of its most popular games. they released a statement last night that says, this tragic situation that occurred sunday in jacksonville was the senseless act of violence we strongly condemn. our most heartfelt sympathies go out to the families of the victims whose lives were taken today and those injured. competitve gamers are reacting with shock about the shooting. jason lake says one of their gamers was injured. competitive gamer nate kristi says this is a sport and like any, some can get carried away by the intensity of the game. >> i do see some competitors get a little salty, that's what the term is we use, usually ask them to stand outside, come back when you're ready, but cool off. >> cool off basically. that's basically it. >> reporter: a lot can be at stake at these tournaments. competitors often travel across country. gaming tournaments can offer

cash prizes to the winners. matt keller, abc news. >> thank you. 4:31. just joining us get a quick update on weather and traffic. >> we're going to start with mike. good morning. >> let's take a look at the winds. that's going to be the big story today. look at them gusting to 16 in concord and 32 in fairfield. the gray overspreading about all of our neighborhoods and it will get there if it's not in your neighborhood yet. here's a look at what's going on as far as our forecast for today. the accuweather 12-hour planner, we have mid to upper 50s under cloudy conditions, low 60s at the coast, around 70 for all of us at noon and then low to upper 70s this afternoon. here's alexis. >> good morning, mike. we do have a travel advisory in the north bay. sounds like this started before 10:00 has night, a crash took down power poles and power lines are down on state route 116. the eastbound side is closed

near northwood lodge east of there. the westbound side is open in the gerneville area. i did see a little yellow a few minutes ago. looks like that traffic was released. that certainly could back up significantly once we get further into the morning commute. golden gate bridge, not seeing fog, visibility not an issue and that north bay commute for the most part looking good happening today, counselors will be on hand at the high school in fairfield after a shooting near the campus killed a 16-year-old and put the school on lockdown. >> police identified the victim as omar willis, an 18-year-old was insured. the shooting happened just after 5:00 friday night right before kickoff of the jv football game. police arrested one suspect who was hiding in the school's gymnasium. officers found a second suspect at a house nearby this is the man police think stabbed another passenger at the macarthur bart station saturday

night. these are new images from surveillance cameras. the victim was cut on his thumb. the suspect was last seen running from the station. of course, the mcarthur bart %-pn an unprovoked attack last month. her sister was also stabbed and she survived. the suspect john lee cowell could face the death penalty if he is convicted. in the east bay an hours long standoff ended with an arrest. new video shows the tense situation outside a home in antioch. according to our media partner "the east bay times" police responded to reports of a domestic dispute. they were told a man hit and threatened a family member before barricading himself in the home. police brought in a crisis intervention team after learning the suspect could be armed and he did surrender nearly two and a half hours later

the senator died saturday after a battle with brain cancer. former presidents george w. bush and also former president obama are scheduled to be there. wednesday, what would have been his 82nd birthday he will lie in state. there will be a memorial service in phoenix on thursday and friday senator mccain will lie in state at the u.s. capitol. on saturday a private national memorial service at washington national cathedral. we learned this morning that president trump nixed issuing a statement praising heroism and life of senator mccain. according to the "washington post" press secretary sarah sanders and chief of staff john kelly pushed mr. trump to issue an official statement lauding mccain for his military and senate service and wanted the president to say he was a hero. instead, president trump opted for a short tweet saying, my deepest sympathies and respect go out to the family of senator john mccain, our hearts and prayers are with you we have new the deals on a

crash involving a tesla and san jose fire truck. we learned officers arrested the driver for dui. investigators say michael tran slammed into the back of the fire truck early saturday morning. fire crews responded to another crash near coyote creek. tran told an officer he thought he had autopilot on. investigators have not determined if the car was in self-driving mode. they treated him and his passenger for minor injuries. in the east bay, firefighters stopped flames from a fast-moving grass fire from reaching buildings. abc 7 was on interstate 580 as smoke rose above castro valley. the fire broke out near paolo verde road. the fire department said it burned 48 acres before they had it contained. >>s are getting ctr of the two major wildfires still burning in northern california. the ranch fire 67% contained

this morning and burned 402,000 acres of land and the largest fire in state history. cal fire still expects to have the ranch fire fully contained by next week. the carr fire and the redding area 96% contained and has burned more than 229,000 acres and destroyed more than a thousand homes. the fire is one of the most destructive in state history. cal fire still isn't sure when it will get full containment you are never more than seven minutes away from my accuweather forecast. here's a look at walnut creek and our air quality is good to moderate right now and that's where it's supposed to stay all day today. however, knocking on our fringes, look at this towards the eastern parts of contra costa and alameda county into the central valley, tracy and stockton, poor air quality today. it's going to be very close to us. and i think we'll still have a touch of haze in the air like we have had the last couple days, even though our air should be

clean. this air quality warning goes until 11:45 tomorrow morning. once you get over the altamont pass or through discovery bay watch out. not very good out there. temperatures around 57, 58, just about everywhere in san francisco. we got sunset at 56 the exception. temperatures in the upper 50s to low 60s. santa clara at 55 and about 58 in healdsburg. south bay, the commute ran into drizzle across the bay bridge, did not need the windshield wipers but you may. for mist we put driving in the caution category. calm and comfy on the ferry ride. no small craft advisory there and we're watching the air and mass transit, especially the farther east you head. we'll look at the micro climates coming up. let's see what's going on for the monday morning commute. >> maj delays. that's good news. we are looking live at walnut creek, southbound 680 slowly starting to see the volumes fill

welcome back. new this morning new research finding most people will not benefit from taking low aspirin to prevent a first heart attack or stroke. aspirin is known to cut the chances of another heart attack, stroke or another heart problem in people who have already had one. researchers tested whether aspirin could prevent a first heart attack or stroke in people with diabetes or other health threats like smoking or high blood pressure. the good that aspirin did was

outweighed by a greater risk of serious bleeding head's up to those who ride bart we came off a track closure over the weekend and get ready for another one. here's a look from abc 7 news reporter katie utehs. >> shuttle bus, 19th street. >> reporter: with the help of guides people navigated the bus bridge between the 19th street and west oakland stations. >> it was insane. it was like sardines. >> reporter: saturday's shutdown of the busy east bay hub caught some off guard but on sunday riders took it in stride. >> it's expected to add to their repairs and stuff. it's the way it goes. >> reporter: bart is repairing and upgrading a section of track near the west oakland bart station. in this video taken by bart, switchers being replaced and they change the direction of the trains. 4,000 feet of trail is being swapped and wooden railroad ties are being upgraded to concrete. >> keeping the tracks up to date and that's the important thing, keeping everything safe for bart. that's healthy for all of us. >> reporter: the goal for the new section to last another 40 to 50 years.

i'll say vallejo down to the san mateo bridge. not going to completely clear out. we will have clouds there and definitely going to be cloudy along the coast and you can see by 3:00, we start to roll on back in and then by 7:00, yep, we're starting to get cloudy again for another night of cool temperatures, cloudiness and the potential for drizzle near the coast. we've got mid to upper 70s in the south bay today until you get to los gatos and morgan hill and gilroy. low 70s for the peninsula. along the coast because of the grayness, 60 to 61 for you. 64 in downtown san francisco. below average, we should be around 69 this time of year. low to mid 70s for the north bay. head up farther the mid 80s around lakeport. upper 60s for richmond, berkeley and oakland and low to mid 70s elsewhere. inland how about temperatures in the upper 70s to 80 the accuweather seven-day forecast it's going to be cooler tomorrow with a little more drizzle in the morning. i see no sign of heat with temperatures in the 60s, 70s and

80s. this can't last. when are we going to pay for this? >> i keep waiting to hear when it's coming. i am not complaining. we are looking live at the bay bridge toll plaza where yes, we have a stack up in the cash lanes on either side but fast track no issues and those metering lights not on yet. that should happen around 5:25. we'll let you know as soon as we get official word. one significant slow down due to a crash, a rollover collision, past the truck scales in the cordelia area. the two left lanes are blocked and you're jammed beyond state route 12 in the fairfield stretch there. that is about a 15-minute delay trying to get more information on how long this will be blocking. next traffic update coming up just before 5:00. >> thank you. amazon is taking to twitter to improve its reputation. even paying employees full time to say good things about it on-line. according to business insider there are at least 13 amazon employee accounts on twitter.

gas prices are expected to drop slightly. the national average price of a gallon of gasoline has gone two cents a gallon over the last two weeks to $2.91. industry analysts say refineries have increased capacity and current demand is lower. here in the bay area is much higher than the national average. a gallon of regular costs $3.63 in san jose, $3.65 in oakland and $3.76 in san francisco. in the east bay, hundreds of school kids are getting a good start to the school year thanks to an army of volunteers. abc 7 was in berkeley this weekend where volunteers assembled more than $195,000 worth of school supplies for deserving children. >> they get to start their school year out on the right foot and hopefully will enable them to do well in school and go
