the renovations to the coliseum, if we could get that back, i'm in favor of that. >> reporter: he says he's heard reports of a lawsuit in the works. the city may file a multimillion dollar antitrust lawsuit according to the chronicle. those law firms have reportedly offered to fund the initial case. >> you know, i feel strongly in our case, they're going basically for it on a bad faith effort and just being on the coliseum authority, having those conversations, it appears the raiders acted in bad faith in this process. >> reporter: some fear a lawsuit would mean an early end to the raiders lease. scott mckibben says the raiders have made it clear to me they have no desire -- it's unclear where they'd go. the vegas stadium is far from complete. >> as you know mark davis has been known to have a few loose

screws. >> reporter: the oakland mayor and city council are keeping details close to the chest, and have not returned calls for comment. the raiders have also not returned our requests for comments. now, according to the chronicle the suit could be filed as early as this week. and larry and ama, as you know, that comes before the raiders home opener which is scheduled here for monday. >> yeah, katie, if the raiders did leave early, they don't have a lot of great options, the only viable stadium in the bay area that could host an nfl team would be levi stadium, home of the 49ers. that's what the nfl wanted from the get go, it was built as a sired facility. have we heard anything about that as an option going forward? >> reporter: we did reach out to levis and the 49ers, here's the statement they gave us, they said, quote, it would not be our place to comment on that possibility. you'd have to reach out to the raiders. now we've done that, as you mentioned, the santa clara mayor mentioned in the past that stadium is open to two teams and we've heard the possibility that

san jose state could host the raiders, but that's a much smaller stadium. we've reached out to the school and they said they have not been contacted by the raiders. live in oakland, katie utehs, abc 7 news. >> we don't know where the raiders will play next year, but we do know where they will be on monday night, and that is here on abc 7, the season opener at the coliseum, our live pre-game coverage of the raiders versus rams beginning at 7:00 p.m. some sort of incident near american canyon high school put the school on lockdown this afternoon. it happened for precautionary reasons. you can see the police presence nearby. officials confirmed there was not a shooting or stabbing. not clear at this time if anyone was injured or if any students were involved in the incident. the name of the pilot killed yesterday while flying a volunteer mission for the group angel flight has now been released. john spencer was flying a

patient and her mother from redding to palo alto when his small plane crashed. investigators with the national transportation safety board were on scene looking at the wreckage of the plane before removing it from the water. live look from the scene, you can see the crane there as arrived so it can remove the plane. the aircraft will be taken to a local hanger for inspection. you can see from behind that tree that it is being moved there. it's difficult to tell right there. a preliminary report on the crash will be released next week. just weeks after the plane crash that killed his partner and their pilot a tahoe man is being released from a south bay hospital with some new challenges and a brand new outlook. anchor eric thomas is live there with the story. >> reporter: eric reptosh is being released from valley medical center wearing glasses he's never had to wear before, using a wheelchair he's never needed before and with a collar on to stabilize his spine. even with all of that he knows

he's lucky to be alive. >> he has to lean forward and put his head the opposite direction to transfer over. >> reporter: maneuvering from a wheelchair to a seat is now part of eric reptosh's life, something he's had to learn in weeks of physical therapy. >> this journey has been quite incredible. >> reporter: reptosh is 55, the only survivor of this july plane crash that killed his husband peter jackson and their pilot. they were flying between their homes in idaho and truck eye. >> i don't have any recollection of the taking off after that. and you wake up and you're wondering who you are. >>at tgh toe hosp before being sent to valley medical center for rehab. he had trouble remembering words, putting together sentences and even doing simple math problems. physically he couldn't move his

legs. >> we focus on what is possible and rebuilding lives. >> that meant putting reptosh in the hands of doctors, nurses, physical therapists and mental health specialists. it wasn't always easy. >> here's all these cheery people dragging you through hell. >> reporter: he stayed positive instead of veering off into a dark police. >> i feel like today i'm in pretty good shape and i'm ready to go and i feel like i have a second chance at life, and i almost feel like my life is just starting. >> personally i feel like eric has exceeded the expectations i had regarding his head injury and his ability to communicate. >> reporter: probably still months of physical therapy ahead, reptosh hopes he can resume his career as a to photographer. for now he wants to get back up to his home and breathe clean air and look up at the stars at

narrative. >> yeah. that's an interesting possibility because we heard one lawmaker suggest we really need government intervention and regulations at this point. do you envision a day where government gets involved in social media, more than a hearing, here's the parameters, play within these lines. >> that is the open question right now, super tricky, what are you regulating for, these are platforms disseminating information in a country where we want differing points of view, we want access to information, then it comes down, how are you going to do that, this is why they're pushing these companies to take specific steps, take a look at who's posting on your site, be transparent about who is buying ads, verifying users are who they say they are, something that incites violence or hate speech, set standards. we're seeing the government starting to really push these companies and taking more responsibility over what's happening on what is becoming very important platforms for the

dissemination of information. >> a little bit of a carrot and stick here, almost like the lawmakers are saying, guys, either you take care of your house, or we'll take care of your house. is that the implied threat here? >> if you don't take care of your house, we will keep railing on you, and that will not be good for you. again, all of these businesses are ad supported, they want you to go to the site andngag if you don't trust that you're going to have a good experience there or the information is bad, then you're not going to go there. that means you're not going to see the ads they want to support their business. it will eventually hurt the bottom line. i would like to say that they're altruistic, and they want to do the right thing, and to a certain extent they're trying, at the end of the day change comes because it's forced. this is a wakeup call. people are getting impatient at how slow it's taking companies to take positive steps forward. well, uber is taking new

steps aimed at boosting driver and passenger safety. the ride hailing company unveiling new features today, including ride check, the power tool uses smart phone senses to detect an impact during a crash. passengered would receive a prompt to order another ride paid for by uber or use the 911 emergency call button. in addition, drivers will no longer see where they retrieved passengers in the past. amazon has ordered 20,000 vans for its new delivery program in which contractors can launch businesses that deliver packages, amazon says tens of thousands of people have applied for the program, and it had to increase its van order, which was originally 4,500. the delivery program is part of amazon's plan to gain more control over how packages are delivered. >> time to deliver weather now. spencer christian. >> i'd like to deliver warmth, wouldn't you? cooler today, huh? >> low clouds hung around a long

a homeless veteran is asking for help to get money from a gofundme account set up for him. >> the couple who set up the account is accused of keeping most of the money for themselves. abc news reporter linda lopez with the latest. >> reporter: it was a feel good story that's having anything but a happy ending. a couple raises nearly $400,000 on gofundme for a homeless man who stopped on i-95 in philadelphia to help a stranded katie mcclure. >> it's like winning the lottery. >> but the man claims mcclure and her boyfriend have only given him a small part of the cash from the gofundme page about $75,000. the rest is now gone, and his lawyer says the couple has spent it on lavish trips, shopping sprees, and this used bmw in

a scare for passengers aboard a flight from the middle east to new york's canada airport. the pilot reported that several people were ill on board. now, a short time ago we learned that three passengers and seven crew members were taken to the hospital. a passenger shot this video telling cnn a large number of people were sick, even before that flight took off. among them, rapper vanilla ice, he was among the passengers on the plane, he posted video on twitter showing the packed tarmac through the window. the 50-year-old, whose real name is robert van winkle sent out a later tweet saying this is crazy. there's over 100 people sick on the bottom floor. i'm happy i'm on top. it's a double decker plane. a man is in custody in dallas after intentionally ramming his pickup into a television station. officials say michael fry crashed into the building, jumped out and began ranting and scattering papers with

there. where do we stand today. the personal finance website nerd wallet looked into that. you guys put together this huge survey, why? >> well, michael, it's -- thanks for having me, first of all. but we were curious how people reacted to this huge data breach that happened at one of the actual credit bureaus. we found surprising results. one finding, we asked more than 2,000 americans what action they took after the equifax data breach. one surprising result, pretty shocking, really, was that only one in ten americans have put a credit freeze on their account. we also found that three in ten americans said that even if there was a data breach that affected their financial information they wouldn't go to the bother of setting up a credit freeze. >> but your survey showed they're worried. they're paranoid, right? >> people are worried. it's tg the next step that can be a challenge. to actually put a credit freeze in place or a fraud alert.

people are sort of -- there's inertia there, where they think that's harder than it is. they're worried because they hear the news, 150 million americans, their data has been affected. >> you and i go to cocktail parties and talk about credit freezes. most people don't do that. do most people know what one is. >> no. yeah. and almost 50% of americans, our survey found, don't know how to set one up, how to put one in place. that's worrisome too. it's not that hard. it's not -- you know, if you had the choice between going out to get ice cream and setting up a credit freeze, what will you choose is this. >> i'm going to scrap the rest of these questions. what you just said is so important, we need to focus on that. let's talk about, there are new rules making it easier and cheaper to have a credit freeze, and how do you go about it? let's start with the new rules. >> well, that's huge. it's wonderful news, actually, for consumers. as of september 21st, not quite yet, but soon, a credit freeze
