instagram by the woman trapped on interstate 5. flames broke out this afternoon. a huge plume of smoke could be seen above while these people flee for their lives. >> that car just caught afire. we cannot stay right here. we gotta walk! >> reporter: so far the fires are not burning towards large towns but it is threatening cabins. i-5 is closed about 10 miles north of redding to south of mount shasta. julio vega was stuck. we spoke to him on skype. >> some of the guys that were in front of us, i don't know, like five or ten trucks in front of us were closer to it. they had to drop their trailers and turn around. >> the forest service has

launched a full aircraft and ground response. 600 firefighters vr called in. this fire comes just weeks after the car fire which destroyed 1100 homes and killed eight people in the same area was declared contained last week. >> we want to touch base with sandy to see what firefighters are facing tomorrow and in the hours ahead. sandy. >> the temperatures are starting to drop and the humidity creeping up. it is 73 right now. breeze is out of the east-southeast gusting to 12 miles per hour. winds will remain changing through the next 24 hours, switching direction, which could make it challenging. combine that with the heat, five out of the next seven days in the 90s. you can see the smoke from the fire going all the way out

saturday, too. police say an attempted sexual assault was reported on august 6th near the park. police say residents who visit the park helped identify the suspect. >> new at 11:00. a scare for shoppers when east bay mall was put on lockdown. police chased four suspects inside. two of the suspects dumped their guns inside the mall. it was closed for about an hour and the weapons were recovered. one of the suspects was able to get away. police won't say why they were wanted. into thieves in the eighth local apple store robbery in just a few weeks. we flew above the store in loss gatos. they say men ripped things off the tables. similar things have been happening across apple storlgs. >> you may think i hear gunfire

>> temperatures will bounce back to where they are this year, above normal by the end of the week and the weekend. i want to show you a time laps for my east bay hills camera. as you watch you'll see the marine layer trying to make its push across the bay and towards the valleys. you'll notice some hazy conditions up above. that is actually smoke layers from the wildfires that are burning. so we have been seeing a combination of both, which is why the air quality toemt tomorrow will be impacted due to the smoke. moderate air caught for all parts of the bay area. in the weekend it will improve. we'll see some good air quality later on in the week and the weekend. here's a look at the weekend. friday is going to heat up. 96 degrees inlapd. the coast will remain comfortable. saturday and sunday temperatures moderate but a wide range of fremgts the 60s to the 90s. a live look from our san jose 87
