afternoon. 60s and 70s at noon, warmer than yesterday at that time and 60s at the coast, 70s around the bay and 80s inland by 4:00. let's get a check on the commute this morning. >> good morning, mike. unfortunately we do have one issue today and it has turned into a sig alert. a southbound 680 crash in the sinal area been andrade road. it was a disabled vehicle. that vehicle was hit and now they're saying it's going to be at least 30 minutes likely until they can get this cleared, it could be longer than that. that backup continues to grow. everyone else really light. we're friday light, holiday light and no bay bridge metering lights. here we are at 6:00 a.m. that is pretty rare to see it this late. new this morning, a scuffle on a muni train goes viral on social media. hundreds of thousand have seen the video. >> abc 7 news reporter matt keller is live. >> two videos posted about 10:00 and they already have more than 530,000 views.

take a look. >> stop. >> reporter: the first shows a man putting another man in a headlock on the seat of the muni train and other passengers telling him to stop and let him go. the man on top tells him to tell him to stop. this happens. >> [ bleep ]. >> reporter: the next video shows the two trying to throw the man off the train. in the video someone could be saying the young man was playing music. sterling says a friend recorded the video last night taking the train between 32ed and 40th avenue. many commented on the post saying they were outraged about the violence. we reached out to police for comment and have yet to hear back. matt keller, abc 7 news. >> thank you. a husband and wife are expected in court in the south bay today. they're facing charges for dozens of home remodeling projects gone wrong. the santa clara d.a.'s office says william and constance gabriel were in a contracting

business called sun rooms america. they scammed more than 30 customers out of $800,000 leaving projects half done or never begun. investigators say the couple ran away to arizona. they were arrested there earlier this month. in the east bay, the parents of a hayward kindergartner are considering legal action after teacherseft the child alone at an afterschool program. the 5-year-old went to the rest room and returned to an empty classroom at fairview elementary school and walked nearly three miles home. the hayward unified school district released a statement to the gate that says in part, we take this incident very seriously and are investigating to determine what steps need to be taken to ensure that this does not happen again. happening now, millions of americans preparing to hit the road for the labor day weekend. around 16.5 mill reason expected to fly somewhere, that et a 4% spike from last year. at oakland international airport, officials anticipate nearly 200,000 passengers

through monday. that's an increase of more than 8% from labor day weekend last year. today's expected to be the busiest travel day of the weekend. aaa says more than 35 million people are likely to drive somewhere more than 50 miles away. a rebuilt stretch of highway 1 on the monterey coast opened a month ago but there are signs of wear and tear. >> all it takes is a good disguise to sneak into a southern california hospital. >> a live look at walnut creek this morning. you are never more than seven minutes away from my accuweather forecast. it's showing the warming trend begins today. temperatures about two to 11 degrees warmer than yesterday and even warmer this weekend. >> a live look at 6:04. you can see an empty santa cruz. i have a feeling this weekend, i have a feeling this weekend, that will not be the case.

areas south of the bay bridge during the afternoon hours, it's going to be rather dicey with a small craft advisory. now it's going to be sunny and mild at our beaches and if you're just out and about sunny and warmer. the small craft advisory starts at 3:00 until 9:00. west winds at 15 to 25 knots gusting up to 30 and some of that will bleed into your neighborhoods on either side of the bay. so be ready for that. we'll talk about the 90s coming up next. here's alexis. >> good morning, mike. we do have at least one significant trouble spot this morning. southbound 680 in the sunol area a sig alert due to a crash just before andrade. not sure what's going on with the map flows. it's definitely in the red approaching this crash scene. we have the two right lanes blocked and you're backed up to north of sunol boulevard. plan on pretty extensive delays coming from 580. everyone else still friday light and holiday light. here's san jose, 101 and 880 slowly increasing in volume but no major problems. big sur's stretch of highway is reportedly already cracking. state officials say it's normal

and that drivers have nothing to worry about. according to "the chronicle" several cracks in the pavement were reported across the newly rebuilt section of scenic highway 1 near gorda. the stretch reopened last month after it was closed to traffic in may 2017 after being washed out by the enormous mud creek slide. the department of transportation says new fractures are not affecting the integrity of the highway. still it's not what you want to see. >> or hear for sure. a big name rapper dropped an album overnight. >> south bay neighborhood hit hard by crime. neighbors demanding action. >> as we head to break we leave you with abc 7 news now.

"abc 7 mornings" all news all morning. >> a former irvine student is accused of posing as a doctor and treating a patient in southern california. now he's facing charges. prosecutors say the former student got past security at children's hospital of orange county seven times this year. investigators say he wore a doctor's lab coat and stethoscope and he had the credentials of a uci student. the former student is also accused of pretending to be a doctor on the uci campus where he allegedly diagnosed a patient. this morning nbc news is accused of putting ap stop to

reporting on harvey weinstein and his alleged sexual harassment. a former investigative producer at the network said he worked with reporter ronan farrow before an order to stop the story came from the highest levels of nbc. the producer says the handling of the story was a massive breach of journalistic integrity. nbc is firing back saying the reporting was not broadcast ready. "the new yorker" ended up breaking the bombshell story. in the south bay neighbors are fed up after a crime wave in san jose's willow glen neighborhood. last night they demanded action and eddie garcia tried to ease concerns. of the dozens of arrests made in the last month, the police chief says ten arrests involved a group of mostly young teens and an adult victimizesing the neighborhood and police say 95 incidents linked to the group over a week including a number of strong armed robberies and carjacks. san francisco's mayor taking a step towards creating more housing in the city.

mayor london breed is ordering the city's building inspection department to fast track applications for so-called in-law units. those are separate living spaces on a property. the mayor wants responses to backlogged applications within six months and her goal to review all new building applications within four months or less. breed says the city will be paying attention to applications for new in-law units in rent controlled buildings. those unitses would also fall under rent control making them more affordable for lower income residents. san jose is showing off an innovative way to clean up the south bay. the city's downtown streets team which hires homeless people to perform community service tasks was out picking up track along felipe avenue yesterday. mayor liccardo admitted his city is not doing a good job with housing which he says makes the trash situation worse. the homeless people who participated in the cleanup received food vouchers and appointments for job training. your kids may need to stay in rear facing car seats longer

than you think. the american academy of pediatrics just updated its recommendation. the old recommendation said children should stay in rear facing seats until they turn 2. now experts suggest they should reach the height or weight limit for the seat and some can hold children up to 40 pounds. google is going bilingual. the smart assistant and home speakers can understand commands in two languages without having to switch the settings. pick between english, german, france, italian and japanese. more languages in the next few months. a lot of people talking about this morning, that eminem dropped a surprise album. >> called "kamikaze" and the cover art inspired by "licensed to ill." 13 tracks and em min nen announced it on twitter saying, tried not to overthink this one. enjoy. the 45-year-old rapper takes shots at president trump and the press and also addresses kathy

highway 17 in unincorporated santa clara county south of los gatos. according to the chp, the crash happened shortly after 10:00 last night and the driver was ejected from the car and taken to the hospital with major injuries but is expected to recover. several bottles of alcohol and marijuana were found litered on the roadway and the chp is investigating whether the driver was under the influence of the crash at the time. developing news out of san francisco where students at one high school are returning back to class this morning following a frightening incident. >> a gun went off in a classroom yesterday prompting an hour's long lockdown. abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield is live at the school with more on what students can expected today. hi, amy. >> hi. school district officials will have counselors here on campus for students if they need to talk. here is a look at what the scene looked like here at balboa high school in san francisco yesterday for these kids. it started at 11:00 in the morning when a gun went off in a classroom.

police detained three kids on campus. sources say the kid with the gun handed it off to these kids and then he ran away. the three kids handed the gun over to officers. the school was on lockdown for about two hours while nervous parents waited for word. >> horrible. yeah. we're like, you know, now in like amongst the parents who have stood outside police tape outside my child's school not knowing what's happening or what's happened to these kids or whether they're safe. it's pretty crappy. >> reporter: police gave the all clear at 1:00 in the afternoon. sources say the mother of the boy with the gun took him to the bayview police station later in the day and had him turn himself in. live in san francisco, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> thank you. happening now, the late senator john mccain's casket is now lying in state in the u.s. capitol rotunda in washington, d.c. >> this follows an emotional memorial service in his adopted

9:30 local time. looks like folks are pouring into the church. this is expecte to be very spiritual, but also a star-studded affair. stevie wonder, faith hill, jennifer hudson, and ariana grande, just a few of the stars in the lineup today. the funeral is invitation only. thousands of fans got a chance to say good-bye at public visitations this week. aretha franklin passed away august 16th at the age of 76. happening today, protesters will gather outside berkeley offices to protest the company's weed killer roundup. this month a san francisco jury decided the company should pay a school groundskeeper $289 million. the man said he got cancer after using roundup. the company plans to appeal claiming there is no connection. in the south bay, a 20-year-old man is under arrest accused of kidnapping and robbing a san jose state student. it happened in the middle of the day. the suspect is soloman bell.

police believe bell pulled a gun on the 18-year-old student near san salvador and south 6th streets last wednesday. the victim told police he was forced to walk to atms and pull out cash. the suspect eventually let the student go and he was not hurt. police took bell into custody on wednesday. in the east bay the raiders will present a check to the oakland unified school district to save high school sports set to be eliminated. the silver and black will give a $250,000 check as well as an equipment donation to some of those student athletes that would have been affected. the ceremony will be held at the oakland tech high school tennis courts at 4:30. oakland unified announced a budge shortfall would have them drop ten sports. maybe today isn't the best day to exercise outside, what do you say? >> we have an air quality advisory. now it's not a spare the air alert issued by the bay area air quality management district. we will watch maybe the smoke filter into our neighborhoods over the weekend but their

past month. jean hopes that people will ultimately get in and out of the dmv office within 30 minutes. dmv has blamed the processing of the new real i.d. license which will be required by the federal government for air travel by 2020. new at 6:00 a.m., thousands of residents in san francisco could lose their access to food stamps. their mission included checking 1600 buildings for storm damage on the bigland of hawaii. the team included firefighters from san francisco as well as san mateo and santa clara counties. a major donation from redwood city based electronic arts. the company will give $1 million to the victims of the video game tournament shooting in florida. a will set up a fund to allow . others to donate more money. this comes in the wake of the deadly shooting in jacksonville. a gunman killed two and injured nearly a dozen others before turning the gun on himself. napa valley college is the latest bay area school to offer free education. the promise program will cover enrollment fees and even the cost of a parking permit. it's aimed at first-time students in napa county who enroll after high school. both city college san francisco and the contra costa community college district will offer free tuition for qualified students. here is your morning money report. are you shopping on this labor

if you look at the website they're not showing anything running. a big head's up for this weekend once again those major track repairs for bart between 19th street and west oakland stations that means no trains but a free bus bridge instead. and that is all day saturday, sunday and monday. definitely expecting that to cause some delays so keep that in mind. most commuters already know their drive to work is getting longer and more frustrating. not only here in the bay area but also across the country. a survey by educated driver.org says the average commute nationally across 1,000 cities is just over 52 minutes. in the east bay commuters from oakland, berkeley and hayward are in gridlock for 67 minutes a day which translates into 523 lost days. east bay driver tells abc 7 news he commutes from hayward to jobs on the peninsula and that means crossing bridges. >> i remember maybe five, six
