rain across the gulf coasts. wind gusts over 70 miles an hour as storm made landfall. tornado watch boxes are up. possible. tropical storm gordon is moving northwe northwest, weakening over the mississippi valley but dumping rain somewhere, isolated areas could get up to foot of rain and storm surge of one to three feet. >> thanks so much. >> tonight, we're learning more about the final moments before the pilot of a single begin plane crashed into near palo alto airport and died. >> reporter: learning that two passengers are stable tonight.

palo alto online is identifying survivors as mother nancy del maria and daughter chloe king. pilot not just identified. left redding and crashed into the duck ponds near the airport after 11:00 a.m. tuesday morning. ntsb estimates went down 300 feet from the end of the runway. before the deadly crash,adio conversation between the air traffic controller and pilot indicates he was unfamiliar with the area and having trouble finding airport. then issues with first landing attempt. that's the last we hear from the pilot. >> juliet mike going to have to abort to go around. >> roger, make left, close traffic. need any assistance? >> negative, just came in too fast. >> mike heun. >> the airport reportedly
