country, flag and national anthem. nfl must respect this. kaepernick's stand may have cost him his career. >> he's being punished for taking a chance, speaking out on something that needs to be spoken about. >> reporter: kaepernick filed a grievance accusing the leagues of snubbing him for taking a position on the national anthem. he says he supports his choice. >> it's beautiful sacrificing his own job. >> reporter: others question celebrating kaepernick. >> what is he sacrificing? >> reporter: saying he doesn't believe they colluded to keep him off the field. >> i don't believe the nfl has a superstar chamber. i believe it's a competitive sport where players compete with one another and performance based versus macro issues. >> reporter: in may, the nfl decided players must stand during the nfl this season and

disappointed that the union, and i quote again, has chosen to mischaracterize kaiser permanente's strong commitment to labor, unquote. the union is charging kaiser is trying to outsource more than a thousand jobs in california. vic lee, abc7 news. thank you. there was a labor day protest outside the san francisco marriott hotel. members of local two took to the streets to protest lack of progress in contract talks. it expired august 15th. and they represent employees at different marriotts. 75 protesters were arrested. marriott was called but yet to hear back. a woman jumped out of an

ambulancents to an on ramp. the patient got agitated while being transported. she jumped out of the vehicle on the connector ramp between 680 and 580. >> the patient got out of all the restraints, overcame and pushed the attendant in the ambulance and opened the locked door to the ambulance and exited the ambulance. >> according to the chp, two cars managed to swerve and miss the woman trying to jump in front of traffic before she was struck by a third vehicle, she died at the scene. trying to find the person responsible for a hit-and-run on two young cyclists. amanda is there live. how are the kids doing? >> reporter: well, the 13-year-old teenage boy and the

12-year-old girl are still recovering a week after that felony hit-and-run. we talked to a neighbor who shared incredible video. this was taken august 27th with a clear view of the road at cottle road and el molino. it hurries through a stop sign and hits the pair, throwing them off their bikes. the car reverses and then leaves them in the road. > can't believe somebody would do this. >> reporter: eric and his wife often walk their dogs through the crosswalk. while it's upsetting to see, it isn't surprising. >> people push through the stop sign all the time and go way too fast down the road and people don't pay attention. >> reporter: if you pay attention to the surveillance video, you can see a man with a hat walking into the frame

as kriste lewis. and the boat with 10 people and another with 6 people hit head-on. three missing and others hurt. none of the people were wearing life vests, happening saturday night on the colorado river near the boarder of arizona. one of the vessels was speeding on the wrong side of the river and the two hit about 50 miles an hour. again, no life vests. a car drove into a clothing store in el cerrito this morning. it appears that's the only visible sign of damage in the store and it was closed for hours. a place that had many childhood memories was just closed for good. playland at the beach closed down -- sorry about the wrong video -- it features pinball

center that does involve the coastline of mississippi and alabama. a much more broader tropical storm warning has been issued and includes new orleans itself. winds from the storm stretch out to the storm. over the next 24 hours it is forecast to strengthen by tuesday night winds, 70 miles an hour. they forecast this to be a category one hurricane making landfall from the louisiana coastline as far as alabama's coastline. keep your eye on that for heavy rainfalls and gusty winds with this storm system. it's a mild day tomorrow afternoon with haze and atmosphere. temperatures take a dip midweek, below average for a lot of us and we will stay that way thursday. the next 7 days shaping up to be
