might want to grab a light jacket. no fog at the golden gate bridge this morning. maybe we'll see a little more sunshine than yesterday but not much. temperatures still going to be well below average with 60s at the coast into san francisco, low to mid 70s around the bay and mid 70s to 80 degrees inland. the accuweather seven-day forecast coming up. here's alexis. >> good morning, mike. i'm trying to remember the last time we didn't have fog on golden gate. it has been a while, that's for sure. we do have early trouble spots in particular westbound 80 getting into the cordelia area, rollover crash blocking the two left lanes past the truck scales and you are backed up past state route 12 into the fairfield stretch. seven miles an hour, 11 miles an hour is adding about 15, 20 minutes to your trip. not giving any estimate on when as mike mentioned, maybe a little mist or drizzle on your windshield into the san francisco area, but no significant delays if you are traveling from the east bay across the bay bridge. i have more good news for commuters in san francisco this morning, the twin peaks tunnel

is back open after being shut down this summer for repairs. abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield is live with more. hi, amy. >> hi, alexis. i'm happy to show you one of the firsts trains to be going through on this monday morning. it just dipped -- got in there. see it just slipped in. this is at the new twin peaks tunnel. it's now open. it's quiet right now. the station agent tells me the rush hour is between 6:00 and 9:00 this morning. that's when we will see happy riders today. the tunnel did open on saturday but this is the first time commuters are getting to use it. the twin peaks tunnel was closed in june for construction. riders spent the whole summer riding shuttle busses around the closed area. muni used the time to replace all the rails and other key systems in this very old tunnel. it's about 100 years old. they say riders should notice a difference this morning.

>> they'll see a little quicker trip through the tunnel. the speed is up. it will be a -- should be a smoother ride with the new track and particularly with the newer trains should be a quieter ride. we're very pleased to have done it. >> reporter: commuters say it was an inconvenience over the summer deal with this. this is the tunnel trains use to get between the castro and west portal. commuters will be very happy to have it back. live in san francisco, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> thank you, amy. a high-speed chase across the san mateo bridge. you're going to watchs three patrol cars chase a vehicle on westbound i-92 that began around 11:30 in hayward. the chp telling us the driver eventually headed on to southbound 101 and stopped in east palo alto. we're working to find out why the chase began we're learning one of the victims in the florida shooting rampage is a former high school

football player from southern california. the calabasas high school football twitter account shared this photo of elijah clayton. he was killed during a madden nfl tournament in jacksonville yesterday. meanwhile the suspected gunman, 24-year-old david katz, from baltimore, maryland, is also dead bringing the total to three people killed. police say he turned the gun on himself. the "l.a. times" reports katz was eliminated from the competition and then shot multiple people. 11 others were hurt. investigators were seen searching the home of the suspected shooter in baltimore. witnesses reported seeing heavily armed fbi and atf agents escorting a man and woman. an fbi spokesman confirmed agents went to the home but did not release any other details. family members identified 8 children and teenagers who died in a fire yesterday morning in chicago. all of them are 16 and younger including a 3-month-old. two other teens are critically

injured. relatives say there was a sleepover saturday night and the victims are from at least two familieses. firefighters are praising a woman for, quote, saving a lot of lives by alerting neighbors to get out and calling 911. today marks two months since a hit-and-run crash that killed a san francisco pedicab prater. loved ones gathered to honor kevin manning as police search for the person responsible for his death. kate larson spoke to the victim's family. ♪ >> reporter: two months since her dad was hit, and seven weeks since he died. >> a lot of people want justice for my dad and i do as well. >> reporter: she is keeping her father's memory and the investigation into his death alive. >> he was giving and selfless and just his -- just even what he was doing when this was bik

>>reporter: june 27th kevin was shuttling tourists down the embarcadero in his pedicab when a car hit his bike flowing him on to the pavement. police released this video, a gold honda civic weaving through traffic towards the bay bridge after the wreck. >> everybody has to go at one moment but the way that it happened is, you know, very painful. it could have been avoided. >> i came to the hospital the day he passed. that was the tragedy when we found out he couldn't heal from his injuries. >> reporter: vince brown met kevin at college in oakland 40 years ago best friends until the day kevin passed. vince with hundreds of others spent the day eulogizing kevin. >> never expected anything back in return. ♪ >> reporter: but vince, and others do expect that kevin's death will not ben. >> he didn't deserve that. the person who did that should

have definitely stopped and connected on a human level. >> reporter: she tells me she's trying to raise money to build protected bike lanes here along the embarcadero to prevent any future tragedies. in san francisco, i'm kate larson, abc 7 news. in the east bay, uc berkeley police searching for a man caught on video breaking into two vehicles on campus. police released these surveillance photos hoping someone will recognize them. the first break in happened yesterday around noon. the suspect seen smashing the window of a car parked in the building parking lot. less than two hours later police say the same person broke into a vehicle parked in the underhill parking lot. that suspect drove off in a tan 1998 nissan pathfinder suv women can have a bigger say in how california based companies are run if a bill passes this week. the state assembly set to discuss a measure requiring women on the board of directors and already passed the state senate. supporters say women in leadership roles can ensure

greater protections against problems like sexual harassment. critics say this violates the constitution and can be challenged on equal protection grounds. bloomberg reports there are more than 450 publically traded companies in california. women hold less than 16% of board room seats. you are never more than seven minutes away from my accuweather forecast. oh, foggy august rolls on once again and you can see it hovering above san francisco. as we look from the exploratorium camera at pier 15, 58 degrees right now. a little breeze over the golden gate bridge hitting you sideways but nothing you're not used to around 10 to 15 miles per hour. not too aggressive and we will see sunshine today like we did yesterday. it's going to take a while for it to roll back to the coast. emeryville looking northbound all the way along 80 there and you can see it's not too foggy and sfo is going to have arrival delays but they usually don't let us know until about 6:00.

westbound walnut creek to highway 13 another 8. tracy to dublin in the red at 52 minutes new this morning, a crackdown on drunk drivers. vallejo police handed out 20 tickets. it screened hundreds of vehicles as part of a national drive sober or get pulled over campaign. in addition to the 20 citations officers conducted three field sobriety tests and impounded eight cars. the campaign cracking down on drunk driving runs through labor day weekend the california highway patrol is talking marijuana today. the agency is hosting a summit in dublin that will look into the impact marijuana has on impaired driving. chp has been making an effort to ainaw influence.le pot may be today's event is open to the public at the alameda county office of emergency services san francisco's conservatory

a powerful eulogy saying she is nobody's victim, a response to those trying to politicize her death. alex perez has more in today's "gma" first look. >> in the "gma" first look, 20-year-old mollie tibbetts laid to rest as hundreds gather in the small iowa town for the funeral service at the high school including her father rob saying his daughter's whole life was about serving her family and friends and sharing that when he re 3years there the brooklyn, wasn't a hispanic community and iowa is now better for it adding they have great values and beliefs and i have grateful for them. his comment in stark opposition to political attacks over immigration policy after cristhian rivera was charged with her murder. the high school football team is honoring her memory wearing their initials on her helmets and jerseys. a live report at 7:00 a.m. with

your "gma" first look i'm alex perez, brooklyn, iowa. playwright neil simon who dominated broadway for decades has died. he passed away at a hospital in manhattan. he suffered complications from pneumonia. in a second half of the 20th century, simon was the american theater's most successful and prolific playwright chronicling fears. his odd couple play ran more than 900 performances before becoming a hit movie and also beloved tv series. simon was the recipient of four tony awards, pulitzer prize and kennedy center honors among others. he was 91 years old tropical storm lane retreating from hawaii not before it caused mayhem on the big island. >> that's a boulder tumbling down the highway in the area over the weekend. both lanes of the road were

this afternoon. even with some afternoon sunshine, the typical roll back to the coast as we head towards lunch and looks like this is going to be the case the next several days. there's no summer heat. it's missing. expect overcast conditions at night and areas of mist closer to san francisco and the coast like we have this morning. see how stout the sea breeze is. look at the low-lying clouds into the central valley and still hanging around most of the bay by noon. we'll get a couple hours free of the clouds, but then by 3:00, 4:00, they start marching to the east and get ready to bring us another gray and cool night. great sleeping weather now that we have the cleaner air. mid to upper 70s for the southbound, los gatos and morgan hill and gilroy. not much warmer in millbrae, low 70s. we'll flirt with low to mid 60s along the coast and downtown, sausalito, up through the north bay coast. inland we'll be about 10 to 15 degrees warmer with low to mid 70s. along the east bay show, low to

mid 70s, richmond, berkeley and oakland, and our last stop our east bay valleys, never wanted to get an electric bill so much as the one for this month. haven't had to run the air conditioner much at all. my accuweather seven-day forecast, stout sea breeze, more stout tomorrow that means we're going to be cooler and notice we stay well below average. some neighborhoods should have highs in the 90s, just not happening. >> no complaining over here, mike. you know that. unfortunately we do have a new commuter alert to talk about. we just got word from bart that e-bart between antioch and pittsburgh/pay point stations having an equipment problem. this is a switching issue. we did talk to bart. the delay in the sfo direction, but they're saying it is isolated to e-bart. i don't think this is going to impact the rest of the bart system. keeping a close eye on this. for now it is impacting those folks trying to get out of the antioch area. i will certainly give you an update as soon as we have more information on that.

in the meantime good news for folks in the cordelia stretch past the scales, the rollover crash has cleared. we have about a 20-minute delay lingering there. we are getting much busier here at the bay bridge toll plaza. as of right now we have not gotten official word the metering lights are on. >> thank you. happening today, a pedestrian bridge near an east bay high school is set to reopen in just under an hour after being closed for about a month. the bridge connects the iron horse regional trail with mango drive next to california high school in san ramon. students traveling between the school and neighborhoods near coyote creek often use the bridge. the bridge has been closed since late july for repairs. also high-speed rail between los angeles and the bay area could add billions more to the cost of the projects. the "l.a. times" reporting to hit its 2033 deadline and $77 billion budget, officials will have to increase daily spending

by up to nine times over the next four years. if the target date is missed, inflation will reportedly raise the cost of the projects by as much as $2 billion a year. spending has increased this year after the rail authority approved the system you might want to check your fringe cargill is recalling thousands of pounds of ground beef. the company says it may be contaminated with e. coli. a look at the labels, the recall is for ten-pound packages made on august 16th. the use or freeze by date is september 5th. so far there are no reports of anyone getting sick. if you have this meat at home you can return it for a refund a new warning against women using marijuana while pregnant or breastfeeding. the american academy of pediatrics recommend doctors advise patients of child bearing age to abstain from pot. a new study to be published in next month's issue of

number one, the suspected gunman in the mass shooting at a video game tournament in florida is dead. police believe 24-year-old david katz killed two people before turning the gun on himself. >> number two, counselors will be on hand at a high school in fairfield after a shooting that killed a 16-year-old and put the school on lockdown friday. police arrested two suspects number three, right now planning is under way to remember arizona senator john mccain. there will be a memorial service in phoenix on thursday and then on saturday there will be a private national memorial service at the national cathedral number four, today is the first weekday commute with the twin peaks tunnel in san francisco back open after two months of major construction. crews replaced all of the rail and other key systems inside that 100-year-old tunnel. >> number five, an issue with mass transit for the monday morning commute. we've got at least a 20 minute delay, a major delay, between antioch and pittsburgh in the sfo direction due to a switching problem on the track.

the sponsor and company of the video game company in florida is here in the bay area. >> ea sports responded to the shooting and so have a number of gamers who the competitions can get. abc 7 news reporter matt keller is live in redwood city. matt? >> reporter: good morning, jessica and reggie. ea sports is in redwood city. the madden football game is one of its most popular games. the company released a statement last night and said the tragic situation that occurred sunday in jacksonville was a senseless act of violence that we strongly condemn. our most heartfelt stympathies o out to the victims. shock about the shooting, complexity gaming founder jason lake sa lakes says one of the gamers was injured. >> he was playing when shots started to ring out and he believes that person next to him was actually shot. he got shot and grazed his thumb. he is not severely injured,

thank god. he ran out of the building, down the street. >> reporter: now a lot could be at stake at these tournaments. competitors travel across country to participate. competitive gamer nate kristi says this is a sport and some gamers can get carried away by the intensity of the game and when that happens some are asked to step outside to cool off. reporting live in redwood city, matt keller, abc 7 news. >> thank you, matt. happening today, counselors will be on hand at armio high school in fairfield. >> after a shooting near the campus that killed a 16-year-old and put the school on lockdown. police identified the victim as omar willis of fairfield. an 18-year-old was injured. the shooting happened just after 5:00 friday night right before the kickoff of a jv football game. police arrested one suspect who was hiding in the school's gymnasium. officers found a second suspect in the house nearby. this is the man police think stabbed another passenger at the

macarthur bart station saturday night. new images from surveillance cameras. there was some sort of argument on a train before the attack. the victim was cut on his thumb and the suspect was last seen running from the station. that bart station the same place where 18-year-old nia wilson with you stabbed to death in an unprovoked attack last month. her sister was also stabbed and she survived. the suspect john lee cowell could face the death penalty if he is convicted. in the east bay an hours long standoff ended peacefully with an arrest. new video shows the tense situation outside a home in antioch last night. according to our media partner "the east bay times" police responded to reports of a domestic dispute. they were told a man hit and threatened a family member before then barricading himself inside the home. police drew their guns and brought in a crisis intervention team after learning the suspect could be armed and he surrendered nearly two and a half hours later the public invited to pay respects and honor john mccain's life in service this week.

the senator died saturday after a battle with brain cancer. former president george w. bush has been asked to speak at the service and former president obama is scheduled to be there. the senator will lie in state at the arizona state capitol and a memorial service in phoenix on thursday and friday senator mccain will lie in state at the u.s. capitol and on saturday a private memorial service at washington national cathedral. we have new details on a crash involving a tesla and san jose fire truck. we've learned officers arrested the car's driver for dui. investigators say michael tran slammed. >> the back of the fire truck early saturday morning. fire crews responded to another crash on highway 101 near coyote creek and then tran told an officer he thought he had autopilot on at the time. investigators have not determined if the car was in self-driving mode. paramedics treated tran and his

vallejo and novato, good morning at 57 degrees. traffic look at that, that is the san mateo bridge. we ran into a little mist this morning so we'll put a caution there as you get closer to san francisco and the coast. that could be the case. calm, and kind of comfy if you're on the water today taking the ferry. mass transit, just watching the air quality because the closer you get to places like antioch and tracy, you may run into poor air quality. first what's going to happen in the south bay. cloudy and 60. 65 at 10:00. see low 70s at noon and then mid 70s throughout the afternoon hours with plenty of sunshine there. all right. for the east bay, cloudy and 61 at 8:00, still a lot of cloud cover and 64 at 10:00. and we'll see sunshine and push to around 70, some of our more comfortable neighborhoods once again. as we head towards san francisco, we've got a lot of cloud cover today during the afternoon hours. we'll see the most sunshine away from the coast.

entire month of august. summer heat missing. even as we head into september. mid to upper 70s at least down in the valley, los gatos, deeper into the santa clara valley, milpitas and only 65 in santa cruz, 68 in millbrae, low 70s the peninsula. low 60s along the coast, mid 60s downtown, south san francisco and sausalito. dressing for low to mid 70s, very comfortable through the north bay. cloverdale and northward ten degrees warmer, mid 80s there. comfortable weather along the east bay shore, 68 in oakland to 76 in union city and 78 to 82, that is crazy nice weather for our east bay valleys. all right. take a look at what's going on. it could be cooler tomorrow, more drizzle during the morning and then steady, low 60s at the coast, low to mid 70s around the bay and low 80s inland. that's a nice stretch of weather. >> traffic not so nice this morning. we have had issues and crews are working to clean up a crash that

happened around 10:00 last night. state route 116 closed near northwood lodge in the guerneville area and this was a crash that took down power lines. a power pole as well. power crews are on the scene and working on getting this back open. the westbound side is open but doing one-way traffic control. no estimate on when they will totally wrap that up but i'm not seeing huge backups in the area for now. bay bridge metering lights on at 5:26. that commute is starting to ramp up, although not looking terrible at the moment. a check of drive times, highway 4 to the maze, 18 minutes, about 9 across the bay bridge past the toll plaza and southbound 101 san francisco to sfo at nine minutes. >> thank you. amazon is taking to twitter to improve its reputation, paying employees full time to say good things about it on-line. according to business insider there are at least 13 amazon employee accounts on twitter called fulfillment center ambassadors. they talk about the issues for which amazon has been highly criticized like pay for
