people with him were injured. >> a car slammed into the back of a fire truck in san jose injuring about two people to on southbound highway 101 near coyote creek. firings were responding to an accident when a black tes las rear ended o trucks. the two pasnginhe tesla were taken to the hospital. investigators are looking into whether the tesla's autopilot feature was on at the time. >> developing news now in hawaii it, lane has been downgraded from a hurricane to a tropical

storm but still dumping a lot of rain. this nasa image shows the then hurricane lane weakening here hawaii. this is what it looked like a few hours ago in waikiki. not exactly an idea counsel beach day. you can see the high surf and palm trees blowing in the wind. the big island has seen 40 inches of rain. all that water has triggered flooding and landslides with debris swamping neighborhoods. >> it's just the volume of water it couldn't hold it. i've never seen that before. then the small bridge plugged up above. that flooded all of these houses. >> lane's slow pace means more rain is expected through the weekend. abc7 news meteorologist drew tuma joins with us a look where the storm is currently. drew? >> you said that right. more rain is forecasted even though lane is weakening at this hour. a tropical storm. winds of 50 miles an hour, about 150 miles away from honolulu. we take you into the future. you notice lane does pull away

muni metro station where light rail trains entered and exited for the first time since june. muni replayed rail and key systems inside the tunnel. many people rode shuttle buses and navigating other detours. >> i'm excited. it was really inconvenient to have all the street closures. >> they'll see a little quicker trip through the tunnel. the speed is up. it will be -- should be a smoother ride. >> muni finished the project on time to restore full service on the klm and t metro lines. >> in the east bay, people took part in a bulky block party in an effort to keep their city clean. abc news was in east oakland where neighbors had a chance to dump large bulky items for free. the event featured food trucks and music. people got help unloading items. two other bulky block party events are planned in oakland

next month. crews are cutting down trees in berkeley due to the threat they could fall on their own. abc7 news was at university and mcgehee avenue where seven businesses and three homes are under an evacuation order because of the threat. a city spokesperson tells berkeley side three trees must come down because of their condition paired with excavation work in the area for newhousing. > i'm a bay area resident and i think having more housing is important. so that we all can afford to live here. on the other hand, it always makes me sad when i come by and see a tree being cut down. >> yesterday, crews were able to remove one of the six redwoods that were deemed unsafe. san francisco's newest hospital will forever be a special place for one family. >> being the first little patient was really sweet and special. >> up next, a tiny patient who made hospital history in more

it was moving day for a san francisco hospital. abc7 news was at suter health's new cpmc vernal campus right across from the old building and features 120 rooms with lots of upgrades. besides adding new technology, there's space for families to spends the night with loved ones. >> the room we were in was built in 1957. and we really just needed a change. we needed to make sure the building was safe and up to all the new regulations for hospitals. >> you're looking at a little bit of history.

more now on breaking news. it's the san mateo bridge. you can see it is just stopped on the left side of your screen. a deadly accident on the heyward side is backing traffic all the way across the bridge at least eight miles into foster city. it takes about 90 minutes or more to cross the span right now. the accident is in the eastbound direction just past the toll plaza. traffic jammed up since about 3:00. you can get the latest information on there of course on our website at abc7news.com and if you download our abc7 news app. there you can see the red line there. that is the backup traffic on the san mateo bridge because of that accident. if you can, avoid it. another option might be to go
