♪ abc 7 news was at santa clara university where june gow's former students practiced for a benefit in his honor tonight. gow died in may while fishing off the monterey coast. he taught hundreds of young children to play traditional chinese instruments. tonight's benefit will help them as well.

google execs will not testify on capitol hill this week over russia's meddling in the 2016 election. they'll attend the hearing with the senate intelligence committee, however, google's ceo declined the invitation. instead, he'll be sending a lawyer. it comes one week after president trump accused google of being biased against conservatives. this labor day weekend is a dry one at a popular fountain in the south bay. abc 7 news was at the fountain at plaza de cesar chav nes san jose. there's no water. our media partner the mercury news reports the fountain was running for a day since being out of commission last winter. a valve malfunction flooding the pumps and electrical system, now a parks spokesperson says a filter isn't working properly. no estimate on when it's going to be repaired. a quirky museum that celebrates bay area tradition comes to an iend

now sports from abc 7 news. >> khalil mack's record-breaking contract is signed, and the star defensive end is itching to get back to work though mack says he's as surprised as anyone to learn he's be working for the bears. he appeared in front of the chicago media. he'll wear his customary 52 following behind singleitary and butkus. perhaps the biggest revelation is mack answered questions that he found out shortly before everyone else that he was no longer with the oakland raiders. >> definitely shocked but you can't even have -- you don't have time to be shocked for long. it's kind of like, oh, word! okay. what time the flight tonight? all right. what? uh, i guess i ain't got time to
