pence to speak at a capitol service on friday. kendis. >> all right, our elizabeth hur joining us in studio, thank you. canada's foreign minister is flying to washington for talks today after president trump reached a preliminary trade deal with mexico. it could replace nafta. the president is calling it the united states/mexico trade agreement but says they'll give canada a chance to join if they negotiate fairly. among other things the deal outlines new rules for automakers and the source of the parts they use. but the deal still needs congressional approval. now to pope francis. he's under pressure to respond to explosive new allegations. high ranking american officials in the church are calling for an investigation of the pope after the accusation that he helped cover up sex abuse allegations. the vatican's former top diplomat to the u.s. claims pope francis knew that former washington, d.c. cardinal theodore mccarrick was a serial predator. the pope declined to address the statement. the statement also claims cardinal blase cupich

stream. >> my son was shot twice. he fell. he had to jump over the fence and when he got up to leave, that's when he got shot the third time. >> reporter: his mother says the reality he may not be able to play again is devastating. >> for him to come to a gaming event where as his mother i thought he'd be safe, and he wasn't, it's insane. >> man, david katz keeps to himself. >> reporter: court records obtained by abc news shows katz previously had been hospitalized for mental illness and was prescribed antipsychotic and antidepressant medications. >> i don't think of myself as a seven seed. i think personally i'm one of the better players. >> reporter: his divorced parents reportedly could not agree on how to care for him. police say before the shooting he retrieved two guns from his vehicle. both weapons were purchased legally two weeks ago from a licensed dealer near his home in baltimore. and authorities say surveillance video shows katz walking past people in the mall clearly targeting other gamers. police have not released a motive, but katz was reportedly eliminated from the tournament before the shooting.

we're back with a terrifying accident for a school crossing guard. watch it there as it plays out in florida. the 72-year-old was 12ruk by that suv. the teen behind the wheel wasn't paying attention. the crossing guard is recovering from her injuries. police released the video as a reminder to be careful on the roads now especially with kids going back to school. lawyers for president trump's former campaign chairman paul manafort reportedly tried to reach a plea deal before his second trial gets under way next month. he's accused of money laundering and failing to register as a foreign agent. we're back with winter's very early debut in august. yeah, look at that. that's snow? montana's glacier national park. forecasters say as much as ten inches of snow could fall in the mountains of montana and wyoming. even winter weather advisories have been posted for parts of both states. okay, i won't complain about the heat in the northeast. >> a lot of people all across the country dealing with heat but some with snow. now to a mystery in texas where a woman was captured on home surveillance video frantically ringing a doorbell. she appeared to be in distress but was gone before anyone could answer. >> several residents in houston are reporting a similar experience. police are now trying to determine whether she's a victim or a con artist. this morning, what police call a mystery caught on a doorbell cam. people in this montgomery county, texas, neighborhood are concerned after seeing this woman appear on video then seemingly disappear. they say they believe she looks
