the more likely you are to get wet. pe 50s to near at in the 60s at. we'll peek into the 70s with sunshine this afternoon away from the coast. >> so far so good, even with that drizzle. i'm not seeing any collisions so far this morning. it looks like folks are driving for conditions. walnut creek, southbound 680 slowly starting to fill in. no delays if you're continuing on to 24 and the bay bridge, you'll definitely have to use the wipers. so far, we haven't seen any spin-out crashes or anything like that. westbound 580 tracy to dublin in the yellow. dublin to mission boulevard in the green at 15, and northbound 85, 101 to cupertino in the green. >> in the south bay, a dishonor for our heroes. >> someone defaced a memorial dedicated to those killed while serving our country. matt keller is live in san jose.

matt. >> good morning, jessica and reggie. this memorial was unveiled here five years ago honoringwar. now, it's been vandalized upsetting many people. check out what was done in the park next to the s.a.p. center. the san jose vietnam memorial foundation erected this memorial. to the 142 sons of san jose who lost their lives in the vietnam group. the group said it wanted to give the city and its residents a quiet place to remember and reflect on memories of their loved ones and a place to pay respects and gratitude. some time on saturday, someone vandalized the memorial, some type of spray painted graffiti. they posted on their facebook page, thank you to all who commented on the recent vandalism that occurred. we're in the process of trying to repair the memorial. thank you again for your support. the organization holds a remembrance ceremony at the memorial every year on march 30th. matt keller, abc 7 news.

>> matt, thank you so much. >> counselors will be at the t to help students grieve for a student killed in a car accident. blake was headed to school yesterday afternoon when his car went off skyline boulevard in redwood city. first responders found him dead inside the vehicle 45 feet down a cliff side. investigators are still trying to determine how that happened. sarah high school will have counselors and staff available on campus for anyone who needs support. he leaves behind a mother, father, and twin brother. >> happening today, a critical deadline in sacramento that could end with pg&e customers paying more in their monthly bills. sacramento lawmakers are debating whether to allow utility companies to pass along wildfire costs customers. pg&e expects to pay billions of dollars related to lawsuits due to the north bay wildfires that happened last year. current california law says utilities are responsible for

damage from fires ignited by their equipment. a bay area catholic leader will speak at senator john mccain's memorial service thursday in phoenix. >> father edward a. reese is the president of st. ignatius college prep in san francisco. he's going to take part in the wreath laying and address those in attendance. he knew mccain when he worked in phoenix and was the head of the high school where mccain's two sons attended. father reese spoke to abc 7 news about a side of mccain rarely seen, his love for nature. years ago when a flash flood hit near his sudonee ranch, he was concerned by the displacement of the animals, in particular, his favorite hawk. >> i was there when this bird came back. there was this grin on his face from ear to ear, just his hawk had come back. and that's the kind of man he was. >> yesterday, remember, there was a big controversy about the flag at the white house. president trump ordered the flag at the white house to be lowered again to half staff, saying despite our differences on

website. abc7news.com. also on our abc 7 news app. you're never more than seven minutes away from my accuweather forecast. we'll start with the temperatures in san francisco. very narrow margin from about 55 in the sunset to the financial and the ferry building at 58 degrees. just about everywhere dealing with mist and drizzle this morning. in san francisco, some of that is bleeding across to the east onto the bay bridge and into the east bay hills this morning. expect to use the windshield wipers and find damp spots on the road. we'll go caution for the morning commute. ferry ride, a lilt mist hanging in the air as you ride the ferry. and that will continue up through about 7:30, maybe 8:00. mass transit, though, we have clean and cool air. let's take a look at south bay and see what's going to happen today as we start with cloudy conditions at 62. about 63, mostly cloudy, 10:00. then the sunshine rolls out and we jump into the 70s during the afternoon hours. low to mid 70s. how about we go to the peninsula? you can see that same thing, cloudy and about 61 at 8:00.

at the sentsish hearing, the judge rejected the deal because he said almena showed no remorse. almena's attorneys wants the agreement restored because the judge failed to disclose he had lost a child. the attorney says that made him biased in favor of the families. >> in the south bay, a football program has adopted a unique injury prevention technique aimed at teaching young children the proper ways of playing the game. amanda has the details. >> we often hear coaches tell players get your head in the game, but here, they're teaching them the exact opposite. get your head out of the game and away from serious injury. >> when it comes to safety on the football field -- >> see my hands. >> there's an all new plan. >> we're in the 20th century, and the 20th coaching techneegs have gone out the window. >> coaches are now investing in new tackling techniques and

at least along the coast. that will slow our sunshine and keep us cooler than average again today. a slight warming trend for the holiday, but temperatures will try to get back to average before the september surge that we expect comes late next week. here's a look at the cloud cover. look at this, even the central valleys filling with our low clouds and fog this morning. by noon, you can see, still hanging around the bay. by 3:00, mainly at the coast, and then by 7:00, starting to make the surge back. let's see what it does to temperatures. how about 70s in the south bay. just about everybody in mid to upper 70s. gilroy may make it to 80. santa cruz, 66. upper 60s to low 70s on the peninsula. low to mid 60s along the coast and the downtown south san francisco and sausalito. look at that, 69 in sonoma. everybody else in the low to mid 70s through most of the north bay valleys. upper 60s to low 70s on the peninsula until you get to union city, fremont, newark, mid70s, then mid to upper 70s, that's it, for our east bay valleys.
